운전자 눈 위치를 이용한 사이드미러와 룸미러 자동조절시스템 (Automatic Side Mirror and Room Mirror Adjustment System using 3D Location of Driver′s Eyes)

  • This paper describes a mirror control system that can adjust the location of side and room mirror of the vehicle automatically using 3D coordinates to monitor the location of driver's eyes. Through analysis of the image inputted by two B/W CCD camera and infrared lamps installed on top of the driver's dashboard, we can estimate the values of 3D coordinate of the driver's eyes. Using these values, this system can determine the absolute position of each mirror and activate each actuator to the appropriate position. The stereo vision system can detect the driver's eyes whether it is day or night by virtue of infrared Lamps. We have tested this system using 10 drivers who drive a car currently, and most of the drivers were satisfied with the convenience of this system.

  • This paper presents operating process and design method on the linear compressor Stirling cryocooler for cooling infrared detector. The free piston-type Stirling cryocooler, which applies 1) the Stirling cycle for refrigeration, 2) linear motors for driving, 3) flexure bearings for support systems, and 4) fine gap for clearance seals, is the most suitable design for a mechanical cryocooler utilized in a night vision environment.

  • In case of image observation equipments, CCTV for short distance visual field is usually installed and operated mostly as the means of crime-prevention. However, the extensive demand for monitoring problems in case of the increase in intelligent crimes and disasters has led to the necessity of the development of long-distance observation equipments embedded with Night View functions. In case of the Night View equipments, the relevant market is set up to be focused mostly on Thermal Observation Device(hereinafter, TOD), but some shortcomings such as the limitation of image visibility and excessive maintenance cost, etc. have actually caused the necessity of new long distance Night View equipment. Moreover there might follow lots of difficulties in long-distance visualization in the event that irregular reflection is generated by minute particles in the atmosphere such as fog, smog, and dust, etc. These factors are motivate the work presented in this study. Our study is aimed at the realization of Pulsed Laser Illuminator and newly proposed Range-Gated image acquisition technology. And also the implementation of Tracker for continuous trace of the objects of interest from the obtained sequence images.

신호세기를 이용한 2차원 레이저 스캐너 기반 노면표시 분류 기법 (Road marking classification method based on intensity of 2D Laser Scanner)

  • With the development of autonomous vehicle, there has been active research on advanced driver assistance system for road marking detection using vision sensor and 3D Laser scanner. However, vision sensor has the weak points that detection is difficult in situations involving severe illumination variance, such as at night, inside a tunnel or in a shaded area; and that processing time is long because of a large amount of data from both vision sensor and 3D Laser scanner. Accordingly, this paper proposes a road marking detection and classification method using single 2D Laser scanner. This method road marking detection and classification based on accumulation distance data and intensity data acquired through 2D Laser scanner. Experiments using a real autonomous vehicle in a real environment showed that calculation time decreased in comparison with 3D Laser scanner-based method, thus demonstrating the possibility of road marking type classification using single 2D Laser scanner.

차선 인접 에지 검출에 강인한 필터를 이용한 비전 센서 기반 차선 검출 시스템 (Lane Detection System Based on Vision Sensors Using a Robust Filter for Inner Edge Detection)

  • In this paper, a lane detection and tracking algorithm based on vision sensors and employing a robust filter for inner edge detection is proposed for developing a lane departure warning system (LDWS). The lateral offset value was precisely calculated by applying the proposed filter for inner edge detection in the region of interest. The proposed algorithm was subsequently compared with an existing algorithm having lateral offset-based warning alarm occurrence time, and an average error of approximately 15ms was observed. Tests were also conducted to verify whether a warning alarm is generated when a driver departs from a lane, and an average accuracy of approximately 94% was observed. Additionally, the proposed LDWS was implemented as an embedded system, mounted on a test vehicle, and was made to travel for approximately 100km for obtaining experimental results. Obtained results indicate that the average lane detection rates at day time and night time are approximately 97% and 96%, respectively. Furthermore, the processing time of the embedded system is found to be approximately 12fps.

안경렌즈의 자외선 차단 평가 (Evaluation of Ultraviolet Blocking of Ophthalmic Lenses)

  • 목적: 투명과 착색 안경렌즈의 자외선 차단 특성을 평가하고자 하였다. 방법: 안경렌즈의 투과 스펙트럼은 ANSI Z80.1에 제시된 방법으로 측정하였고, UV(200~380 nm; UVA, UVB, UVC) 및 청색광 영역(380~400 nm)에 대하여 각 렌즈의 투과율을 계산하였다. 결과: 중굴절률, 고굴절률의 투명 플라스틱 렌즈 및 착색 플라스틱 렌즈는 UV에서 우수한 자외선 차단 특성을 보였으나, 자외선 차단제를 처리하지 않은 크라운 유리나 CR39는 그렇지 않았다. 고굴절률 렌즈와 눈부심 방지 야간용 렌즈를 제외한 모든 렌즈는 청색광을 효과적으로 차단하지 않았다. 결론: 크라운 유리와 CR39 렌즈는 UV로부터 눈을 보호하기 위해서 자외선 차단제가 필요하다. 또한 고굴절률 렌즈와 눈부심 방지 야간용 렌즈를 제외한 모든 렌즈는 청색광으로부터 눈을 보호하기 위해서 청색광 차단제가 필요하다.

