원자력 중간열교환기 열수송계 소재의 표면처리 (Surface Treatment of IHX Materials for VHTR)

  • $900^{\circ}C$이상 초고온 He-gas 분위기 또는 용융불화염 (molten salts, FLINAK) 환경에서 사용될 VHTR(Very High Temperature Reactor)의 IHX(Intermediate heat exchanger)용 열수송 구조재료로 가장 가능성이 높은 합금인 Inconel 617 및 Hastelloy X 상에 습식화학적, 물리적기상합성법(Vacuum arc-plasma과 RF magnetron sputtering) 및 pack cementation에 의한 표면개질 및 마이크로 초내열(refractory ceramics) 코팅층(TiN, TiCN, TiAlN, $Al_2O_3$, $TiO_2$)을 형성시켰다. 고온 장기사용 시 문제가 될 수 있는 고온에서의 조직변화, 미세구조와 상(phase)형성, 고온 부식 및 그에 따른 마모(wear resistance) 손상 등 이들 소재의 내열, 내식 및 내마모 물성을 개선하는 연구를 수행하였다. TiAlN 박막의 경우 공기분위기에서 N이 분해되나 치밀한 산화물($TiO_2/Al_2O_3$ layer)을 형성하여 내식성 있는 보호피막을 형성함으로 기판과의 열팽창 계수로 인한 박리가 발생하지 않아 보호피막으로 적합하였다. Pack cementation법에 의한 aluminiding(Al-Ni합금)도 He 및 공기분위기에서 고온물성의 저하를 가져오는 $Cr_2O_3$의 생성을 충분히 억제하고 있었으며 He 및 air 분위기에서 사용이 가능한 박막으로 여겨진다. 내열 및 내식성에 대한 실험을 종합한 결과, 공기분위기에서 사용할 수 없는 박막은 He-gas 및 FLINAK(LiF-NaF-KF) 용융염 분위기에서도 사용할 수 없었으며, He-gas, FLINAK 및 air 분위기에서 모두 사용이 가능한 박막으로는 Inconel 617에서는 $(TiO_2-)Al_2O_3$, TiAlN 및 Al-Ni이었고 Hastelloy에서는 Al-Ni 및 $Al_2O_3$가 가장 적당하였다.

$L1_2$${\gamma}^{\prime}-Ni_3(Al,Ti)$ 규칙상 중에 불규칙 ${\gamma}$상의 석출거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Precipitation Behavior of Disordered ${\gamma}$ Phase in an $L1_2$ Ordered ${\gamma}^{\prime}-Ni_3(Al,Ti)$ Phase)

  • Structural studies have been performed on precipitation hardening found in $L1_2$ ordered ${\gamma}^{\prime}-Ni_3(Al,Ti)$ alloys using transmission electron microscopy. A uniform solid solution of ${\gamma}^{\prime}-L1_2$ ordered phase supersaturated with Ni can be obtained by solution annealing in a suitable temperature range. The ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ phase hardens appreciably by the fine precipitation of disordered ${\gamma}$. The shape of ${\gamma}$ precipitates formed during aging is initially spherical or round-cubic and grow into platelets as aging proceeds. High resolution electron microscopy revealed that the ${\gamma}$ precipitates are perfectly coherent with the matrix ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ as long as the ${\gamma}$-precipitates are plates. The loss of coherency initiates by the introduction of dislocations at the ${\gamma}/{\gamma}^{\prime}$ interface followed by the step formation at the dislocations. The ${\gamma}$ precipitates become globular after the loss of coherency. The strength of ${\gamma}^{\prime}-Ni_3(Al,Ti)$ increases over the temperature range of experiment by the precipitation of fine ${\gamma}$ particles. The peak temperature where a maximum strength was obtained shifted to higher temperature.

분무성형공정에 의한 세라믹미립자 강화형 금속간화합물 복합재료의 고온파괴거동 (High Temperature Fracture Mechanisms in Monolithic and Particulate Reinforced Intermetallic Matrix Composite Processed by Spray Atomization and Co-Deposition)

  • Intermetallic-matrix composites(IMCs) have the potential of combing matrix properties of oxidation resistance and high temperature stability with reinforcement properties of high specific strength and modulus. One of the major limiting factors for successful applications of these composite at high temperatures is the formation of interfacial reactions between matrix and ceramic reinforcement during composite process and during service. The purpose of the present investigation is to develop a better understanding of the nature of creep fracture mechanisms in a $Ni_{3}Al$ composite reinforced with both $TiB_{2}$ and SiC particulates. Emphasis is placed in the roles of the products of the reactions in determining the creep lifetime of the composite. In the present study, creep rupture specimens were tested under constant ranging from 180 to 350 MPa in vacuum at $760^{\cric}C$. The experimental data reveal that the stress exponent for power law creep for the composite is 3.5, a value close to that for unreinforced $Ni_{3}Al$. The microstructural observations reveal that most of the cavities lie on the grain boundaries of the $Ni_{3}Al$ matrix as opposed to the large $TiB_{2}/Ni_{3}Al$ interfaces, suggesting that cavities nucleate at fine carbides that lie in the $Ni_{3}Al$ grain boundaries as a result of the decomposition of the $SiC_{p}$. This observation accounts for the longer rupture times for the monolicthic $Ni_{3}Al$ as compared to those for the $Ni_{3}Al/SiC_{p}/TiB_{2} IMC$. Finally, it is suggested that creep deformation in matrix appears to dominate the rupture process for monolithic $Ni_{3}Al$, whereas growth and coalescence of cavities appears to dominate the rupture process for the composite.

