Decomposition of Nitogen Heterocyclic Compounds(NHCs) in Aqueous Solution by Sonication

  • The sonolytic decomposition of NHCs, such as atrazine[6-chloro-N-ethyl-N' -(1-methylethyl)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine], simazine( 6-chloro-N,N' -diethyl-l ,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine), trietazine(6-chloro-N,N,N'-triethyl-l,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine), in water was investigated at a ultrasound frequency of 200kHz with an acoustic intensity of 200W under argon and air atmospheres. The concentration of NHCs decreased with irradiation, indicating pseudo-first-order kinetics. The rates were in the range 1.06∼2.07 (x10/sup -3/ min/sup -1/) under air and 1.30∼2.59(x10/sup -3/ min/sup -1/)under argon at a concentration of 200μM of NHCs. The rate of hydroxyl radicals(·OH) formation from water is 19.8μM min/sup -1/ under argon and 14.7 μM min/sup -1/ under air in the same sonolysis conditions. The sonolysis of NHCs is effectively inhibited, but not completely, by the addition of t-BuOH(2-methyl-2-propanol), which is known to be an efficient ·OH radical scavenger in aqueous sonolysis. This suggests that the main decomposition of NHCs proceeds via reaction with ·OH radical; a thermal reaction also occurs, although its contribution is small. The addition of appropriate amounts of Fenton's reagent [Fe/sup 2+/] accelerates the decomposition. This is probably due to the regeneration of ·OH radicals from hydrogen peroxide, which would be formed from recombination of ·OH radicals and which may contribute a little to the decomposition.

  • Duplex STS는 응력부식 저항이 큰 페라이트상과 우수한 내식성을 제공하는 오스테나이트상이 미세하게 1:1로 결합하여 강도가 오스테나이트 STS 보다 최소 1.7배 이상 높을 뿐 아니라 공식(pitting)과 응력부식 저항성이 우수해 최근에 주목받고 있는 고내식 고강도 재료이다. STS의 내식성을 평가하는 여러 지수 중 Pitting에 대한 내식성을 평가하는 지수로서 PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number)이 있다. PREN =%Cr + 3.3%(Mo + 0.5%W) + 16%N PREN이 30 이상이면 해안지역에서 사용가능하나, PREN이 40 이상인 경우에는 원자력발전소, 탈황 설비, 해수설비 및 화학Plant 등 고내식 환경에서 주로 사용가능하다. PREN이 40 이상인 Super Duplex STS은 다량의 Mo와 N을 첨가하여 만든 제품으로, 최근 10여 년 동안 해수 냉각 설비, 해수 담수화 설비, 탈황 설비, 석유화학 설비 및 원전용 CASK 등의 다양한 분야에 그 사용량이 꾸준히 증가하고 있는 상황이다. 본 연구에서는 Super Duplex STS의 TIG용접에서 실드가스 중의 $N_2$의 첨가가 PREN에 미치는 영향을 검토하였다. 실드가스 중 $N_2$가 용접금속으로 침입하는 메커니즘을 규명하고, 용접조건 변화에 따른 용접금속 내 N의 함량을 측정하여 PREN을 계산하고, 용접금속의 기계적 특성과 미세조직을 검토하였다.

A Study on the Nitrogen Sources for the Enhancement of the Nitrogen Bioavailability in Rats with Peptic Ulcer -The Ratio of Casein and Casein Hydrolysate- (소화성 궤양 흰쥐에서 체내 질소이용율 증진을 위한 체내 질소원에 관한 연구 - 단백질과 단백질 가수분해물의 비율을 중심으로 -)

