  • The main noise sources in SMPS are divided into three parts: the switching devices, the rectifiers in secondary part, the output transformer and choke coil. In this paper we performed the noise analysis with respect to bobbin type and winding method, and designed an optimized transformer focusing on the transformer. For the comparison. we measured four parameters for each cases, including EMI conducted emission noise. signal from the switching devices, output ripple/noise voltage and leakage current. As the result, the transformer using a vertically-typed bobbin and a parallel, sandwich winding method showed the best performance. We confirmed that the SMPS developed in this research is satisfied with the IEC 601-1 international standard for the medical instrumentation. by testing its electrical characteristics and safety.

  • Phenomenological nonlinear gain saturation effect on the noise characteristics of a multi-electrode DBR laser, when the lasing wavelength changes continuously, is presented theoretically. Using the optical transmission line theory, noise characteristics reliant on output power are analyzed by taking into account both the spontaneous enhancement factor K due to the distribution of the spontaneous emission along the active cavity and the nonlinear gain saturation effect. Spontaneous emission rate was increased due to an increase in injected current into the passive section, which in turn lead to increase in relative intensity noise (RIN) and frequency noise. Phenomenological nonlinear gain saturation was found to have significant effect on RIN and frequency noise characteristics. However. Iinewidth was found to decrease due to a phenomenological nonlinear gain saturation effect. ffect.

  • The noise reduction algorithm using the non-local means (NLM) approach is very efficient in nuclear medicine imaging. In this study, the applicability of the NLM noise reduction algorithm in single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) images with a brain phantom and the optimization of the NLM algorithm by changing the smoothing factors according to various reconstruction methods are investigated. Brain phantom images were reconstructed using filtered back projection (FBP) and ordered subset expectation maximization (OSEM). The smoothing factor of the NLM noise reduction algorithm determined the optimal coefficient of variation (COV) and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) results at a value of 0.020 in the FBP and OSEM reconstruction methods. We confirmed that the FBP- and OSEM-based SPECT images using the algorithm applied with the optimal smoothing factor improved the COV and CNR by 66.94% and 8.00% on average, respectively, compared to those of the original image. In conclusion, an optimized smoothing factor was derived from the NLM approach-based algorithm in brain SPECT images and may be applicable to various nuclear medicine imaging techniques in the future.

  • Gear system has been widely used in industrial applications and unexpected failures of gears are not only extremely damaging but also lead to economic losses. So, early detection of fault is important for diagnosis machine condition. And acoustic emission is an efficient non destructive testing technique for the diagnosis of machine health and is useful technique for early detection of fault because it can find low-amplitude and high-frequency signal on account of high sensibility. Therefore, in this paper, the AE signal was measured and preprocessed using envelop analysis for gearbox with misalignment between pinion and gear. And then the vibration characteristic of gear misalignment was analyzed.

  • The purpose of this work is to obtain fundamental data about fatigue crack detection of the welded exhaust flange by using the AE method. The acoustic emission method as a nondestructive evaluation is one of high technical test for realtime monitoring in the dangerous industry fields. Signal analysis of both AE sensor and accelerometer for fatigue crack failure are presented in this paper.

  • An usual acoustic emission(AE) event has two widely characterized parameters in time domain, peak amplitude and event duration. But noise in AE measuring may disturb the signals with its parameters and aggrandize the signal incertitude. Experiment activity of detection of the nick inside of porcelain with AE was made and study on AE signal processing with statistic be presented in this paper in order to pick-up information expected from the signal with noise. Effort is concentrated on developing a novel arithmetic to improve extraction of the characteristic from stochastic signal and to enhance the voracity of detection. The main purpose discussed in this paper is to treat with signals on amplitudes with statistic mutuality and power density spectrum in frequency domain, and farther more to select samples for neural networks training by means of least-squares algorithm between real measuring signal and deterministic signals under laboratory condition. By seeking optimization with the algorithm, the parameters representing characteristic of the porcelain object are selected, while the stochastic interfere be weakened, then study for detection on neural networks is developed based on processing above.

  • DEUTZ AG, co-founded in 1864 by Nicolaus August Otto, the inventor of the four-stroke cycle engine, has developed the new 2013 engine for commercial vehicles on the basis of the tried and tested 1012 and 1013 series. With 4 and 6 cylinder models, the engine covers the power range between 100 and 190 kW. At the time of their introduction to the market, the engines will meet the exhaust emission legislation of EURO IV and incorporate the potential for EURO IV, Further engineering targets were. (Compactness, Favourable power/cost relation, Low weight, Low fuel consumption and Low noise level). All targets could be accomplished in a relatively short development period via the application of modem simulation tools and test methods. In this paper, the design configuration of the engines is described with particular emphasis on measures for noise emission reduction and the combustion system including injection and turbo charging. Furthermore, we demonstrate the engine's potential to fullfill the European emission legislation EU4, which comes into force in 2005.

  • Exhaust facility has basically the role of flame deflector, and considering additional functions, it can be classified by noise/emission suppressor and altitude simulation facility. In this paper, principles of flame deflector, jet pump, emission suppression are presented for exhaust treatment facility. Principles of noise suppression caused by Mach wave mitigation, jet energy mitigation by water evaporation and condensation are shown. In addition, a concept of vertical exhaust treatment facility is presented applying basic principles aforementioned.

  • Aerodynamic noise generated from wind turbines is predicted by it's classified source mechanisms using computational method. BPF noise according to the blade passing motion, is modelled on monopole and dipole sources. They are predicted by Farassat 1A equation. Airfoil self noise and turbulence ingestion noise are modelled upon quadrupole sources and are predicted by semi-empirical formulas composed on the groundwork of Brooks et al. and Lowson. Retarded time is considered, not only in low frequency noise prediction but also in turbulence ingestion noise and airfoil self noise prediction. Wind turbine noise emission of a 3MW wind turbine and a 600 kW wind turbine, standing for large and middle sized wind turbines, is analyzed.
