In this study, nano-sized powder of Ni-ferrite was fabricated by spray pyrolysis process using the Fe-Ni complex waste acid solution generated during the shadow mask processing. The average particle size of the produced powder was below 100 nm. The effects of the reaction temperature, the inlet speed of solution and the air pressure on the properties of powder were studied. As the reaction temperature increased from 80$0^{\circ}C$ to 110$0^{\circ}C$, the average particle size of the powder increased from 40 nm to 100 nm, the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase was also on the rise, and the surface area of the powder was greatly reduced. As the inlet speed of solution increased from 2 cc/min. to 10 cc/min., the average particle size of the powder greatly increased, and the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase was on the rise. As the inlet speed of solution increased to 100 cc/min., the average particle size of the powder decreased slightly and the distribution of the particle size appeared more irregular. Along with the increase of the inlet speed of solution more than 10 cc/min., the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase was decreased. As the air pressure increased up to 1 $kg/cm^2, the average particle size of the powder and the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase was almost constant. In case of 3 $kg/cm^2 air pressure, the average particle size of the powder and the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase remarkably decreased.

A new extra-fine grade Ni powder (XF Ni) has demonstrated increased sintering activity in Co-Fe-Ni binders for diamond tool applications. XF Ni has the advantage of significantly lower cost than XF Co. Up to 30% of XF Co was substituted with XF Ni while maintaining comparable apparent hardness and transverse rupture strength to pure Co binders. Ni substantially increased the diffusion of Fe. Diamond tool producers can take advantage of the improved sintering properties of XF Ni powder to substantially lower material costs.
TiC-Ni and TiC-Ni-Mo cermet powders were produced by Self-propagating High temperature Synthesis (SHS) process. The cooling rate of synthesized powders were controlled by using the V-shaped copper jig and the carbide size decreased with increasing the cooling rate I. e decreasing the width of copper jig Round shape carbide particles were produced after SHS reaction in TiC-Ni as well as TiC-Ni-Mo powders. Local segregation of Mo rich phases was observed in SHS powder of TiC-Ni-Mo and the uneven dis-triobution of Mo promoted the faster growth rate of carbide particles during sintering compared to the same composition specimen with commercial TiC powder. Howogeneous microstructure of TiC-Ni-Mo cermet was obtained when the elemental Mo powder was mixed with the SHS powder of TiC-Ni.
The property and performance of the $Al_2O_3/Ni$ nanocomposites have been known to strongly depend on the structural feature of Ni nanodispersoids which affects considerably the structure of matrix. Such nanodispersoids undergo structural evolution in the process of consolidation. Thus, it is very important to understand the microstructural development of Ni nanodispersoids depending on the structure change of the matrix by consolidation. The present investigation has focused on the growth mechanism of Ni nanodispersoids in the initial stage of sintering. $Al_2O_3/Ni$ powder mixtures were prepared by wet ball milling and hydrogen reduction of $Al_2O_3$ and Ni oxide powders. Microstructural development and the growth mechanism of Ni dispersion during isothermal sintering were investigated depending on the porosity and structure of powder compacts. The growth mechanism of Ni was discussed based upon the reported kinetic mechanisms. It is found that the growth mechanism is closely related to the structural change of the compacts that affect material transport for coarsening. The result revealed that with decreasing porosity by consolidation the growth mechanism of Ni nanoparticles is changed from the migration-coalescence process to the interparticle transport mechanism.

Silver-Nickel alloy has been used as a electrical contact material for low voltage, low current. Since the solubility between Ag and Ni is very low, it is difficult to produce Ag-Ni alloy by using conventional melting method and disperse Ni powder homogeneously in Ag matrix. In this study we have been produced fine Ag-Ni alloy powder by using coprecipitation method. Firstly, we have produced silver-nickel nitrate solution by dissolving the Ag and Ni ingot in nitric acid solution and then, coprecipitate (Ag, Ni)carbonate dropping Ag-Ni nitrate solution to sodium carbonate solution. (Ag, Ni) carbonate is heat-treated in $H_2$ atmosphere, $400^{\circ}C$ and it has been analysed by TGA, SEM, XRD, ICP. It is represented Silver-Nickel alloy powder in the particle range of $0.1{\sim}0.5{\mu}m$.
In the present study, the effect of Ni content on densification and grain growth in Ni doped W compacts was investigated by using the dilatometric analysis. The Ni-doped W compacts with various amount of Ni activator from 0.02 to 0.4 wt% were sintered in hydrogen atmosphere up to 140$0^{\circ}C$. As the amount of Ni and heating rates, the Ni-doped W compacts show a greatly different dilatometric behavior during the sintering. The sintered specimen was densified over 98% of theoretical density by adding only 0.06 wt% Wi in sub-micron W powder and the appropriate heating rate. It was also observed that the microstructure development strongly depended on the change of the Ni amount. In addition, it was found that the critical content of Ni showing large grain growth in microstructure was below 0.1 wt%.