  • This study aimed to verify the nutritional and curative effects of protein hydroysate and optimal ratio between protein and protein hydroysate as nitrogen source in rats with cysteamine-induced duodenal ulcer. Duodenal ulcer rat model was established by intraperitoneal injections of cysteamine. Sprague-Dawley, female rats weighing approximately 200g were intrapertionealy injected twice cysteamine(13mg/100g BW) at intervals of 3hours per day. This procedure was repeated 3 times at intervals of 3 days. Animals fed on 10% casein diet for injection periods. After last injection, 5 kinds of kiets (the ratio of casein and casein hydrolysate was 100 : 0(C100), 75 : 25(CH 25), 50 : 50(CH 50), 25 : 75(CH 75), 0 : 100(CH 100)) were given. The rate were sacrificed after feeding diet, 1, 3, 5 days. Ulcer index, hexosamine content of stomach and duodeum, gastric motility, trypsin activity, blood glutathione, plasma total protein, albumin, amino-N, urinalry urea nitrogen, creatinine, hydroxyproline and retention rate of nitrogen were analyzed for nutritional effects of diet treatments. There were no differences among diet groups in the view of the growth and diet treatments. There difference of ulcer curation by diet was appeared after 3 days. The ulcer indexes of C100 and CH 25 of 3, 5 days were significantly higher than those of CH 50, CH 75 and CH 100. This result was the same as hexosamine content of stomach, plasma protein, albumin concentration and nitrogen retention rate. The more casein hydrolysate diet had, the lower trypsin activity was. The more casein gydroysate diet had, the higher excretion of hydroxyproline was. These results show that protein hydrolysate can be applied in diet therapy for the patients with gastronitestinal ulcer. It suggests that it has curative effect of diet when nitogen sources include at least over than 50% of protein hydrolysate.

  • Nitrogen oxide(NOx) is a major cause of air pollution, exists in the form of nitrogen monoxide and nitrogen dioxide, and is harmful to the human body. Recently, a number of studies to reduce NOx in the atmosphere have been conducted, and these efforts have been the same in the field of construction materials. It is known that NOx can be efficiently removed by using a photocatalytic reaction. In this study, the NOx removal performance of the foam composite using activated carbon(AC) and titanium dioxide(TiO2) was investigated. AC was used to enhance the photocatalytic reaction of TiO2 by increasing the internal specific surface area of the foam composite. In this study, foam composites were prepared using the substitution rate of AC as the main variable. The NOx removal performance of specimen was evaluated according to the test method presented in ISO-22197-1. The specific surface area of the foam composite showed a tendency to increase according to the AC content, but decreased at 15% or more. Also, when the AC substitution rate was 15%, the NOx removal efficiency was the highest.

Studies on Preparation of a Cheese-like product from Soybean Milk (콩을 이용한 치-즈제조에 관한 연구)

  • 1) Among five lactic acid bacteria examined, Str. thermophilus and Str. diacetilactis produced remarkably greater amount of acids in soybean milk than Str. lactis, Str. cremoris and L. bulgaricus. 2) Soybean milk and skimmed dry milk were combined in the ratio of 7 : 3 and were carried out in lactic acid fermentation for 24 hours at optimum temperature. The result indicated that the yield of precipitation and protein content of it were the most, the moisture content was the least and curd structure formed was considered too hard. 3) Based on these and other results, following procedure was used for manufacturing: soybean milk and skimmed dry milk were combined in the ratio of 7 : 3, heated at $121^{\circ}C$ for 20 min., cooled, added Str. thermophilus as lactic acid starter and incubated for 24 hours and $37{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. The curd was cooked, hooped, and pressed for 24 hours, to the surface of which, Penicillium caseicolum and sodium chloride were spread. During ripening of the curd at $15^{\circ}C$ and $85{\sim}90%$ RH for 21 days, Pen. caseicolum was highly developed after 7 days, pH was increased and proteolytie activity has reached to the peak point after 14 days. After 7 days of ripening total water soluble nitrogen, water soluble protein nitrogen and amino acids nitrogen were begun to increase. After 21 days of ripening total water soluble nitrogen, water soluble protein nitrogen and amino-N reached to 52%, 32% and 14% of total nitogen. In the soybean cheese, after 21 days of ripening, 17 or more kinds of amino acids were detected by two-dimentional paper chromatography. The product contained 63.2% of moisture, 17.5% of crude protein, 13.2% of crude fat, 2.8% of crude ash and 2.5% of sodium chloride.

