A single specimen (220.4 mm SL) of the bandfish Acanthocepola indica was collected near Maemul Island, off southeastern Korea. This species is characterized by having a serrated posterior margin of preopercle and a black blotch on anterior part of dorsal fin. It differs from two other species, A. limbata and A. krusensternii, in having a deeper body, 88 dorsal fin rays, and 101 anal fin rays. Our specimen of A. indica is the first record of the species from Korea, for which we propose the new Korean name "Nam-bang-hong-gal-chi."

The purpose of the study is to examine how the apartment housing became common and how it became the main structure type of housing in Korea, as well as the social backgrounds. The study also focuses on how such phenomenon caused the housing problems which become social problems, and how new trials in terms of housing supply were performed to provide solutions to meet various housing needs of households. The purpose was accomplished by the examination of related literature since the liberation from Japan in 1945 to the early 1990s. In fact, it was uncommon to have apartment housing as the main figure of housing style. However, it became the major housing culture in Korea. Even if there have been lots of blames for apartment housing for last forty years, they were able to settle in Korea. Major reasons for such phenomenon include desperate needs for a larger quantity of housing due to industrialization, urbanization, etc.

The construction of government-sponsored housing in Korea began in the early 1950s. Beyond fulfilling the housing shortage after the Korean War, it also impacted the development of housing in Korea. The aim of this study is to explore the construction and supply of government-sponsored housing and to discuss the positive and negative influences on the modern housing in Korea. In order to achieve the objectives, the pictures and floor plans, newspaper articles and the KNHC publications, which led the public housing supply from 1950 to 1960, were examined. Results indicate as follows: First, government-sponsored housing industrialized the housing production, which satisfied the volume need. The simplified floor plan and exterior, along with the western characteristics, created a new urban landscape. Second, the distinct characteristics of Korean housing were established. By emphasizing development and financial practicality, large scale housing complexes were built with simplified, characterless, and mechanical exteriors in a disconnected territory with neighbor district. Third, government-sponsored housing became the major accelerator to westernize the Korean housing culture. In conclusion, the principles of functionalism of government-sponsored housing have become the fundamental root of Korean housing since the war.

동해 울릉분지에서는 시추선 RemEtive를 사용하여 UBGH-X-01 가스하이드레이트 탐사가 2007년에 실시되었다. 본 연구에서는 천부 가스하이드레이트가 확인된 UBGH1-10 정점에서 무인잠수정(Quantam WROV)을 사용하여 획득된 푸쉬코어와 해저지형 분석을 수행되었다.UBGH1-10 정점은 seismic chimneys의 탄성파 특성이 발달된 지역이다. 이곳에서는 해저표면으로부터 수 m 하부에서 가스하이드레이트가 발견되었다. 이 정점은 수 m 높이의 얕은 둔덕들이 무인잠수정에 부착된 비디오 카메라에 의해서 관찰되었다.이곳에서 채취된 길이 약40 cm의 푸쉬코어는 생물교란된 뻘질 퇴적물로 구성되어 있으며, 가스하이드레이트와 chemosynthetic community는 관찰되지 않았다. 푸쉬코어는 X-ray fluorescence scanner를 사용하여 퇴적물의 26가지 원소 조성을 분석하였다. UBGH1-10 정점의 산화환원환경은 Mo/Al과 Mn/Ti 원소비를 이용하여 천부 가스하이드레이트가 발견되지 않은 UBGH1-9와 UBGH1-1 정점과 대비하였다. 이 정점의 일차생산력은 Ba/Al 원소비를 이용하여 다른 정점과 대비하였다. 천부 가스하이드레이트가 발견된 UBGH1-10 정점은 활발한 가스방출과 관련된 생물집단 서식 또는 자생광물 형성의 흔적이 발견되지 않으며, 퇴적물에서도 산화환원환경과 일차생산력의 큰 차이가 관찰되지 않는다.

Currently, cancer is the primary cause of death and 50% of cancer patients are incurable by surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Therefore, immunotherpy is interested as the fourth remedy. Biological response modifier (BRM), such as organometallic compounds, glycoproteins, polysaccharides and other natural products. Is the one which can enhance the immune response against cancer cell. To develop new BRM from natural sources, we investigated 63 species Korean traditional medicines by observing the mitogenic activity to splenocytes, generation of activated killer cells and activation of macrophages. Finally, we selected 9 species including Angelicae gigantis Radix, Mori Cortex Radicis, Arisaematis Tuber, Salviae Radix, Cnidii Rhizoma, Ligusti Fructus, Pasoraliae Semen, Loranthi Ramulus, Ginseng Radix. Bioassay-guided fractionation and purification is undergoing.

Purpose: This study aimed to explore and describe the school life experience of male nursing students reinstated at school after military service. Methods: The participants in the current study were 20 male nursing students from three universities. The data were collected in focus group interviews, and an inductive content analysis was performed on the data obtained from six focus groups. Results: The content relating to the school experience of the participants was categorized into four themes: making a new start, facing challenges, trying to find one's place, and confusion about one's professional identity. Conclusion: Nursing education in Korea needs to be reconsidered, as it adheres to a gender-stereotyped identity. This study provides implications for improving the content and quality of nursing education.

This paper presents Hybrid PI controller of IPMSM drive using fuzzy adaptive mechanism(FAM) control. To increase the robustness, fixed gam PI controller, Hybrid PI controller proposes a new method based self tuning PI controller. Hybrid PI controller is developed to minimize overshoot and settling time following sudden parameter changes such as speed, load torque, inertia, rotor resistance and self inductance. The results on a speed controller of IPMSM are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed gain tuner. And this controller is better than the fixed gains one in terms of robustness, even under great variations of operating conditions and load disturbance.

There are some problems with the methods of paging and routing cache(PRC) and quasi soft handoff that are proposed to improve the performance for the transmission of real time data. This paper proposed a reasonable solution of these problems by proposing a new method using a combined cache(CC) and applying a different handoff procedure according to each type of data. The combined cache dose not maintain the handoff state but the idlle/active state. The simulation results in a better performance than the above methods in terms of the control packet traffic load, initial recevied data packet traffic load and arrival tune of real time packet at the epoch of handoff.

This paper is proposed a fuzzy control and neural network based on the vector controlled induction motor drive system. The hybrid combination of fuzzy control and neural network will produce a powerful representation flexibility and numerical processing capability Also, this paper is proposed estimation and control of speed of Induction motor using fuzzy and neural network. The back propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. This paper is proposed the experimental results to verify the effectiveness of the new method.

Here, we report a previously unrecorded species, Sin-an-sae-u-nan-cho (Calanthe aristulifera Rchb. f.). It was discovered on Heuksan Island in Jeollanam-do. Its natural habitat was a subtropical forest. The species can easily be characterized by the simple trichomes on the back of its leaves and spur. This species is important because new horticultural races of Calanthe can be developed by cross-breeding with other species of Calanthe.
