  • New product preannouncement through global supply chain management and international strategic alliances is a critical issue for firm's survive and gaining the competitive advantage in the global smart-phone market. To identify the impact of exploration alliance and exploitation alliance on the short-term's Firm Performance, respectively, This study implemented the event study and the cross sectional regression analysis, focusing on the case of Galaxy Note series. Research results identified that new technologies by exploration alliance and the existing technologies through exploitation alliance have a positive effect on the short-term's performance of vendors related. Furthermore, information for the new products showed higher the excess earning rate than information related to the existing technologies. This implies the firms that provides new technologies have a stronger innovative ability than the companies serving the existing technologies, recognizing as a positive signal in the market. Finally, this study implicates that new technologies by exploration alliance enhances innovative abilities from new product preannouncement, and is a critical variable that can determines whether to survive in the market.

  • Demand for rich media services is rapidly increasing and, as a result, several technologies are competing to deliver rich media services to mobile, resource-constrained devices. In this paper, we explore the existing rich media technologies and analyze their key features. In addition, in order to accommodate the new requirements introduced by emerging service models, such as service convergence, these technologies must evolve from their current status. We examine how the community intends to achieve this.

  • Objectives : The new health technology assessment (nHTA) involves evaluating the safety and efficacy of the new health technology under the Medical Services Act by the New Health Technology Assessment Project Division from 2007. The purpose of this study is to understand the status of applications and recent trends of the results, and suggest strategies for the development of new health technologies in Korean Medicine. Methods : We investigated and analyzed the results of evaluation of new health technology of whole conventional medical and the list of new health technologies in Korean Medicine provided by the New Health Technology Assessment Project Division from 2007 to 2016. Results : The number of applications for new health technology of Korean medicine was low as 41 items in the whole number of 2,013 items. The evaluation method of new health technologies in both, the whole medical and Korean medicine fields was the same, but the tendency in results was very different. Most of the new health technology items in Korean medicine were classified as existing technology (20 items), early stage technology (7 items), and Only 2 items were evaluated as research stage technology. Conclusions : In order to develop new health technology in the Korean medical field, we have made suggestions about the health technology assessment systems, R&D infrastructures, and corporation with conventional medicines.

  • Broiler chickens grow rapidly, and their nutrient requirements change daily. However, broilers are fed three to five diet phases, meaning nutrients are under or oversupplied throughout production. Increasing diet phases improves production efficiency as there is less time in the production cycle that nutrients are in under or over-supply. Nevertheless, the process of administering four or more diets is costly and often impractical. New technologies are now available to blend feed to match the daily nutrient requirements of broilers. Thus, the aim of this review is to evaluate previous studies measuring the impact of increasing feed phases on nutrient utilisation and growth performance, and review recent studies taking this concept to the extreme; precision nutrition - feeding a new diet for each day of the production cycle. This review will also discuss how modern precision feeding technologies have been utilised and the potential that new technologies may bring to the poultry industry. The development of a precision nutrition regime which targets daily requirements by blending dietary components on farm is anticipated to improve the efficiency of production, reduce production cost and therefore improve sustainability of the industry. There is also potential for precision feeding technology along with precision nutrition strategies to deliver a plethora of other management and economic benefits. These include increased fluidity to cope with sudden environmental or market changes, and the ability to alter diets on a farm by farm level in a large, integrated operation. Thus, the future possibilities and practical implications for such technologies to generate a paradigm shift in feed formulation within the poultry industry to meet the rising demand for animal protein is also discussed.

  • The Center for Advanced Meta-Materials (CAMM) was launched in 2014 as a center for Global Frontier Projects supported by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning. The center is geared towards developing core technologies in controlling wave energies by incorporating creative artificial structures of sub-wavelength sizes. Furthermore, the center not only investigates novel meta-materials and devices but also builds new design, fabrication and application platforms in order to realize these technologies. The center will create new markets in various industries such as national defense, housing and medical care. In order to accomplish its goals, CAMM is composed of three major divisions: the fabrication/characterization technologies and application division, the advanced metamaterials for electromagnetic wave division and the advanced metamaterials for mechanical wave division. The center will concentrate its efforts in bringing innovations to conventional technologies in sectors such as machinery, ICT, energy and biomedical technology by adopting the use of advanced metamaterial systems. In this talk, we will introduce principles of advanced wave control and describe some advanced metamaterials which can provide new solutions for various social problems in future.

  • There is a growing need for technology transactions between the technology providers, who develop technologies, and the technology consumers, who purchase and commercialize technologies, to be smooth, when technologies, as intangible assets, are traded as items that can be purchased and sold. In response to these challenges, this study examines new approaches to assessing the fair market value of technologies. Because corporations are the main force behind technology development and commercialization in the existing business environment, applying one valuation method to technology assets is viable; however, as the subjects of technology development and technology commercialization are separate, the need for price negotiations between the subjects of technology transaction has grown. Moreover, as the investigations into and the application of transaction prices have been performed separately by technology providers, technology consumers, and technology assessment financial institutions, the research on technology valuation methods has shown that there are differences in perceived transaction prices between the subjects involved. This research presents a new method, appropriate to technology transactions; unlike existing methods, it grants option values to the technology provider and newly defined key variables to the technology consumer.

  • The Wafer Level Packaging is one of the most important technologies in the semiconductor industry today. Its primary advantages are its small form factor and low cost potential for manufacturing including test procedure. The CASIO's WLP samples, application example and the structure are shown in Fig.1, 2&3. There are dielectric layer , under bump metal, re-distribution layer, copper post , encapsulation material and terminal solder .The key technologies are 'Electroplating thick copper process' and 'Unique wafer encapsulation process'. These are very effective in getting electrical and mechanical advantages of package. (Fig. 4). CASIO and CMK are developing a new System Packaging technology called the Embedded Wafer Level Package (EWLP) together. The active components (semiconductor chip) in the WLP structure are embedded into the Printed Wiring Board during their manufacturing process. This new technical approach has many advantages that can respond to requirements for future mobile products. The unique feature of this EWLP technology is that it doesn't contain any solder interconnection inside. In addition to improved electrical performance, EWLP can enable the improvement of module reliability. (Fig.5) The CASIO's WLP Technology will become the effective solution of 'KGD problem in System Packaging'. (Fig. 6) The EWLP sample shown in Fig.7 including three chips in the WLP form has almost same structure wi_th SoC's. Also, this module technology are suitable for RF and Analog system applications.
