  • The purpose of this case study is to verify the usefulness of three costing models and a minimum profit management model that can support the logistics warehouse companies in the Busan Newport Distri-park. This case study investigated traditional costing, activity-based costing (ABC), and time-driven ABC (TDABC); and suggested that an appropriate minimum profit management model is contribution margin analysis. Accordingly, in order to verify the usefulness of models, this case study surveyed the actual cost management conditions of companies, applied the three costing models to the "K" warehouse company in the Busan Newport Distri-park, and undertook a comparative study of the results. This case study produced two main findings. First, TDABC was verified as the most useful and advanced of the three costing models tested. Second, contribution margin analysis was confirmed to be the most suitable model to manage minimum profits for port warehouse companies in the Busan Newport Distri-park.

  • The cell-free cellulolytic enzyme was separated into 3 different enzyme proteins by gel-filtration and ion-exchange chromatography. These fractions were named enzyme A, enzyme B and enzyme C. The mode of action of each of the separated enzymes on crystalline cellulose was examined using infrared spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. It was concluded that enzyme B is of the $C_1-type$ and reduces the crystallinity of the subatrate by generation an unstable glucopyranose ring structure, whilst enzymes A and C are of the $C_x-type$ and hydrolyse the reaction product of enzyme B to constituent sugars. A reaction scheme for this cellulase system is proposed and discussed.

  • Today FTAs(Free Trade Agreements) are revving up among countries in the course of glocalization. Dubai, Pudong of Shanghai, Binhai shinku of Tianjin are actively pursuing Free Zones, and Saemangeum District in Korea is under development as growth base in North East Asia. This study aims to present the proper development scale and other development schemes for Samangeum Newport. In conclusion, following several schemes are required; firstly more sophisticated forecasting of demand and supplementation for Saemangeum Newport, secondly development of dedicated container terminals and dedicated food terminals, and finally cruise terminal for the tourist activation.

  • In This paper, the settlements of soft ground and the undrained shear strength were compared for verify the improvement effect of PBD method, completed in the Busan New Port phase 1-1 site. Through the describing of design cases with the PBD method, the effects of the improvement method with CPT data were evaluated comparing with measured results. We expect that the output from this research is useful in future for design and analysis when similar soft grounds are planned to be used.

  • The reclaimed land has peculiar characteristic of nature environment unlike midtown or inland and also, in comparison with inland, has bad weather condition, such as low temperature, strong wind, excessive sunshine, and moisture involved in a salt. Therefore the case of developing water front needs understanding characteristic of weather environment mused by reclamation in detail and proper development and organized maintenance. If development which doesn't investigate topographic and climate characteristic sufficiently is drove ahead, a rise of expense for energy and maintenance is going to be mused by deteriorating weather environmental, occurring a flaw of facility and calculating inaccurate capacity of facility. We looked into the weather state and drew up the standard weather data of the newport area in Busan which is reclaiming and developing now. In this research at the base qf the standard weather data, we calculate the dynamic peak loads for commerce, business and residence and then we utilize the results of the load calculation as basic information to determine facility capacity in the rear city of the newport area.

  • Offshore pile foundations are prone to lateral soil pressures resulting from embankment construction for the reclamation on deepwater soft clay. Since the 1990s, offshore reclamation has actively progressed in Korea, connecting with the development of Songdo newtown, Incheon newport, and Busan newport representatively. Special attention has been given to lateral soil-structure interaction problems related to passively-loaded offshore pile foundations. Based on a plane strain large deformation finite element (LDFE) approach, this paper presents the results of investigation into undrained (short-term) and drained (long-term) behavior of passively-loaded offshore pile foundations. This study examines the effects of major factors, such as soil profile, pile head boundary condition, magnitude of embankment load, and average degree of consolidation. The results allowed quantification of differences in the magnitude of lateral soil pressure acting on the piles between undrained and drained phases.

  • Since land pixels often generate false alarms in ship detection using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), land masking is a necessary step which can be processed by a land area map or water database. However, due to the continuous coastline changes caused by newport, bridge, etc., an updated data should be considered to mask either the land or the oceanic part of SAR. Furthermore, coastal concrete facilities make noise signals, mainly caused by side lobe effect. In this paper, we propose two methods. One is a semi-automatic water body data generation method that consists of terrain correction, thresholding, and median filter. Another is a dynamic land masking method based on water database. Based on water database, it uses a breadth-first search algorithm to find and mask noise signals from coastal concrete facilities. We verified our methods using Sentinel-1 SAR data. The result shows that proposed methods remove maximum 84.42% of false alarms.

  • The study of the gill infection of rockfishes, Sebastes spp. by monogenetic trematodes conducted during March 2002 to June 2002 are presented. Three species are reported krom examination of 23 rockfishes collected from Oregon Coast Aquarium and Newport fish market, Oregon. Ten rockishes belonging to three species showed an infection rate of 43.5%. A total of 135 monogenetic trematodes was found in the gills of Sebastes spp. Of 135 worms recovered from the gills of 4 harbor rockfishes, two were Sebastes maliger, 14 S. melanops, 110 S. pinniger, and 9 S. crameri. Prevalence and intensity in Microcotyle seba.fis were 11.9% and 4.0, and for Trochopus trituba they were 81.5% and 55.0, and for Trochopus australis, they were 6.7% and 2.3, respectively. These worms are mainly found firmly attached to the primary lamellae of the gills of the rockfishes.