Lane Detection Algorithm for Night-time Digital Image Based on Distribution Feature of Boundary Pixels

  • This paper presents a novel algorithm for nighttime detection of the lane markers painted on a road at night. First of all, the proposed algorithm uses neighborhood average filtering, 8-directional Sobel operator and thresholding segmentation based on OTSU's to handle raw lane images taken from a digital CCD camera. Secondly, combining intensity map and gradient map, we analyze the distribution features of pixels on boundaries of lanes in the nighttime and construct 4 feature sets for these points, which are helpful to supply with sufficient data related to lane boundaries to detect lane markers much more robustly. Then, the searching method in multiple directions- horizontal, vertical and diagonal directions, is conducted to eliminate the noise points on lane boundaries. Adapted Hough transformation is utilized to obtain the feature parameters related to the lane edge. The proposed algorithm can not only significantly improve detection performance for the lane marker, but it requires less computational power. Finally, the algorithm is proved to be reliable and robust in lane detection in a nighttime scenario.

낮은 도로 조명의 노면 휘도 실태 분석에 대한 연구 (The Study on the Analysis of Road Surface Brightness of Low Mounted Road Lighting System)

  • Low road lighting is a lighting device that complements the shortcomings of existing pillar-type street lights. It is a lighting device that emits light from the side of the road surface and adjusts the luminance of the road surface like a light carpet. In this paper, to achieve full commercialization, we analyzed the luminance of the installed road surface and studied whether lighting could replace existing road lighting. In this study, the LMK (Luminance Measurement Camera) LABSOFT program was used to measure and analyze the surface luminance of road lighting, and the RELUX program was used to evaluate and analyze the simulation performance to determine light-based lighting conditions. A study was conducted to determine whether replacing pillar-type road lighting with low-level road lighting in a real environment would ensure comfortable and safe night vision for drivers at night.

도로명판 및 교통표지판 인지에 미치는 시기능의 영향 (Impact of Visual Performance on Recognition of Road and Traffic Sign)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 서로 다른 시력조건하에서 도로명판과 도로표지판에 대한 판독거리와 판독시 안구의 움직임 (응시시간, 응시수)에 대한 측정을 수행하였다. 실험은 실제 도로상황과 유사한 환경을 가진 폐쇄순환도로에서 피실험자가 실제 차량을 운전하면서 실시되었으며, 실험을 위하여 규격에 맞게 제작되어진 도로명판과, 도로 양옆에 위치해 있는 실제 교통표지판 (도로명판, 속도제한 표지판)을 이용하였다. 시력조건은 안경렌즈를 이용하여, 시력이 1.2인 조건과 1.0 그리고 0.8의 조건을 구현하였으며, 각 실험자가 3가지의 시력 조건에 대해 실험을 수행하였다. 시력조건이 1.2 인 경우와 0.8인경우의 판독거리는 유의한 수준의 차이를 보였으며, 응시시간과 응시수는 표지판의 크기가 작은 경우에 시력조건별 차이를 보였다. 본 연구의 결과는 운전에 있어서 시력 교정의 중요성을 보여주었으며, 운전면허 기준시력을 넘는다고 해도 시력의 정도에 따라 판독거리, 그리고 판독시 안구운동의 효율성에서 차이를 보일 수 있다.

컴퓨터비전 기반의 야간 후방 차량 탐지 방법 (A Computer Vision-based Method for Detecting Rear Vehicles at Night)

  • 본 논문은 전조등의 특징을 이용하여 야간에 측후방에서 다가오는 차량을 탐지하는 방법을 설명한다. 야간 차량의 전조등은 검은색 배경의 야간 도로 영상에서 측후방 차량을 탐지하기 위한 좋은 특징이다. 입력 영상은 임계값 처리기법에 의해 검은색 배경과 흰색 영역으로 이루어지는 이진 영상으로 변환되고, 모폴로지 연산 중 열림 연산을 이용하여 잡음을 제거한다. 분할된 흰색 영역들에 대해 기하학적 특징과 모멘트 특징을 이용하여 전조등의 특징량을 측정하고, 의사 결정 트리에 의해 전조등 후보로 적당한 대상체들을 분류한다. 대상체들간의 위상학적 관계를 분석하여 한 쌍의 전조등을 탈지함으로써 측후방 차량을 탐지한다. 실험 결과 전조등 특징을 이용한 야간 측후방 차량 탐지 방법이 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 제안한 방법은 야간 측후방 추돌경보시스템에 적용될 수 있으며, 향후에는 스테레오비전시스템을 사용하여 전조등 탐지 기반의 측후방 차량 거리 및 위치 측정에 관한 연구를 수행할 것이다.
