수삼(水蔘), 홍삼(紅蔘) 및 백삼(白蔘)의 지방질성분(脂肪質成分)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Studies on the Lipid Components of Fresh Ginseng, Red Ginseng and White Ginseng)

  • Lipid and fatty acid compositions of free lipids and bound lipids from fresh ginseng, red ginseng and white ginseng were studied by means of silicic acid column chromatography, thin-layer chromatography and gas-liquid chromatography. Free lipid and bound lipid contents in those three samples were 1.21 to 1.45% and 0.32 to 0.45%. Neutral lipid fractions in free lipids from the samples were 76.6 to 79.7%, while glycolipid and phospholipid fractions were 11.6 to 14.7% and 8.5 to 8.7%, respectively. The major lipids were triglycerides, sterol esters and hydrocarbons, diglycerides and free sterols in neutral lipids, sterol glucoside, monogalactosyl diglyceride, esterified steryl glycoside, digalactosyl diglyceride in glycolipids and phosphatidyl ethanolamine, phosphatidyl glycerol, phosphatidyl choline and phosphatidyl inositol in phospholipids. Fourteen kinds of even numbered and four kinds of odd numbered fatty acids were identified in the four lipid fractions (TL, NL, GL and PL) by GLC, and the main fatty acids were linoleic acid, palmitic acid, oleic acid and linolenic acid.

  • 수용액으로부터 3개 양이온 염료(메틸렌 블루 MB, 중성래드 NR, 녹공작석 옥살산염MG)를 제거하는 Maghnia 점토의 흡착제로서의 가능성을 알아보기 위해 접촉시간, pH, 초기 염료 농도, 흡착제 사용량등을 변화시키면서 조사하였다. 적절한 pH는 NR의 경우 6이었고, MB와 MG의 경우 7로 나타났다. 90% 이상의 최대 염료 흡착은 약 60분내에 이루어졌으며, 염료 흡착은 유사 2차반응속도식을 따랐다.

  • Consumption of Paralichthys olivaceus in raw fish have been reported as the cause of outbreaks of food-born illness, and Kudoa septempunctata in muscle of Paralichtys olivaceus was suggested with the causative agent. For this reason, distinguish of vital and dead spore is important to study survivability of Kudoa septempunctata in human intestinal condition and in vitro inactivation of Kudoa septempunctata. In this reports, we suggest NR & MB (Neutral red and Methylene blue) staining method that is easier and simpler than the previously described HO & PI (Hoechst33342 and Propidium iodide) method according to a experimental condition.

THE KRAMERS-HEISENBERG FORMULA AND THE GUNN-PETERSON TROUGH

  • Recent cosmological observations indicate that the reionized universe may have started at around z = 6, where a significant suppression around $Ly{\alpha}$ has been observed from the neutral intergalactic medium. The associated neutral hydrogen column density is expected to exceed $10^{21}cm^{-2}$, where it is very important to use the accurate scattering cross section known as the Kramers-Heisenberg formula that is obtained from the fully quantum mechanical time-dependent second order perturbation theory. We present the Kramers-Heisenberg formula and compare it with the formula introduced in a heuristic way by Peebles (1993) considering the hydrogen atom as a two-level atom, from which we find a deviation by a factor of two in the red wing region far from the line center. Adopting a representative set of cosmological parameters, we compute the Gunn-Peterson optical depths and absorption profiles. Our results are quantitatively compared with previous work by Madau & Rees (2000), who adopted the Peebles approximation in their radiative transfer problems. We find deviations up to 5 per cent in the Gunn-Peterson transmission coefficient for an accelerated expanding universe in the red off-resonance wing part with the rest wavelength ${\Delta}{\lambda}{\sim}10{\AA}$.

Electrochemical Reduction of Xylose to Xylitol by Whole Cells or Crude Enzyme of Candida peltata

  • In this study, whole cells and a crude enzyme of Candida peltata were applied to an electrochemical bioreactor, in order to induce an increment of the reduction of xylose to xylitol. Neutral red was utilized as an electron mediator in the whole cell reactor, and a graphite-Mn(IV) electrode was used as a catalyst in the enzyme reactor in order to induce the electrochemical reduction of $NAD^+$ to NADH. The efficiency with which xylose was converted to xylitol in the electrochemical bioreactor was five times higher than that in the conventional bioreactor, when whole cells were employed as a biocatalyst. Meanwhile, the xylose to xylitol reduction efficiency in the enzyme reactor using the graphite-Mn (IV) electrode and $NAD^+$ was twice as high as that observed in the conventional bioreactor which utilized NADH as a reducing power. In order to use the graphite-Mn(IV) electrode as a catalyst for the reduction of $NAD^+$ to NADH, a bioelectrocatalyst was engineered, namely, oxidoreductase (e.g. xylose reductase). $NAD^+$ can function in this biotransformation procedure without any electron mediator or a second oxidoreductase for $NAD^+/NADH$ recycling