고온 노출 니켈기 초내열합금 터빈 블레이드의 Cr/Ti/Al 성분이 고온 산화에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Cr/Ti/Al Elements on High Temperature Oxidation Behavior of a Ni-Based Superalloy with Thermal Exposure)

  • High-temperature oxidation of a Ni-based superalloy was analyzed with samples taken from gas turbine blades, where the samples were heat-treated and thermally exposed. The effect of Cr/Ti/Al elements in the alloy on high temperature oxidation was investigated using an optical microscope, SEM/EDS, and TEM. A high-Cr/high-Ti oxide layer was formed on the blade surface under the heat-treated state considered to be the initial stage of high-temperature oxidation. In addition, a PFZ (γ' precipitate free zone) accompanied by Cr carbide of Cr23C6 and high Cr-Co phase as a kind of TCP precipitation was formed under the surface layer. Pits of several ㎛ depth containing high-Al content oxide was observed at the boundary between the oxide layer and PFZ. However, high temperature oxidation formed on the thermally exposed blade surface consisted of the following steps: ① Ti-oxide formation in the center of the oxide layer, ② Cr-oxide formation surrounding the inner oxide layer, and ③ Al-oxide formation in the pits directly under the Cr oxide layer. It is estimated that the Cr content of Ni-based superalloys improves the oxidation resistance of the alloy by forming dense oxide layer, but produced the σ or µ phase of TCP precipitation with the high-Cr component resulting in material brittleness.

금형주조법을 이용한 TiNi/6061Al 지적복합재료의 제조 및 기계적 특성 (Fabrication and Mechanical Properties of TiNi/6061Al Smart Composite by Permanent Mold Casting)

  • 6061Al-matrix composite with TiNi shape memory fiber as reinforcement has been fabricated by Permanent Mold Casting to investigate the mechanical properties of the smart composites. The composites have showed good interface bonding as a result of the analysis of SEM and EDX. The smartness of composite is given due to the shape memory effect of the TiNi fiber which generates compressive residual stresses in the matrix material when heated after being prestrained. The tensile strength of the composites was tested at temperatures between $90^{\circ}C$ and room temperature with increasing amount of pre-strain, and it showed that the tensile strength at $90^{\circ}C$ was higher than that of the room temperature. Especially, the tensile strength of the composite increases with increasing pre-strain. It showed that hardness of matrix was higher than that of common 6061Al alloy.

증착조건에 따른 금속박막의 광투과율 (On the Transmittances of Thin Metal Films for the Evaporating conditions)

  • Oxygen-active 금속, 천이금속 및 oxygen-noble 금속, 즉, Al, Ti, Mn, Ni 그리고 Cuㄹ박막의 광투과율을 조사하였다. Slide-glass 위에 $6{\times}10^{-5}$ ~ $2{\times}10^{-4}$ mbr 압력범위와 0.5 ~ $2{\AA}$/sec 의 증착속도 범위에서 두께를 $85{\AA}$내외로 하여 증착하였다. 증착속도와 진공도는 금속박막의 광학적 성질에 큰 영향을 미치며 이는 주로 산소개입에 의한 것임을 알 수 있었다. 특히 광투과율이 매우 낮다고 알려진 산소와의 친화력이 강한 금속, 즉, Al, Ti, Cr 그리고 Ni의 광투과율을 저 진공도나 느린 증착속도에 의한 증착공정으로 상당히 향상시킬 수 있었다.

니켈기 인코넬 713합금의 800-1100℃에서의 대기중 고온산화 (High-temperature Oxidation of Ni-based Inconel 713 Alloys at 800-1100℃ in Air)

  • The Ni-based superalloy, Inconel 713, was oxidized at $800{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$ for 50 and 100 hours in air. It displayed excellent oxidation resistance, forming a few micrometer-thick scales. The major scale was ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$. Other scales formed were $TiO_2$, $NiAl_2O_4$ and $Cr_2O_3$. Generally, uniform oxidation occurred over the alloy surface, resulting in the formation of ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ with and without $Cr_2O_3$. Other oxides such as $TiO_2$ and $NiAl_2O_4$ sometimes also formed. Locally, nodular oxidation occurred at the nodules that consisted of diverse alloying elements. The scales were adherent at $800^{\circ}C$. However, they spalled a little at $900{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$.
