습식 환원법에 의한 니켈 미분말의 제조 (Preparation of Ultrafine Nickel Powders by Wet Reduction Process)

  • Nickel powders were prepared from nickel chloride solution by wet reduction process, and the size control of the particles was investigated with reactant concentration, dispersant agent, and the addition of ethanol as an organic solvent in NiCl$_2$ aqueous solution. The size of the particle decreased with the increase of nickel chloride concentration. Their average particle size were 1.9$\mu\textrm{m}$, 1.6$\mu\textrm{m}$ and $1.5\mu\textrm{m}$ with 0.5M, 0.8M and 1.0M of nickel chloride concentration respectively. The spherical particle was easily controlled by the addition of ethanol as an organic solvent. Especially, in 30 vol% of ethanol, the average particle size and specific surface area were about 0.2$\mu\textrm{m}$ and 8.98m$^2$/g, respectively.

  • 본 연구에서는 재래식 및 마이크로파 합성법을 통하여 비수계 유기용매인 diethanolamine을 용매로 하여 초산니켈 수용액과 히드라진 수화물로부터 니켈 분말을 합성하였다. X선 회절분석, 주사 전자현미경 분석, 열분석 및 X선 광전자 분광기 분석등을 통하여 마이크로파의 비열적 효과 및 반응 조건이 니켈분말의 합성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 재래식 합성과 비교해보면, 마이크로파를 이용한 합성에서 마이크로파의 비열적 효과에 기인하여 상대적으로 응집이 적게 일어나고, 입자 크기는 작고, 입도 분포는 균일하였다.

  • 여러 가지 금속을 에칭하기 위하여 사용된 $FeCl_3$ 폐용액은 유가금속인 니켈을 함유하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 염화철을 재생하고 남은 니켈 함유 에칭폐액으로부터 니켈을 고순도의 탄산니켈 결정분말로 회수하고자 하였다. 5 % NaOH 수용액을 이용하여 pH 4의 조건에서 1차적으로 철 성분의 불순물을 약 97 % 제거하고 추가적으로 남은 불순물을 제거하기 위하여 용매추출제 D2EHPA(Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid)를 사용하여 불순물로서 존재하는 금속이온들을 약 99% 제거하였다. 그 후 불순물이 제거된 염화니켈 용액에 탄산나트륨과의 반응을 통하여 99.9 % 이상의 순도를 가진 탄산니켈분말을 얻을 수 있었다.

A study on the synthesis of fine nickel hydroxide crystalline powder using the taylor fluid flow

  • In this study, nickel hydroxide crystalline powders were synthesized by continuous reaction in the taylor fluid flow using nickel chloride, nickel sulphate and sodium hydroxide as raw materials and compared with those prepared by a conventional batch type reaction. The crystallinity of nickel hydroxide prepared by the Taylor fluid flow reaction was higher than that of nickel hydroxide obtained by batch reaction. The particle size of nickel hydroxide decreased about 2.5 to 3.6 times, and the specific surface area was increased.

  • The reduction of $Ni(OH)_2$ by hydrazine-sodium phosphinate in water and water-diethylene glycol solutions for the preparation of spherical nickel particles has been studied at room temperature. The effect of reaction conditions on the size and morphology of Ni powder was revealed using SEM and XRD analysis technique. It was shown that in the presence of sodium phosphinate the reduction process become activated and a formation of Ni particles was completed within several minutes at room temperature. As a desired result spherical Ni powders with particles size from 0.07 to 2.0 mm were obtained.

Ni-MH 전지용 thin nickel foam의 제조 (Preparation of Thin Nickel Foam for Nickel-Metal Hydride Battery)

  • A new method for preparation of thin nickel foam for Ni-MH battery was investigated. In this method, fine graphite powders of $1\mu\textrm{m}$$2\mu\textrm{m}$ diameter were pasted into pores of thin polyurethane foam film in order to supply electric conducting seeds for nickel deposition by electroless plating reaction. After electroless plating, remaining polyurethane foam was removed chemically by organic solvent treatment and graphite particles also removed by ultrasonic cleaning. Porosity of formed nickel foam was about 85% During electroplating, porosity of the nickel foam decreased less than 5% up to $30\mu\textrm{m}$ coating thickness. And then it was electroplated and heat-treated to improve mechanical strength and ductility. Finally, thin nickel foam for Ni electrode of Ni-MH battery with 80% porosity and $350\mu\textrm{m}$~X$400\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness was obtained.

Ni-B 분말의 기계적 합금화 과정에서 밀링시간에 따른 미세조직과 상변화 거동 (Effect of Milling Time on the Microstructure and Phase Transformation Behaviors of Ni-B Powder During Mechanical Alloying Process)

  • In this study, the effect of milling time on the microstructure and phase transformation behaviors of Ni-12 wt.%B powders was investigated using vibratory ball milling process. X-ray diffraction patterns showed that the phase transformation of mixed Ni-B elemental powder occurred after 50 hours of milling, with a formation of nickel boride phases. Through the study of microstructures in mechanical alloying process, it was considered that ball milling strongly accelerates solid-state diffusions of the Ni and B atoms during mechanical alloying process. The results of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy showed that most of B atoms in the powder were linked to Ni with a formation of nickel boride phases after 200 hours of milling. It was finally concluded that mechanical alloying using ball milling process is feasible to synthesize fine and uniform nickel boride powders.

PVA 폴리머를 이용한 니켈 알루미네이트 분말의 합성 및 특성연구 (Characteristics of Nickel Aluminate Ceramics Synthesized by Organic (PVA)-Inorganic Solution Technique)

  • 고순도의 세라믹분말을 합성할 수 있는 용액 화학적 합성방법의 하나로서, 폴리머를 이용한 분말합성방법이 개발되었다. 본 연구에서는 PVA(Polyvinyl Alcohol)을 이용하여 니켈 알루미네이트(NiAl$_2$O$_4$) 분말을 합성하였다. PVA 첨가에 의하여 용액내의 금속 양이온들의 분산을 극대화하며, 순수한 니켈 알루미네이트를 얻기 위한 결정화 온도를 낮출 수 있었다. PVA 폴리머를 이용함으로써 분쇄가 용이한 부드러운 팽창성 분말을 얻을 수 있었으며, 볼 밀링에 의하여 약 300 nm의 크기를 보이는 좁은 입도의 미세한 분말이 얻어졌다 1$600^{\circ}C$, 1시간 소결에 의하여 4.35 g/㎤의 밀도를 보이는 치밀한 니켈 알루미네이트를 얻을 수 있었으며, 측정된 경도, 곡강도, 파괴인성 및 열팽창계수 값은 각각 14.2 ㎬, 304 ㎫, 4.8 ㎫.m$^{1}$2/과 9.8$\times$$10^{-6}$/$^{\circ}C$를 보였다.
