  • In this paper, the performance analysis of telemetering method using delayed frame time diversity (DFTD) as the outer code and Reed-Solomon (RS) code as the inner code is described. DFTD is used to transmit a real-time frame together with a time-delayed frame which was saved in the memory during a defined period. The RS code as a kind of FEC (forward error correction) is serially concatenated with DFTD. This method was applied to the design of telemetry units that have been used for flight tests in a communication environment with deep fading. The data of the flight test for four cases with no applied code, with DFTD only, with the RS code only, and with both DFTD and the RS code are used to analyze the performance. The simulation for time-delay suggests the possibility that all frame errors can be removed. And the results of 12 flight tests show the performance superiority of this new method to compare with the RS code only.

  • The purpose of earthquake resistant design for typical bridges is the 'No Collapse Design' allowing emergency vehicles just after earthquakes. The Roadway Bridge Design Code provides design provisions to carry out such 'No Collapse Design' with a ductile mechanism and response modification factors given for connections and substructure play key role in this procedure. In case of response modification factors for substructure, the Roadway Bridge Design Code provides values considering ductility and redundancy. On the other hand, 'AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications' provides values considering additionally an artificial factor according to the bridge importance categories divided into critical, essential and others. In this study, a typical bridge with steel bearing connections and reinforced concrete piers is selected and different response modification factors for substructure are applied with design conditions given in the Roadway Bridge Design Code. Based on the comparison study of the design results, supplementary measures are suggested required by applying different response modification factors for substructure.

  • This paper introduces various linear block error correction code and compares performances of the correction circuits. As the risk of errors due to power noise has increased, ECC(: Error Correction Code) has been introduced to prevent the bit error. There are two representatives of ECC structures which are SEC-DED(: Single Error Correction Double Error Detection) and SEC-DED-DAEC(: Double Adjacent Error Correction). According to simulation results, the SEC-DED circuit has advantages of small area and short delay time compared to SEC-DED-DAEC circuits. In case of SED-DED-DAEC, there is no big difference between Dutta's and Pedro's from performance point of view. Therefore, Pedro's code is more efficient than Dutta' code since the correction rate of Pedro's code is higher than that of Dutta's code.

  • In this paper, DARC(Data Radio Channel) error correction decoder for the U Subcarrier Broadcasting System is designed of using (272,190)$\times$(272,190) product code based on (272,190) shortened difference set cyclic code. This decoder has error flag of column and row direction that can store the result of the error correction of column and row direction in the block and frame structure, is designed to be of no benefit the output with majority logic determination to cancel the corrected and determined bit, and can improve by using the error correction method that no error correction of the row direction is performed, if error correction of the column direction is completely performed by error flag.

  • The telemetry standard adopts SOQPSK-TG with excellent power and bandwidth efficiency as a modulation technique, and LDPC code with excellent performance as an error correction code. The SOQPSK-TG transmitter consists of a precoder and a CPM modulator. Rather than implementing each receiver separately, the reception performance is improved by combining the trellis and implementing it as a Viterbi decoder. In this paper, the reception performance of LDPC-encoded SOQPSK-TG was evaluated by replacing the Viterbi decoder with a max-log-map decoder capable of soft metric output. As a result of computer simulation in AWGN channel, there is an Eb/No performance gain of about more than 0.7~0.8dB compared to the conventional method.

  • It is no simple matter to measure and manage the quality of Software which is invisible. However the importance cannot be ignored as the software development project is getting bigger and complex. This study analyses and compares the methods of software quality improvement. Further it formulates rules for Code Inspection and verifies the efficiency and the effectiveness by applying to practical project. The study get the following results. First, the study organizes theoretical content about the methods of Software review. Second, the study formulates rules for Code inspection and demonstrates the result through the case study. Third, the study performs the quantitative dater management through code inspection.

  • The field of automatic identification using RF is the one of the emerging ubiquitous computing areas. Early RFID techniques was focused on hardware areas, but RFID middleware has recently gained a lot of attention, which collects and filters tag data, and provides it to enterprise applications. The RFID middleware proposed by EPCglobal only can process EPC tag data, and cannot handle the KKR code which is defined by korean organization. So in this paper, we propose a method which can process the KKR code in RFID middleware systems. Using our approach, the RFID middleware can be extended as general ubiquitous middleware systems which process not only EPC code but also KKR code.

  • The current 2002 Indonesian Seismic Code consists of prescriptive criteria that are intended to result in buildings capable of providing certain levels of performance. However, the actual performance capability of buildings is not assessed as part of the code procedures. Several analysis procedures are allowed, and the state of practice is to use the RSA with six-zone seismic map developed for 475-year earthquake. This code is being revised and will adopt many of the ASCE7-10 provisions and 2475-year earthquake for MCE. The growth of tall buildings compels engineers to look for more optimal lateral system. The use of RC core wall as single system has been adopted by very few engineering firms, which is allowed in the current code but will no longer be the case if the new one is in effect. Other innovative structural system such as core wall and outrigger is not addressed in the proposed new code. Engineers must then resort to NLRHA. Currently, one 50-story building under construction using RC core wall and outrigger has been designed with RSA and employing capacity design principles, then evaluated using NLRHA per TBI Guidelines. Based on the evaluation, the performance of the 50-story building generally still meets the criteria of the TBI Guidelines. The result of the case study is presented in this paper.
