Nitric oxide is a labile, gaseous, broad spectrum second messenger that used in various tissues and cells. If it is induced by endogenously and exogenously in the neuronal cells, it is able to mediate analgesia or hyperalgesia at the periphery and in the spinal level respectively. This dual role of nitric oxide in the sensory system is very intriguing but has not been fully understood yet. In this experiment, acetylcholine (300 $\mu$g/paw), sodium nitroprusside (600 $\mu$g/paw), and L-arginine (300 $\mu$g/paw) represented antinociceptive effect to noxious topical stimulus, but pronociceptive responses followed by spinally application (20$\mu$g/5$\mu$l, 10$\mu$g/3$\mu$l, 500$\mu$g/5$\mu$l respectively). Calcium ion is critical element which activates nitric oxide synthase, therefore verapamil (300 $\mu$g/paw) and NOS inhibitor (20 mg/kg, L-NAME or L-NOArg) are injected into right hind paw (i.pl.). When verapamil is combined with NOS inhibitors analgesic effects through NO-cGMP pathway are inhibited as compared with ACh alone. Diluted formalin (2.5%), when injected into rats'hind paw (0.05 ml), elicited a biphasic algesic responses and nitric oxide had an analgesic effect on both $A\delta$ and C sensory nerve fibers which manipulate the phases respective1y. Nitric oxides, which produced from constitutive nitric oxide synthase, activated cyclooxygenase-type I and then prostaglandins are produced from them. So, indomethacin and ibuprofen, inhibitors of COX$_1$enzyme, when pretreated intraperitoneally (100 mg/kg) could reduce the hyperalgesic state. From these results, it is possible to imagine that the intrathecally administered NO donors expressed hyperalgesia through both long-term potentiation mechanism and arachidonic acid-prostaglandin cascade.

This study proposes a mathematical model to characterize the removal of nitrogen oxides in a dielectric barrier discharge plasma process. As well as the reactions between nitrogen oxides, water vapor, oxygen and nitrogen, the model takes into account the effect of ethylene often used as a chemical additive to reduce the power consumption of the process on the removal of nitrogen oxides. Since the concentrations of the radicals concerned in the main reactions including O, OH, H and N should be calculated to predict the removal efficiency of nitrogen oxides, they were theoretically derived. The parameters affecting the removal of nitrogen oxides, such as initial concentration, discharge power, humidity, and ethylene concentration were experimentally evaluated, which were compared with the calculated results to verify the validity of the model proposed. The predicted concentrations of several byproducts formed in this process were also presented and discussed. The effects of several parameters mentioned above on the removal of nitrogen oxides were reasonable described by the proposed model.
Nitrogen oxides (NOx) in combustion flue gas are currently mitigated by chemical processes such as catalytic reduction, absorption and adsorption. However, development of environmentally sustainable biological processes is necessary in the near future. In this paper, the up-to-dated R&D trend of biological methodologies regarding NOx removal was reviewed, and their advantages and disadvantages were discussed. The principles and applications of bacterial system including nitrification and denitrification and photosynthetic microalgae system were compared. In order to enhance biological treatment rate and performance, the insoluble nitric oxide (NO) should be first absorbed using a proper solubilization agent, and then microbial degradation or fixation is to be followed. The use of microalgal system has a good prospect because it can fix $CO_2$ and NOx simultaneously and requires no additional carbon for energy source.

MILD (Moderate and Intense Low Oxygen Dilution) combustion is a technology that uses the recirculation of combustion gas to increase thermal efficiency not only by keeping down the concentration of Nitric Oxides and temperature but also by uniformizing the internal temperature of the combustion furnace. This study is a trial to obtain MILD combustion characteristics by adjusting the equivalence ratio with the air flow rate in the conical combustor while keeping the fuel flow rate and measuring the exhaust gas of the combustion furnace.
Statement of Problem: Titanium has many advantages of high biocompatibility, physical porperties, low-weight, low price and radiolucency, but it is incompatible with conventional dental porcelain due to titanium's oxidative nature. Many previous studies have shown that they used the method of sandblast surface treatment prior to porcelain application, the researchs are processing about the method of acid etching or surface coating. Purpose: The purpose of this research is to study the effect on bond strength between titanium and porcelain when using macro-surface treatment and micro-surface treatment and macro and micro surface treatment. Material and method: In this study, we evaluated the bond strength by using 3-point bending test based on ISO 9693 after classified 7 groups-group P : polished with #1200 grit SiC paper, group SS : sandblasted with $50{\mu}m$ aluminum oxides, group LS : sandblasted with $250{\mu}m$ alumium oxides, group HC : treated with 10% hydrochloric acid, group NF : treated with 17% solution of fluoric acid and nitric acid, group SHC : treated with 10% hydrochloric aicd after sandblsting with $50{\mu}m$ alumium oxides, group SNF treated with 17% solution of fluoric acid and nitric acid. Results : Within the confines of our research, the following results can be deduced. 1. Group SS which was sandblasted with $50{\mu}m$ aluminum oxides showed the highest bond strength of 61.74 MPa and significant differences(P<0.05). The bond strengths with porcelain in groups treated acid etching after sandblasting decreased more preferable than the group treated with sandblasting only. It gives significant differences(P<0.05). 2. After surface treatments, the group treated with sandblasting showed irregular aspect formed many undercuts, in the SEM photographs. The group treated with hydrochloric acid had the sharp serrated surfaces, the group treated with the solution of fluoric acid and nitric acid had the smooth surfaces, the group with sandblasting and hydrochloric acid had irrigular and porous structure, the group with sandblasting and the solution of fluoric acid and nitric acid had crater-like surfaces. But all of the groups treated with acid etching was not found and undercut. Conclusion: In above results, average surface roughness increase, bond strength also increase, but surface topographs influences more greatly on bond strengths.

