손톱의 질소함량과 영양상태 (Nutritional Differences in Nitrogen Content of Fingernails)

  • The analysis of nail nitrogen content reflected recent nutritional status. Therefore, estimation of nail nitrogen content has been previously reported in a small group of neonates ana school children. Nail samples were obtained from 52 economically middle and 21 low classes. The contents of nitrogen in their fingernails were determinded by micro-Kjeldahl method. Mean nail nitrogen content was $133.1{\pm}8mg/g$ in the middle class which is significantly higher than that of the low class $122.1{\pm}8mg/g$. The nitrogen contents of nails obtained in summer were found by analysis of variance and student's t-test to he lower than those obtained in winter.

정상식이를 섭취하는 여대생들의 질소 섭취 및 배설에 관한 연구 (A Study on Nitrogen Intake and Excretion in Young Korean Adult Women on Normal Diet)

  • A study was conducted to measure nitrogen intake and excretion in young korean women on their normal diet and leading normal activity level. Dietary survey by food record, fecal and urinary samples were collected for 3 days in 19 healthy female college students in Korea. On one of the 3 days, duplicate of one-day diet was collected from each subjects. Mean daily intakes of energy and protein were calculated from food recorded. Duplicate diet samples and pooled fecal samples were analyzed for N content. Pooled urine samples were analyzed for total N, urea N, and creatinine content. Apparent N absorption, apparent N balance and urea N/creatinine N were calculated to evaluate protein nutritional status. The results obtained are summarized as following ; 1) Accordingly to food record, mean daily intakes of energy, protein, carbohydrate and far were 1535.2 $\pm$53.78Kcal, 55.95$\pm$2.97g(total nitrogen 8.95$\pm$0.45g), 254.13$\pm$10.31g and 39.24$\pm$2.76 g, providing 14.6%, 66.2%, 19.2% of total energy respectively. 2) Nitrogen intake by chemical analysis was 7.16$\pm$0.31g/day (protein 44.75$\pm$1.94kg/day) providing 82.39$\pm$4.58% of nitrogen intake by food record. The difference of total nitrogen intake between food record and chemical analysis in diets was significant(p<0.05). 3) Mean daily fecal nitrogen excretion was 1.38$\pm$0.10g and then mean apparent digesbility of protein was 80.53$\pm$5.21%. 4) Mean daily urinary nitrogen excretion, urea N excretion and creatinine excretion were 6.03$\pm$0.30g, 4.52$\pm$0.22g, and 0.88$\pm$0.04g respectively. Urinary urea nitrogen was 75.2$\pm$1.38% of total urinary nitrogen excretion and urinary nitrogen was 85.4$\pm$3.56% of total nitrogen intake by chemical analysis. 5) Mean urea N/creatinine N ration was 14.01$\pm$0.77. 6) Mean nitrogen balance was -0.244$\pm$0.33g/day. From the above results, it is concluded that the subjects in this study seem to be in marginal protein nutritional status and therefore should increase dietary protein intake.

Carbon and nitrogen status in litterfall of a red pine stand with varying degrees of damage from pine wilt disease

  • We evaluated the carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) status of litterfall in a natural red pine (Pinus densiflora) stand damaged by pine wilt disease in Jinju City, which was one of the areas severely affected by the disease in Korea. A significant correlation (P < 0.05) was found between tree density and basal area and the C and N status of litterfall components, but C and N status was not correlated with mean diameter at breast height in the pine wilt disease stands. Needle-litter C and N concentrations were linearly related (P < 0.05) to basal area in pine wilt disease stands. Needle-litter C concentration decreased with a decrease in damage intensity due to pine wilt disease, whereas litter N concentration increased with an increase of basal area in pine wilt disease stands. The linear regression equations developed for litterfall C and N inputs were significant (P < 0.05), with basal area accounting for 50-86% of the variation, except for cone and flower litter. The results indicated that the incidence of pine wilt disease could impact the quality and quantity of C and N in litterfall of pine stands suffering from pine wilt disease.

