  • The genus Hypomyces contains fungi that grow on mushrooms, including agarics, boletes, and Aphyllophorales. While 53 Hypomyces species have been reported worldwide, only one was in Korea. In this study, two new Korean species were identified as H. luteovirens and H. tubariicola based on morphology and internal transcribed spacer sequencing.

  • Heterotrophic flagellates occurring in the marine sediments of Inchon and Ganghwa Island are reported. Fifty-six species from 38 genera were encountered in this survey and two new taxa were recorded: Cyranomonas australis sp. nov. and Gweamonas unicus sp. nov. There was little evidence for endemism because all flagellates including the two new taxa described here have been found from other habitats in Australia which are geographically remote from Korea. This study supports the model that free-living heterotrophic flagellates have a world-wide distribution.

  • Two diastylid species, Dimorphostylis manazuruensis Gamo(1960) and Dimorphostylis longicauda Gamo(1962), are recorded as new to Korea cumacean fauna. The subadult male of D. longicauda is described for the first time. As a result, the genus Dimorphostylis found in Korean waters now consists of eight species.

  • A new species of Theridiidae, Carniella coreana sp. nov., is described and illustrated from Korea. The male of this newly described species is most similar to Carniella tsurui Ono, 2007 in the general shape of its palp, but can be distinguished by the winding structure of the embolus and broad tipped and twisted embolic apophysis. The genus Carniella Thaler & Steinberger, 1988 is newly recorded to Korean spider fauna.

  • A new species of marine Halacaridae, Copidognathus laevisetosus is recorded from Yeongdeok coast, Korea. In morphological aspects, the present new spe챠es is closely related to C. koreanus Chatterjee and Chang. Morphological similarities and dissimilarities between them are discussed. Copidognathus cerberoideus Bartsch is reported here for the first time from Korea and away from its type locality.

  • As a result of continuous taxonomic study on crabs, Clistocoeloma villosum (A. Milne-Edwards, 1869) is newly reported from Korean waters. C. villosum has no epibranchial tooth on the carapace, while C. merguiense De Man, 1888, only recorded species of this genus in Korean fauna, has two epibranchial teeth. The description and illustrations of C. villosum are provided herein. Korean Sesarmid crabs now consist of 10 species belonging to six genera.

  • A new asteroid specimen was collected at a depth of 400 m in the East Sea. It was identified as Lophaster furcilliger Fisher, 1905 belonging to the family Solasteridae of the order Velatida. This species is new to the Korean fauna. Thirty asteroid species including L. furcilliger have been reported in the East Sea of Korea so far.

  • A new pattern classification algorithm using cepstrum to analyze lung sounds for the classification of pattern with pulmonary and bronchial disorders is proposed. To evaluate the perfomance of the proposed method, the results are compared to the pattern classification with the AR modeling method. In the experiment lung sounds recorded for the training of physician used. As a results, the accuracy of the cepstrum classification is 92.3 % and AR modeling is the 53.8 %, therefore cepstrum modeling method has very high performance than AR and it turned out to be a very efficient algorithm.

  • Two species, Plectiscus impurator Gravenhorst and Stenomacrus laticollis(Holmgren), of the subfamily Orthocentrinae are newly recognized from South Korea. This subfamily Orthocentrinae was represented in South Korea as 17 species belonging to four genera until now. In this paper, two additional species belonging to two genera are recorded for the first time from South Korea. Diagnoses of genera and two unrecorded species, illustrations of diagnostic characters are provided.