The fifty six components of volatile organic compounds(VOCs) were continuously measured by the hour to see the distributions their of its concentration and the ozone creating contribution of nitric oxides and VOCs in Gamjeon Odor and VOCs Monitoring Network from April to September, 2008. Aromatics occupied 51.3% of VOCs and paraffins, alkanes and olefins came in order. The monthly concentration of VOCs in Gamjeon was high in July and low in September. As for hourly concentration of ozone and nitric oxides, ozone started to increase since 10am having the highest in the daytime, and nitric oxides had the different trend from that of ozone, showing the lowest in the daytime. The photochemical ozone creating potentials(POCPs) of toluene, propane, m/p-xylene, ethylbenzene, and 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene were 30.6%, 10.2%, 9.4%, 7.4% and 5.2% respectively. These five components occupied 62.8% of total POCPs, which means they contributed to the ozone creation mainly. Related with the ozone creating contribution, the ratio of VOCs to NOx was generally under 6 occupied 72.0%, which came under the area coexisting the limit of VOCs. Therefore it is thought that the management of emission source of VOCs is very important for the reduction of ozone.

In this paper, a number of supported metal oxides and perovskite type catalysts were investigated for the NOx reduction from the diesel engine exhaust gas. All catalysts were made into pellets type with diameter of 3-4 mm alumina(Al$_2$O$_3$) as a supporter. These samples were tested by real diesel exhaust gas which contains CO, hydrocarbons and soot in the temperature range of 150~55$0^{\circ}C$ with the $3300h^{-1}$ space velocity (SV). Among the results, several promising catalysts showed NOx conversion above 50% in the temperature range of 150-35$0^{\circ}C$. From these results supported metal oxides catalysts and perovskite type could be recommended for the practical application to the automobile exhaust treatments.

In this study, removal characteristics of nitrogen oxides $(NO_x)$ from road transport by using peat as the packing media for biodegradation have been investigated in the long term. Physicochemical and biological treatment of peatmixed media eliminates any requirement to use chemical substances and also facilitates the biodegradable actions of microorganism. Safe biodegradation of pollutants, no need to apply additional microbes owing to their active growth, and no generation of secondary pollutants were found in this experiment. It was concluded that average removal efficiencies of nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide $(NO_2)$ were 80% and 97% respectively with respect to the linear velocity 35~40 mm/s and 0.3 ppm ozone concentration in the long period operation. Inflow concentration of nitric oxide over 0.05 ppm was suitable when pretreated with ozone. Non-ozone stage was performed with linear velocity 20~100 mm/s and then the average removal efficiency of nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide were 38% and 94% respectively. Other results showed that the apparent static pressure was raised with increases in applied water content and aerial velocity in mixed media during fan operation.

Emission characteristics of nitric oxides and carbon monoxide from a porous media combustor has been experiment studied. The relationship between the change of flame shape and emission has also been examined. As the equivalence ratio decreases, the flame shape on the ceramic matrix plate changes from a diffusion flame, R(radiant)-type flame, to B(Blue)-type flame. With large fuel flow rate, R-type flame turns to be two dimensional R-II type flame around the equivalence of 0.7. Carbon monoxide emission increases very rapid with decreasing equivalence ratio. It changes a lot from some 10 ppm to 100-10,000 ppm with the change of flame type from R-I to R-II type. Nitric oxide emission from the premixed burner is less than 25 ppm over all range of fuel flow rate, which is less than 20% of NOx emission from conventional gas burners.
