  • This article empirically examines the relationship between values, consumer innovativeness, online opinion leadership, and new product adoption behavior utilizing wearable technology as the overall unit of analysis. The authors analyze data collected from SNS users who possess one or more wearable devices using a structural equation modeling approach to examine the direct effects. Moreover, a bootstrapping approach is adopted to explore the indirect effects between the constructs. The results indicate that consumers who value stimulation and hedonism are more inclined to possess stronger consumer innovativeness. Consumer innovativeness also positively influences online opinion leadership, ultimately leading to the faster adoption of new products. The mediating effect of consumer innovativeness between the value stimulation and online opinion leadership is also confirmed. In addition, although consumer innovativeness has no direct effect on new product adoption behavior, it does have an indirect, mediating effect through online opinion leadership.

  • In new deregulated electricity market, short-term price forecasting is key information for all market players. A better forecast of market-clearing price (MCP) helps market participants to strategically set up their bidding strategies for energy markets in the short-term. This paper presents a new prediction strategy to improve the need for more accurate short-term price forecasting tool at spot market using an artificial neural networks (ANNs). To build the forecasting ANN model, a three-layered feedforward neural network trained by the improved Levenberg-marquardt (LM) algorithm is used to forecast the locational marginal prices (LMPs). To accurately predict LMPs, actual power generation and load are considered as the input sets, and then the difference is used to predict price differences in the spot market. The proposed ANN model generalizes the relationship between the LMP in each area and the unconstrained MCP during the same period of time. The LMP calculation is iterated so that the capacity between the areas is maximized and the mechanism itself helps to relieve grid congestion. The addition of flow between the areas gives the LMPs a new equilibrium point, which is balanced when taking the transfer capacity into account, LMP forecasting is then possible. The proposed forecasting strategy is tested on the spot market of the Nord Pool. The validity, the efficiency, and effectiveness of the proposed approach are shown by comparing with time-series models

  • This paper presents a new methodology to draw the components of locational marginal price (LMP) in electricity market. Recently, the changing environments surrounding electricity industries resulted in the unbundled services provided by electricity market players, which may require the new pricing mechanisms based on the LMP. The changed pricing mechanisms will provide the price signals of time and location to the market participants. Most of the existing studies of LMP are based on the Lagrangian multipliers as shadow prices to evaluate the equivalent values of constraints or factors for security, reliability and quality. However, the shadow prices cannot provide enough information for components of LMP. In this paper, therefore, we proposed a new approach that LMP is divided into three components. To do this, we first present the method for shadow prices calculation and then break down LMP into a variety of parts corresponding to the concerned factors. The proposed approach is applied to 5-bus and modified IEEE 14-bus sample system in order to verify its validity.

  • Capsize and sinking of a coastal car ferry has occurred in a Korean offshore area and has caused hundreds of human casualties. The rapid turn and improper cargo loading are inferred as the main reasons of the accident. It has motivated to develop a new system of cargo securing with improved safety of Korean coastal ferries. This paper provides a new approach regarding cargo securing safety assessment which is purely based on force equilibrium conditions, because IMO CSS is suitable for the ocean-going vessels. The mathematical formulations are presented for the new approach. This paper also introduces a newly developed safety assessment system based on the new approach. Most outstanding features are that it can utilize acceleration data produced from hydrodynamic motion analyses or assumed maximum extents of ship motion components and that securing safety assessment is simultaneously possible for unlimited number of cargoes with finite number of lashings.

  • This paper presents a new one-time password approach generated based on $4{\times}4$ pattern schedule. It demonstrates generation of passkey from initial seed of random codes and mapping out in table pattern schedule which will produce a new form of OTP scheme in protecting information or data. The OTP-2FA has been recognized by many organizations as a landmark to authentication techniques. OTP is the solution to the shortcomings of the traditional user name/password authentication. With the application of OTP, some have benefited already while others have had second thoughts because of some considerations like cryptographic issue. This paper presents a new method of algorithmic approach based on table schedule (grid authentication). The generation of OTP will be based on the random parameters that will be mapped out in rows and columns allowing the user to form the XY values to get the appropriate values. The algorithm will capture the values and extract the predefined characters that produce the OTP codes. This scheme can work in any information verification system to enhance the security, trust and confidence of the user.

  • This research aims to determine an optimal (best) solution for transporting the logistics at a minimum cost from various sources to various destinations. We proposed a new algorithm for the initial basic feasible solution (IBFS). Developing a new IBFS is the first step towards finding the optimal solution. A new approach for the initial basic feasible solution that reduces iterations and produces the best answer in the initial process of the transportation issue. Different IBFS approaches have been generated in the literature review. Some statistical fundamentals, such as normal distribution and the root mean square technique, are employed to find new IBFS. A TP is transformed into a normal distribution, and penalties are determined using the root mean square method. Excel Solver is used to calculate normal distribution values. The second step involves using a stepping-stone approach to compute the optimum solution. The results of our study were calculated using numerical examples and contrasted with a few other methodologies, such as Vogel's approximation, the Continuous Allocation Method (CAM), the Supply Demand Repair Method (SDRM), and the Karagul-Sahin Approximation Method (KSAM). The conclusion of our proposed method gives more accurate results than the existing approach.

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach to detecting outliers in a set of segmented genomes of the flu virus, a data set with a heterogeneous set of sequences. The approach has the following computational phases: feature extraction, which is a mapping into feature space, alignment-free distance measure to measure the distance between any two segmented genomes, and a mapping into distance space to analyze a quantum of distance values. The approach is implemented using supervised and unsupervised learning modes. The experiments show robustness in detecting outliers of the segmented genome of the flu virus.

  • This paper presents a new analytic approach using tetrahedrons to determine the forward kinematics of the 3-6-type Stewart platform. By using of the tetrahedral geometry, this approach has the advantage of greatly reducing the complexity of formulation and the computational burden required by the conventional methods which have been solved the forward kinematics with three unknown angles. As a result, this approach allows a significant abbreviation in the formulations and provides an easier means of obtaining the solutions. The proposed method is well verified through a series of numerical simulation.

  • A mathematical model and its solution algorithm are proposed for computing the capacity of terminal control area. The model is built based on dynamics of aircraft flying on pre-established approach path and its solution algorithm employs a numerical method. The model computes the minimum separation of two aircraft at the entry fix of the terminal control area, which assures that air traffic separation rules are not violated during the approach phase, thereby computes the capacity. The model might be applied for designing approach paths for a new airport, for rearranging paths of an existing airport or establishing approach control procedures.

  • The roles-grafting research is an approach to educational studies intended to graft five roles of supervisors, graduate students, teachers, principals and administrators. The approach is divided into four chained and cyclical aspects: drafting research blueprint, revising research blueprint, executing research blueprint and assessing performances. The approach maintains five basic principles: principles of inheritance, innovation, practicality, scientific basis and grafting. It is a paradigm of innovative research that has been developed in China that is worth a thorough investigation and extensive analysis.
