  • Saudi Arabia is transitioning from its traditional oil-dependent economy to become a leader in the hydrogen industry. This paper explores the kingdom's strategic investments in hydrogen production and infrastructure as key components of its energy diversification and sustainability efforts. The focus is on enhancing green hydrogen production to meet domestic needs and strengthen its position in the global market. The urgency of diversifying energy sources is emphasized, with projects like the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project illustrating Saudi Arabia's commitment to renewable energy integration. These initiatives are positioned to centralize Saudi Arabia in the global shift toward sustainable energy, signaling a significant pivot in its economic and environmental policies.

  • 신재생에너지산업의 발전은 에너지원의 문제를 해결하기 위한 필수적인 과제라 할 수 있다. 이에 따라 세계 각국에서 신재생에너지산업을 위해 적극적으로 움직이고 있다. 신재생에너지산업은 아직 산업기반이 약하고, 산업의 특성상 규모의 경제 및 기술개발을 위한 초기 투자가 필요한 경우가 많다. 따라서, 신재생에너지산업을 육성하기 위한 정책이 실행되고 있는데 우리나라 뿐만 아니라 많은 나라에서 대표적으로 실행하는 정책이 RPS와 FIT 정책이다. 신재생에너지산업은 다양한 이해관계와 경제, 사회, 환경, 국제 등의 변수를 동시에 가지고 있으므로 이를 종합적으로 고려한 정책이 필요하다. 신재생에너지산업의 경우 평가의 지표에 해당하는 부분이 많고 고려되어야 할 변수가 많으나, 이를 모두 고려하기 힘들고 고려한다 하더라도 일관된 기준이 마련되어 있지 않은 상황이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 신재생에너지정책을 평가하기 위한 평가지표를 개발, 제시한다.

  • Significant air temperature increases in urban areas are known as the heat island phenomenon in a global scale. Therefore, we use numerical model in order to analyze quantitative effects by using new & renewable energy on the heat island phenomenon in urban area. The present study quantitatively analyzes the Urban Heat Island Effects, Energy-Saving Effects, and Environmental Load Decrease Effect along New and Renewable Energy Application which is 10% of the Building Energy Consumption.

  • The major challenge in promoting large-scale offshore wind power projects is securing local acceptance. Several recent studies have emphasized the crucial role of local governments in addressing this problem. However, local governments have difficulty in achieving clear results because of the lack of expertise and manpower in offshore wind power projects, making thempassive in promoting these initiatives. In this context, we briefly introduce the case of Shinan-gun, which recently successfully conducted a pre-feasibility study on a large-scale offshore wind power complex led by the local government.

  • 에너지산업의 인력양성과 관련하여 공급 측면에서 국내대학들은 학과 관련 각종 규정에 따라 인력 수요에 맞춘 탄력적 운영이 현실적으로 불가능하며 독자적인 에너지 관련 학과도 소수로 기존 학과체계에서 인력 수요의 변동에 따른 학과 신설·폐쇄, 정원 증감, 융합형 인력양성에서 많은 어려움을 가지고 있다. 이러한 대학들의 인력양성의 한계적인 측면과 더불어 에너지 패러다임 변화 즉, 1) 안정적공급·에너지 안보 위주에서 신성장동력·수출산업으로 에너지산업의 변화, 2) 유가 급등 및 불안정, 기후변화협약 등 정책적인 여건 변화로 에너지원 다양화, 신기술 보급 등 에너지산업 활성화 3) 글로벌 금융위기 이후 에너지산업이 경기 부양의 핵심으로 부각 등 이러한 변화에 대해 국내대학들의 선제 대응이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 인력양성의 한계적인 측면과 더불어 에너지 패러다임 변화에 발맞춰 무형, 융복합형 인력 등 기업이 원하는 다양한 고급인력을 독자적으로 양성하기 위해 신재생에너지 전문기술 인력양성 교육프로그램을 제안하고자 한다.