Effect of Soil Mineral Nutrients on Nitrogen Uptake of three Crops in Australian Brigalow Soil (호주(濠洲)의 Brigalow 토양(土壤)에서 무기성분(無機成分)이 세가지 작물(作物)의 질소흡수(窒素吸收)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • In order to study the effect of exsisting soil nutritional elements on the nitrogen uptake of sunflower, sorghum and black gram, pot experiment was carried out by using soils sampled from three different depths(0~20, 45~65, 90~110cm) of Brigalow soil in Australia. The results obtained were as follows : Dry matter and nitrogen uptake of corps were increased in the soil with higher nitrogen content. Chlorine uptakes of sunflower and sorghum were increased in the soil with higher nitrogen and lower chlorine contents, but that of black gram was done in the soil with higher contents of both elements. Ratios of nitrogen derived from applied fertilizer of three corps and fixed nitrogen of black gram were relatively low in the soil with higher content of soil nitrogen, but those derived from soil nitrogen were reverse. Recovery rates of applied nitrogen were relatively increased with higher cation uptakes of crops. Chlorine uptakes of sunflower and sorghum were positively correlated with each recovery of nitrogen, but that of black gram didn't show the trend. Recovery rate of applied nitrogen for black gram had significantly negative correlation with increase of soil chloride content.

The Taste Compounds in Boiled-Dried Anchovy (시판 마른 멸치의 정미성분)

  • Boiled-dried anchovy is one of nation-widely consumed dried fish foods in Korea. In this study, the taste compounds including nucleotides and their related compounds, free amino acids, trimethylamine oxide and total creatinine were analyzed, and their roles in tasting activity were investigated. IMP content in large size, middle size, small size and least size boiled-dried anchovy was $22.7{\mu}mole/g,\;18.6{\mu}mole/g,\;20.3{\mu}mole/g\;and\;4.0{\mu}mole/g$, respectively, and the ratio of IMP to the total nucleotides and their related compounds in each sample was $55.0\%,\;51.0\%,\;69.1\%\;and\;47.0\%$, respectively. In the free amino acid composition of the four size groups of boiled-dried anchovy, abundant amino acids were histidine, lysine, alanine and proline, and the sum of these amino acids occupied $69.0\%,\;67.7\%$. $66.8\%\;and\;45.9\%$ of the total free amino acid in each sample, respectively. Among these. histidine was the most dominant in all samples amounting to 589.0 mg/100g in lage size, 373.9 mg/100g in middle size, 437.8 mg/100g in small sire and 101.0 mg/100g in least size, while aspartic acid and methionine were poor in content. Among the organic bases, total creatinine was abundant, and its nitrogen content ranged from $21\%\;to\;39\%$ of the total extractive nitogen. From the results of omission test, the taste-active compounds of the boiled-dried anchovy are assumed to be IMP and free amino acids.

Comparison of Litter Production and Nutrient returned to Forest Floor according to Forest Fire Type and Recovery (산불유형과 회복정도에 따른 낙엽생산량과 임상으로 이입되는 영양염류 함량)

  • This study has compared the different types of forest fire sites and the unburned site at Samcheuk-si Gangwon-do by assessing the amount of litter production, nutrient concentration returned to forest floor from July 2007 through October 2010. The research showed that the average amounts of litterfall produced in the unburned site, the crown fire site(C-1), the crown fire site(C-3) and the ground fire site(G-2) were $7.74{\pm}2.56$, $1.17{\pm}0.67$, $2.97{\pm}0.44$ and $2.92{\pm}0.42ton{\cdot}ha^{-1}{\cdot}yr^{-1}$, respectively. In the unburned site, the average amounts of total nitogen(T-N), total phosphorus(T-P), potassium(K), calcium(Ca) and magnesium(Mg) returned to the forest floor were $22.20{\pm}12.43$, $1.16{\pm}0.46$, $2.68{\pm}1.44$, $16.22{\pm}4.69$ and $1.36{\pm}0.32 kg{\cdot}ha^{-1}{\cdot}yr^{-1}$, respectively whereas those in the crown fire site(C-1) were $3.73{\pm}2.31$, $0.10{\pm}0.09$, $0.27{\pm}0.20$, $2.75{\pm}2.58$ and $0.24{\pm}0.27 kg{\cdot}ha^{-1}{\cdot}yr^{-1}$, respectively. This study showed that the nutrient content returned to forest floor was higher in the following order: unburned site(Un) > crown fire site(C-3) > ground fire site(G-2) > crown fire site(C-1).
