  • The processing of seismic data involves analyzing earthquake wave data to understand the internal structure and characteristics of the Earth, which requires high computational power. Recently, machine learning (ML) techniques have been introduced to address these challenges and have been utilized in various tasks such as noise reduction and velocity model construction. However, most studies have focused on specific seismic data processing tasks, limiting the full utilization of similar features and structures inherent in the datasets. In this study, we compared the efficacy of using receiver-wise time-series data ("receiver array") and synchronized receiver signals ("time array") from shotgathers for pretraining a Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) model. To this end, shotgather data generated from a synthetic model containing faults was used to perform noise reduction, velocity prediction, and fault detection tasks. In the task of random noise reduction, both the receiver and time arrays showed good performance. However, for tasks requiring the identification of spatial distributions, such as velocity estimation and fault detection, the results from the time array were superior.

  • One of the main techniques for diagnosing heart disease is by examining the electrocardiogram(ECG). Many studies on detecting the QRS complex, P, and T waves have been performed because meaningful information is contained in these parameters. However, the earlier detection techniques can not effectively extract those parameters from the ECG that is severely contaminated by noise source. In this paper, we performed the extracting parameters from and recovering the ECG signal using wavelets transform that has recently been applying to various fields.

  • Recently, requirements relating to performance, environment and noise in the oil hydraulic system of the heavy construction equipment have been reinforced continuously. In order to solve these technical trends, studies on the system compactness, operation under high pressure and great rotating speed, electronic control, substitute oil, and noise reduction have been progressed briskly. Among these recent studies, the system operation under high pressure is quite difficult to carry into effect due to mechanical limitations; that is, for realizing the system operation in the hydraulic pump under high pressure, the improvements or innovations on the design techniques, the manufacturing techniques, and the lubrication performance of the working oil are required. Accordingly, in this study, the stress distribution and optimum design factors under the maximum pressure were discussed by using stress analysis on the cylinder block of the hydraulic axial piston pump, which is one of the most important relative sliding regions.

  • The study is an image-based assessment that uses image processing techniques to determine the condition of concrete with surface cracks. The preparations of the dataset include resizing and image filtering to ensure statistical homogeneity and noise reduction. The image dataset is then segmented, making it more suited for extracting important features and easier to evaluate. The image is transformed into grayscale which removes the hue and saturation but retains the luminance. To create a clean edge map, the edge detection process is utilized to extract the major edge features of the image. The Otsu method is used to minimize intraclass variation between black and white pixels. Additionally, the median filter was employed to reduce noise while keeping the borders of the image. Image processing techniques are used to enhance the significant features of the concrete image, especially the defects. In this study, the tonal zones of the histogram and its properties are used to analyze the condition of the concrete. By examining the histogram, the viewer will be able to determine the information on the image through the number of pixels associated and each tonal characteristic on a graph. The features of the five tonal zones of the histogram which implies the qualities of the concrete image may be evaluated based on the quality of the contrast, brightness, highlights, shadow spikes, or the condition of the shadow region that corresponds to the foreground.

  • Currently, the spread of mobile devices is gradually increasing. Accordingly, various techniques using images or photos are actively being researched. However, image data generates noise for complex reasons, and the accuracy of image processing increases according to the performance of removing noise. Therefore, noise reduction is one of the essential steps. Salt and pepper noise is a typical impulse noise in the image, and various studies are being conducted to remove the noise. However, existing algorithms have poor noise rejection performance in high frequency areas, and average filters have blurring. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an algorithm that effectively removes salt and pepper noise in the high frequency region as well as the low frequency region using entropy. For objective and accurate judgment of proposed algorithms, MSE and PSNR were used to compare and analyze existing algorithms.

  • This paper describes development of a high speed Doppler OFDI system for non-invasive vascular imaging. Doppler OFDI (optical frequency domain imaging) is one of the phase-resolved second generation OCT (optical coherence tomography) techniques for high resolution imaging of moving elements in biological tissues. To achieve a phase-resolved imaging, two temporally separated measurements are required. In a conventional Doppler OCT, a pair of massively oversampled successive A-lines is used to minimize de-correlation noise at the expense of significant imaging speed reduction. To minimize a de-correlation noise between targeted two measurements without suffering from significant imaging speed reduction, several methods have been developed such as an optimized scanning pattern and polarization multiplexed dual beam scanning. This research represent novel imaging technique using frequency multiplexed dual beam illumination to measure exactly same position with aimed time interval. Developed system has been verified using a tissue phantom and mouse vessel imaging.

  • Portable systems with built-in active noise control is required low power operation. Excessive anti noise search operation can lead to rapid battery consumption. A method that can adaptively cancel noise according to the operating conditions of the system is required and the methods of reducing power are becoming very important key feature in today's portable systems. In this paper, we propose the method of active noise control(ANC) using binary search algorithm in noisy systems. The implemented architecture detects a frequency component considered as noise from the input signal and by using the binary search algorithm, the system find out an appropriate amplitude value for anti-noise in a much faster time than the general linear search algorithm. Through the experimental results, it was confirmed that the proposed algorithm performs a successful functional operation.

  • Parametric identification of structures is one of the important aspects of structural health monitoring. Most of the techniques available in the literature have been proved to be effective for structures with small degree of freedoms. However, the problem becomes challenging when the structure system is large, such as bridge structures. Therefore, it is highly desirable to develop parametric identification methods that are applicable to complex structures. In this paper, the LSE based techniques will be combined with the substructure approach for identifying the parameters of a cable-stayed bridge with large degree of freedoms. Numerical analysis has been carried out for substructures extracted from the 2-dimentional (2D) finite element model of a cable-stayed bridge. Only vertical white noise excitations are applied to the structure, and two different cases are considered where the structural damping is not included or included. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach is capable of identifying the structural parameters with high accuracy without measurement noises.

  • A fundamental problem in digital holography is the presence of zero-order noise in the reconstruction process, which decreases the signal to noise ratio(SNR). For many applications, that reduction of SNR makes digital holography impractical, so a great number of approaches have been tested in order to overcome such a problem. In this paper we use the scanning method to suppress the zero-order diffraction noise and the interference noise between object beams. We demonstrate that it is possible to increase the image quality with the scanning method.
