The Influences of Graphite Shape and Alloying Elements(Mn, Ni) on the Thermal Properties of Cast Iron. (주철의 열적 성질에 미치는 흑연현상 및 첨가원소(Mn, Ni)의 영향)

  • SGCI(Spheroidal Graphite Cast Iron), CVGCI(CV Graphite Cast Iron) and FGCI(Flake Graphite Cast Iron) having different contents of Mn($0.25%{\sim}0.85%$) and Ni($0.3%{\sim}1.2%$) were produced, respectively. The thermal expansion and thermal conductivity of the cast iron were investigated in the temperature range of $50^{\circ}C{\sim}300^{\circ}C$. As the graphite nodularity of the cast iron increases, thermal expansion coefficient increases, thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity to thermal conductivity ratio decrease. The thermal expansion coefficient of the cast iron increases with increasing Mn content and decreases with increasing Ni content. The thermal conductivity of the cast iron decreases with increasing Mn and Ni contents.

  • This study has been performed in increase the wear resistance characteristic and the mechanical properties of high Mn steel castings with an addition of Ni to $1{\sim}4%$ range. The initial structure of plastic cememtite has been possible to transform perfect austenite with watertoughening treatment. Increasing Ni content, the most wear loss has shown that ore has crushed until 100kg and decreased with increasing ore amount at ascast, the similar tendency has shown at heat treatment. Chang of hardness has shown high values that ore has been crushed until 300kg, both as cast and treatment added 2%Ni.

Fabrication of Graded-Boundary Ni/steel Material by Electron Beam (전자빔에 의한 조성구배계면 Ni/Steel 합금재료의 개발)

  • Electron beam was applied on the low carbon steel in order to fabricate Metal/Metal GBM(Graded Boundary Material). Ni sheet was placed on the steel substrate. The electron beam was irradiated on the surface and produced a homogeous alloyed layer. Sequential repetition of electron beam treatments for 4 times resulted in 8mm thick graded layer. To determine each layers property, optical microscopy, XRD, microhardness tester and EDS were used. The residual stress was measured by the low angle x-ray diffraction method. The graded boundary layer was stepwise profile, but Ni content incresed up to 80 wt% and Fe content decreased 20 wt% near surface. Each layers microstructure and hardness varied by different Fe/Ni composition. The compressive residual stress was induced by martensite transformation in the 1st and End layers and the shrinkage cracks were formed in graded layer by rapid cooling.

  • This present study was investigated effect of Ni contents on the high temperature strength characteristic in 9Cr ferritic heat-resistant steel added 1.7%W in place of Mo in order to restraint laves phase formation. Precipitation amount of carbide, number of particle per unit area and particle size of carbide were decreased with increase of Ni content. In the steels, carbides of $M_{23}C_6$ type was mainly precipitated, but laves phases could not precipitated. Tensile and yield strength, creep strength and creep rupture time was decreased, but elongation were increased due to decreasing of particle number per unite area and carbide amount precipitated with increase of Ni content.

  • The research and development for the solid oxide fuel cell have been promoted rapidly and extensively in recent years, because of their high efficiency and future potential. Therefore this paper describes the manufacturing method and characteristics of anode electrode for SOFC, by the way, Ni-YSZ materials are used as anode of SOFC widely. So in this experiments, we investigated the optimum content of Ni, by testing expansion coefficient, impedance characteristics, overvoltage. As a result, the performance of Ni-YSZ anode(40vol%) was better excellent than the others.

  • The effect of Cu substitution on the properties of NiZn ferrites sintered at low temperature with composition is investigated. The densification of NiCuZn ferrite in dependent upon Cu content in the composition of (N/sub 0.5-x/Cu/sub x/ Zn/sub 0.5/O)(Fe/sub 2/O/sub 3/)/sub 0.98/. Electrical resistivity is maximum at x=0.2. Dispersion characteristics of complex permeability of (Ni/sub 0.5-x/ Cu/sub x/Zn/sub 0.5/O)(Fe/sub 2/O/sub 3)/sub 0.98/ is observed above x=0.3 and relaxation frequency increases with higher temperature. The magnetic loss of NiCuZn ferrite is occurred above the Cu content x=0.3 at a low frequency.