유수분화기 식생지수와 SPAD값에 의한 벼 질소 수비 시용량 결정 (Determining Nitrogen Topdressing Rate at Panicle Initiation Stage of Rice based on Vegetation Index and SPAD Reading)

  • 목표 수량과 단백질함량을 얻기 위한 질소 수비처방을 위해서는 유수형성기 전후 생체정보의 정확한 진단뿐만 아니라 유수형성기 이후 작물의 질소 축적 및 이에 따른 수량 및 미립 단백질 함량 반응이 정량화 되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 유수분화기 생육 및 질소영양상태를 잘 대표하는 RVI green과 현재 널리 이용되고 있는 SPAD값의 유수분화기와 유수분화기 1주일전의 측정치 및 유수분화기부터 수확기까지 즉 생식생장기 지상부 질소 축적량(PNup)을 변수로 하는 수량 및 단백질함량 예측 중회귀 모델과 PNup 예측 회귀모델을 작성하여 이들의 수비 처방에의 이용 가능성을 검토하였다. 1. 유수분화기 및 유수분화기 1주일전의 RVIgreen과 SPAD값, 그리고 PNup을 이용하여 얻은 수량과 단백질함량의 중회귀모형은 어느 경우에나 모델의 결정계수($R_{2}$)가 0.9 이상으로 매우 높았다 2. 수량을 최대로 하는 생식생장기 질소흡수량(PNup)은 유수형성기 전후 RVIgreen이 증가할수록 감소하는 경향을 보였는데 본 연구의 유수형성기 전후 RVIgreen 범위로 보면 $9{\sim}13.5kg/10a$ 으로 추정되었다. 또한 PNup은 유수형 성기 전후 SPAD값과는 무관하게 $10{\sim}11kg/10a$ 범위로 나타났다. 3. 미립의 단백질함량을 7% 이하로 하는 유수형성기 질소흡수량은 유수형성기 전후 RVIgreen과 SPAD값이 증가할수록 감소하는 경향으로 어느 경우에나 $6{\sim}8kg/10a$로 추정되어 최대수량을 위한 생식생장기 질소흡수량 $9{\sim}13.5kg/10a$ 보다 크게 낮았다. 따라서 고품질 쌀 생산을 위한 수비 처방을 위해서는 수량보다도 단백질함량을 기준으로 하여 처방하여야 할 것으로 판단되었다. 4. 본 실험결과 수비질소의 회수율은 $53{\sim}83%$의 변이를 보였는데, 생식생장기 생육량이 많을 수록 회수율이 증가하는 경향이었으며, 수비 시용량이 증가함에 따라서 감소하였다. 생식생장기 천연질소공급량은 $3{\sim}4kg/10a$ 범위였으며 유수분화기 생육량이 많을 경우 증가하는 경향이었다 수비 질소시비량 및 유수분화기 생육 및 질소 영양 지표들을 예측변수로하는 PNup 예측모델을 작성하였으며 이 모델들은 적합도가 매우 높았다. 5. 영양생장기 생육 및 질소영양 상태의 비파괴적 측정치를 이용하여 목표 수량과 단백질함량에 달할 수 있도록 수비질소 시용량을 결정할 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다. 그러나 여기서 제시한 모델들이 광범위한 조건에서 이용될 수 있기 위해서는 보다 다양한 품종, 토양, 기상 조건에서 모델의 검증과 보완이 되어야 할 것으로 판단된다.

Effects of Fertilizer on Growth, Carbon and Nitrogen Responses of Foliage in a Red Pine Stand

  • This study was to examine growth, carbon and nitrogen responses in foliage following forest fertilization in a red pine stand. Two types of fertilizer (N:P:K=113:150:37 kg $ha^{-1}$; P:K=150:37 kg $ha^{-1}$) were applied on late April 2011. Growth, carbon and nitrogen responses of foliage were monitored 3 times (July, September, November) after fertilization. Morphological growth responses (dry mass, leaf area, specific leaf area) with foliage age were not significantly (P > 0.05) affected by fertilizer application, while needle dry mass and leaf area of July were significantly lower in current-year-old than in one-year-old or two-year-old needles of September or November. Carbon concentration and content in foliage was little affected by fertilizer application compared with sampling month or needle age, while the NPK fertilizer produced high nitrogen concentration and content of foliage. The results indicate that nitrogen concentration and content in foliage may serve as an indicator of the nitrogen status by fertilization in a red pine stand.