한국의 태양광 정책 및 국가 R&D 과제 현황 (Status of Korean Photovoltaic Policy and National R&D Projects)

  • The photovoltaic (PV) industry, which occupies about 80% share of domestic new and renewable energy (NRE) sales, has played an important role in the development of the Korean NRE industry. This was made possible by the government's implementation of the 3rd Basic New and Renewable Energy Plan, which promoted strategic PV R&D, infrastructure building, and a variety of PV deployment programs. For instance, 'One Million Green Homes', 'Feed in Tariff', and 'Renewable Portfolio Standards' programs contributed greatly to the dissemination of PV systems in the country. Furthermore, these programs were supported with more than 380 billion Won over 6 year period (2007~2012). The strategic PV R&D contributed to the fast follow-up in commercial technologies. Because of the recent, sharp decline in PV prices caused by oversupply and economic crisis in European countries, both foreign and domestic PV companies are going through painful restructuring. Under these circumstances, the Korean PV industry needs to find a new strategy for making a breakthrough, and in this sense a proactive role of the Korean government is desperately needed.

Making Utility-Integrated Energy Storage a Used, Useful and Universal Resource

  • Objective signs are everywhere that the stationary energy storage market is growing up quickly. The use of distributed resources such as solar photovoltaics and electric vehicles are expanding at a rapid pace, creating technical challenges for the distribution system that will require energy storage and a new generation of software to address. This paper is intended for distribution utility managers and executives and makes the following points: ${\bullet}$ Utility-integrated (as opposed to merely grid-connected) energy storage projects represent a distinct, new wave of industry growth that is just getting underway and is required to manage distributed energy resources moving forward. ${\bullet}$ Utilities and the energy storage industry have important roles to lower risk in adopting this technology - thereby enabling this wave of growth. ${\circ}$ The industry must focus on engineering energy storage for adoption at scale - including the creation and support of software open standards -both to drive down costs and to limit technology and supplier risk for utilities. ${\circ}$ Utilities need to take a program-based, rather than a project- based, approach to this resource to best balance cost and risk as they procure and implement energy storage. By working together to drive down costs and manage risk, utilities and their suppliers can lay the energy storage foundation for a new, more digital distributed electricity system.

  • The paper discussed for energy saving technology of electric arc furnace (EAF) in steel making industry. The energy of EAF in steel making process is nearly 10% of total manufacturing cost. This paper is shown new trand of energy saving technology and future study analysis of technological evolution of the EAF by 2010 issued IISI.

한국의 산업별 전력소비와 경제성장간 인과관계 분석 (An Analysis on the Causal Relation Between Electricity Consumption and GDP by industries in KOREA)

  • In these days global energy policy is changed from "supply" to "demand". In this regards, there are needs to analysis on effect of policy such as energy efficiency strategy, electricity rates. This study examines the relationship between energy consumption reduced by new energy policy and GDP growth for each industrial sector for Korea from 1970 to 2013. With respect to the direction of causality, energy use of 1th industry like agriculture and mining leads to GDP growth. On the other hand, GDP growth of 2nd industry, manufacturing, leads to energy use. And there is bidirectional causality in 3rd industry, service sector. These findings imply that the government policies aimed at reducing electricity consumptions and increasing energy efficiency should be progressed cautiously depend on status of each industry condition.

Harmonic Distortion Contribution for the Transmission Loss Allocation in Deregulated Energy Market: A New Scheme for Industry Consumer

  • The industry has rapidly growth and energy supply technology advanced are become main factor which to contribute of the harmonic losses. This problem is one aspect that may affect the capability of the transmission line and also to the efficiency of electricity. This paper proposes a new scheme to allocate the cost pertaining to transmission loss due to harmonics. The proposed method, called as Generalized Harmonic Distribution Factor, uses the principle of proportional sharing method to allocate the losses among the transmission users especially for industry consumers. The IEEE 14- and 30 bus test system is used to compare the proposed method with existing method. The results showed that the proposed method provided a scheme better in allocating the cost of transmission loss, which could encourage the users to minimize the losses.