  • 무전해 Ni-P와 Sn의 반응 및 Ni-P의 결정화에 대한 P 함량의 영향을 세 가지 다른 조성의 Ni-P (P 4.6, 9, 13 $wt.\%$)를 이용하여 연구하였다. $300^{\circ}C$까지 열처리한 모든 시편에서 $Ni_3Sn_4$ intermetallic compound (IMC)가 생성되었고 이들 시편을 $450^{\circ}C$까지 열처리한 경우 Sn 두께가 $0.5{\mu}m$로 작을 때 $Ni_3Sn_4$가 모두 $Ni_3Sn_2$로 변화하였다. nanocrystal인 Ni-4.6P는 Ni (111) texture를 유지하며 결정화되었고 Sn과의 반응시 형성되는 $Ni_3Sn_4$ IMC 또한 비정질인 Ni-9P, Ni-13P 경우보다 강한 (111) texture를 가짐이 확인되었다. Ni-P 막의 P 함량이 작은 경우 $Ni_3Sn_4$ IMC는 두껍고 조밀하게 형성되는 반면 P-rich layer 두께는 작아졌다.

  • This study was to evaluate the effect of carbon content on metallic change and fatigue characteristics with Fe-29%Ni-17%Co, low heat expansion alloy, widely using electronic components, precision machines, and sealing with glass and metal etc. The steels were fabricated with variation of carbon content, 0, 0.03, 0.06, 0.1, and 0.20% with VIM and tensile test and fatigue test were performed to achieve the above purpose. The more carbon content, the higher hardness value and yield strength. But elongation of 0.03%C, 0.06%C, and 0.10%C specimen decreased about 2.2%, 1.5% and 0.8% respectively more than that of the base metal. Especially the strength and elongation of 0.20%C specimen increased simultaneously about 14.4% and 7.5%. Fatigue life of 0.03%C specimen decreased but the more carbon content, the higher fatigue life over 0.06% carbon content more than that of base metal.

  • Ductile cast iron has good ductility and toughness, for the graphite morphology is spheroidal. It has been reported that the strengthening and toughening of the ductile cast iron was resulted from the modification of matrix structure by the heat treatment or the addition of alloying elements. In this study, effects of various special heat treatments (cyclic heat treatment and intermediate heat treatment) and Ni addition on the toughness and strength of the austempered ductile cast iron were studied. The results obtained from this study were as follows : 1. The amount of fine pearlite was increased with the Ni content and the number of cycle in cyclic heat treatment. 2. When the specimens treated and not by special heat treatment at 820 was austempered, in the former the austenite was formed on grain boundary entirely, but in the latter on grain boundary partially. 3. The impact energy was decreased with the Ni content, because the coarisen austenite pools formed with the Ni content was transformed into martensite during quenching. 4. The mechanical properties of austempered ductile cast iron containing 2%Ni treated cyclic heat treatment(5 cycles)was very excellent in handness 99(HRB), impact energy 12(kg-m) maximum fracture load 1500(kg-f).

  • Electroless Ni-Cu-P alloy plating of Al base hard disk was performed to investigate some properties according to the change of composition. It was found that the composition of Ni and Cu in deposits changed linearly with increasing the mole ratio of NiSO4.6H2O/CuSO4.5H2O. The increase in hardness by heat - treatment was confirmed to be associated with small size grained crystallization of the amorphous deposits. Acid resistance of all deposits layer. which had been heated up to 30$0^{\circ}C$, was found to be exellent when immersed in 1N-H2SO4 solution, and it showed more superior acid resistance with decreasing Cu content and with increasing P. The resistivity of the deposits heat treated became smaller at temperature more than 50$0^{\circ}C$, and it became largerly with increasing P content. Cu 44.1wt% alloy(C bath) showed the most superior non-magnetically stable characteristics after heat treatment. It was superiorly with higher temperature and with decreasing P content.