Spikelet Number Estimation Model Using Nitrogen Nutrition Status and Biomass at Panicle Initiation and Heading Stage of Rice

  • Spikelet number per unit area(SPN) is a major determinant of rice yield. Nitrogen nutrition status and biomass during reproductive stage determine the SPN. To formulate a model for estimating SPN, the 93 field experiment data collected from widely different regions with different japonica varieties in Korea and Japan were analyzed for the upper boundary lines of SPN responses to nitrogen nutrition index(NNI), shoot dry weight and shoot nitrogen content at panicle initiation and heading stage. The boundary lines of SPN showed asymptotic responses to all the above parameters(X) and were well fitted to the exponential function of $f(X)=alphacdot{1-etacdotexp(gamma;cdot;X)}$. Excluding the constant, from the boundary line equation, the values of the equation range from 0 to 1 and represent the indices of parameters expressing the degree of influence on SPN. In addition to those indices, the index of shoot dry weight increase during reproductive stage was calculated by directly dividing the shoot dry weight increase by the maximum value ($800 extrm{g/m}^{-2}$) of dry weight increase as it showed linear relationship with SPN. Four indices selected by forward stepwise regression at the stay level of 0.05 were those for NNI ($I_{NNI}_P$) at panicle initiation, NNI($I_{NNI}_h$) and shoot dry weight($I_{DW}_h$) at heading stage, and dry weight increase($I_{DW}$) between those two stages. The following model was obtained: SPN=48683ㆍ $I_{DWH}$$^{0.482}$$I_{NNIp}$$^{0.387}$$I_{NNIH}$$^{0.318}$$I_{DW}$ $^{0.35}$). This model accounted for about 89% of the variation of spikelet number. In conclusion this model could be used for estimating the spikelet number of japonica rice with some confidence in widely different regions and thus, integrated into a rice growth model as a component model for spikelet number estimation.n.n.

주공정에서 아질산화-혐기성 암모늄 산화법에 의한 단축질소제거공정 연구동향 (Main-stream Partial Nitritation - Anammox (PN/A) Processes for Energy-efficient Short-cut Nitrogen Removal)

  • Large efforts have recently been made on research and development of sustainable and energy-efficient short-cut nitrogen removal processes owing to strong attention to the energy neutral/positive wastewater treatment system. Anaerobic ammonium oxidizing bacteria (anammox bacteria) have been highlighted since 1990's due to their unique advantages including 60% less energy consumption, nearly 100% reduction for carbon source requirement, and 80% less sludge production. Side-stream short-cut nitrogen removal using anammox bacteria and partial nitritation anammox (PN/A) has been well established, whereas substantial challenges remain to be addressed mainly due to undesired main-stream conditions for anammox bacteria. These include low temperature, low concentrations of ammonia, nitrite, free ammonia, free nitrous acid or a combination of those. In addition, an anammox side-stream nitrogen management is insufficient to reduce overall energy consumption for energy-neutral or energy positive water resource recovery facility (WRRF) and at the same time to comply with nitrogen discharge regulation. This implies the development of the successful main-stream anammox based technology will accelerate a conversion of current wastewater treatment plants to sustainable water and energy recovery facility. This study discusses the status of the research, key mechanisms & interactions of the protagonists in the main-stream PN/A, and control parameters and major challenges in process development.