Micro-porous nickel (Ni) with an open cell structure was fabricated by powder metallurgy. The pore size of the micro-porous Ni approximated $30{\mu}m$ and $150{\mu}m$. For comparison, porous Ni with a macro-porous structure were also prepared by both powder metallurgy (pore size $800{\mu}m$) and the traditional chemical vapour deposition method (pore size $1300{\mu}m$). The mechanical properties of the micro-and macro-porous Ni samples were evaluated using compressive tests. Results indicate that the micro-porous Ni samples exhibited significantly enhanced mechanical properties, compared to those of the macro-porous Ni samples.
Ni-diamond composite powders with nickel layer of round-top type on the surface of synthetic diamond (140/170 mesh) were prepared by the electroless plating method (EN) with semi-batch reactor. The effects of nickel concentration, feeding rates of reductant, temperature, reaction time and stirring speeds on the weight percentage and morphology of deposited Ni, mean particle size and specific surface area of the composite powders were investigated by Atomic Adsortion Spectrometer, SEM-EDX, PSA and BET. It was found that nucleated Ni-P islands, acted as catalytic sites for further deposition and grown into these relatively thick layers with nodule-type on the surface of diamond by a lateral growth mechanism. The weight percentage of Ni in the composite powder increased with reaction time, feeding rate of reductant and temperature, but decreased with stirring speed. The weight percentage of Ni in Ni-diamond composite powder was 55% at 150 min., 200 rpm and 7$0^{\circ}C$ .

Ni-33.3at%Si elemental powder mixtures were mechanically alloyed by a high-energy ball mill, followed by CIP (cold isostatic pressing) and HIP (hot isostatic pressing) for different processing conditions. Only elemental phases (Ni and Si) were observed for the 15 min mechanically alloyed (MA 15 min) powder. but $Ni_2$Si and elemental phases were observed to coexist for the 30 min mechanically alloyed (MA 30 min) powder. Elemental Ni and $Ni_2$Si phases were observed for the HIPed compact of MA 15 min powder at 100 and 150 MPa for 2 hr at $800^{\circ}C$. Only the $Ni_2$Si phase was, however, observed for the HIPed compacts of MA 30 min powder. For the HIPed compacts, the highest sintered density was obtained to be 99.5% of theoretical density by a HIP step at $1100^{\circ}C$ at 150MPa for 2hr. The hardness values of the HIPed $Ni_2$Si compacts at $1100^{\circ}C$ at 100/150 MPa for 2 hr were higher than HRC 66. The densification and mechanical property of HIPed $Ni_2$Si compacts were found to depend on more HIP temperature than HIP pressure.
PAS(Plasma Activated Sintering) process was tried to apply for the fabrication of BMG(Bulk Metallic Glasses) of $Ni_{57}Zr_{20}Ti_{18}Si_5}\;and\;Ni_{57}Zr_{20}Ti_{18}Si_3Sn_2$ from the as-atomized amorphous powder. Compressive strength for the BMG(bulk Metallic Glasses) of $Ni_{57}Zr_{20}Ti_{18}Si_5$ were lower than those of BMG rods produced by warm extrusion ,or copper mold casting method. Microstructural examination by optical microcope, SEM ana EDS showed that oxidation had occurred during PASintering. In order to prevent the powder from the oxidation during PASintering, Ni coating for $Ni_{57}Zr_{20}Ti_{18}Si_5$ amorphous powder by electroless-plating method was performed. Microstructural examination for Ni coated layers after PASintering indicated that the Ni coating had been so effective to prevent powder from oxidation during PASintering. Sintering behaviors of $Ni_{57}Zr_{20}Ti_{18}Si_3Sn_2$ represent the same as those of $Ni_{57}Zr_{20}Ti_{18}Si_5$.