혈액투석환자의 식이조사 및 Protein Catabolic Rate에 관한 연구 (Dietary Evaluation and Protein Catabolic Rate in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients)

  • As various metabolic alterations develope in uremic patients. their diets need to be restricted, Furthermore medical complications with accompanying anorexia result in further complications and decrease in body strength. To assess the nutritional status of hemodialyzed patients we performed evaluation for dietary intake and protein catabolic rate(PCR) For 24 clinically stable male patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis dietary intake was estimated by 3-day food record method and PCR was calculated with blood urea nitrogen at pre and post hemodialysis. The results were as follows : 1) Average daily energy and protein intake were 26.7$\pm$5.1kcal/kg of body weight. 0.95$\pm$0.19 g/kg of body weight respectively. 2) Protein catabolic rate calculated from interdialysis blood urea nitrogen levels was 1.00$\pm$0.20g/kg of body weight. Protein catabolic rate was correlated with the amount of Protein intake(r=0.44 p<0.05) 3) Relative body weight(RBW) of the subjects was smaller than that of healthy man without hemodialysis. Calorie and protein intake and protein catabolic rate were significantly different (p<0.05) between patients with lower RBW(<90% of ideal body weight) and those with normal RBW(90~110% of ideal body weight) and those with normal RBW(90~110% of iedal body weight) 4) The duration of hemodialysis did not have a significant effect on the nutritional status of the subjects.

Growth and Yield Responses of Two Rice Cultivars to Ozone Treatment under Different Nutrient Supply

  • Two rice cultivars of the japonica type, ozone-resistant Ilpumbyeo (IL) and ozone-susceptible Keu-mobyeo#l (KM) were exposed to ozone ($O_3$) at 0.15 ppm for 30 days. The available nutrient regimes were varied by doubling the supply of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) within a basic fertilizer status (N, P, K; 15, 12, 12 kg l0$a^{-1}$). There was little difference on plant height between ozone-treated and nontreated plants. The most significant ozone stress on tiller number was shown on the 30th day of ozone exposure. Slight recovery from ozone stress was noted on the 60th day. On the 30th day, tiller number was greatly decreased by 40.8% in IL and 64.6% in KM, whereas at a high nitrogen supply regime (2N), it was decreased by 21.4% in IL and 42.7% in KM as compared to the control not treated with ozone at basic fertilizer status. The inhibition of tiller production caused by ozone exposure was alleviated on the 60th day. In both cultivars, number of spikelets per plant and weight of 100 grains were affected little by the ozone treatment irrespective of nutrient regime. However, the number of panicles per plant and yield were reduced significantly. In both cultivars, yield of ozone-treated plants with 2N status was 12.4-16.1 % higher than that of the ozone-treated plants with basic nutrient status. A significant yield decrease of 47.8% and 33.4% was observed for IL and KM, respectively, in ozone-treated plants with higher potassium (2K) status.

부지화 잎의 화학성분에 기반한 질소결핍 여부 구분 머신러닝 모델 개발 (Development of Machine Learning Models Classifying Nitrogen Deficiency Based on Leaf Chemical Properties in Shiranuhi (Citrus unshiu × C. sinensis))

  • 본 연구에서는 부지화 잎의 무기양분 농도 측정 결과를 바탕으로 질소를 제외한 다른 무기양분의 함량을 통해서 잎의 질소 결핍 여부를 구분하는 머신러닝 모델을 개발하였다. 그러기 위해서 부지화의 질소결핍구와 대조구의 잎 샘플을 분석한 36개의 데이터를 부트스트랩핑 방법을 통해서 학습용 데이터셋 1,000 여 개로 증량시켰다. 이를 이용해 학습한 각 모델을 테스트한 결과, gradient boosting 모델이 가장 우수한 분류성능을 보여주었다. 본 모델을 이용해 질소함량을 직접적으로 분석할 수 없는 경우, 잎의 무기성분 함량에 기반하여 질소결핍 가능성 여부를 판단해 질소가 부족한 부지화 나무를 분별하고, 정확한 질소함량을 측정하게 유도하여 그에 기초한 적정 질소비료 시비를 가능케 하고자 하였다.