수용액으로부터 양이온 염료 흡수에 대한 pH 및 온도 효과 (Effects of pH and Temperature on the Adsorption of Cationic Dyes from Aqueous Suspension by Maghnia Montmorillonite)

  • Maghnia montmorillonite clay를 이용하여, 두 가지 염료(neutral red; NR과 malachite green oxalates; MG)에 대한 pH 및 온도 효과를 측정하였다. 수용액 속에서 MG는 pH 3-9에서 흡수가 나타나는 반면에, 양이온 NR은 pH 3-5에서 red shift 흡수피크가 나타났으며, 중성 NR은 pH 8-12에서 흡수피크가 얻어졌다. NR에 대해서는 465.13 mg/g, MG에 대해서는 459.89 mg/g의 최대 흡수 피크가 각각 298와 318 K에서 얻어졌으며, 자유에너지 Ea 값은 각각 4.472-5.559 kJ/mol과 2.000-2.886 kJ/mol로 얻어졌다. 도한, as ${\Delta}H^{\circ}$, ${\Delta}S^{\circ}$, ${\Delta}G^{\circ}$ and Ea과 같은 다양한 열역학적인 변수들을 계산했으며, 전체적인 반응의 흡수과정은 자발적이고, 흡열반응으로 진행됨을 알 수 있었다.

Methane Emissions from Dry Cows Fed Grass or Legume Silage

  • Using an open-circuit system, we compared the methane ($CH_4$) emission from dry cows fed first-cut Timothy silage ($1^{st}$ TY), second-cut Timothy silage ($2^{nd}$ TY), second-cut Italian ryegrass silage ($2^{nd}$ IR), third-cut Italian ryegrass silage ($3^{rd}$ IR), or second-cut red clover silage ($2^{nd}$ RC) as the sole feed. The methane emission ranged from 258.2 L $day^{-1}$ to 396.5 L $day^{-1}$. The methane emission from dry cows fed red clover silage was relatively lower than that from dry cows fed grass silage. However, the methane emission per unit digestible neutral detergent fiber (NDF) intake (dNDFI) did not differ significantly between the experimental silages. The methane emission was significantly correlated with the NDF intake and digestibility. Methane emission had a significant correlation with the quadratic function of dNDFI. The differences in the daily volume of methane emission from cows fed different forages can be explained by dNDFI.

pH에 따른 홍화(紅花)의 색소(色素) 추출(抽出)과 염색(染色)의 효율성(效率性)`` (Efficiency of Dyes Extraction and Dyeing of Safflower according to pH Condition)

  • Effect of the pH condition was examined on extraction and dyeing of the yellow and red dyes of safflower. Absorption of dye solution extracted from safflower was changed by pH of solvent. In the case of yellow dyes, cotton and ramie weren't dyed regardless of pH of dye bath, but silks were significantly dyed at pH4. Raw silk showed better dyeability than refined silk. In the case of red dyes, cotton and ramie absorbed red dyes selectively, but silks absorbed yellow dyes more significantly than red dyes. Efficiency of extraction and dyeing of yellow dyes in acidic range were find out higher than that in neutral range. Red dyes was effectively extracted at pH11 and dyed at pH6.

Removal of Phenol from Aqueous Solutions by Activated Red Mud: Equilibrium and Kinetics Studies

  • In this work, removal of phenol from aqueous solutions by activated red mud was investigated. Scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy was used to observe the morphology and surface components of activated red mud, respectively. The effects of various parameters on the removal efficiency were studied, such as contact time, pH, initial phenol concentration, and adsorbent dosage. The removal percentage of phenol was initially increased, as the solution pH increased from 3 to 7, and then decreased above neutral pH. The removal percentage of phenol was decreased by increasing the initial phenol concentrations. Adsorption results show that equilibrium data follow the Freundlich isotherm, and kinetic data was well described by a pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Experimental results show that the activated red mud can be used to treat aqueous solutions containing phenol, as a low cost adsorbent with high efficiency.

학습 환경의 실내 온도와 학습재료의 색채에 따른 학습수행의 특성 (The Characteristics of the Learning Performance according to the Indoor Temperature of the Learning Environment and the Color of the Learning Materials)

  • 본 연구는 학습 환경의 실내 온도와 학습재료 색채와의 조합이 학습수행에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 학습활동 적정온도($22.5{\sim}24^{\circ}C$)를 중심으로(중립 실내 온도 조건), 그 이상인 조건(고온 실내온도 조건), 그리고 그 이하인 조건(저온 실내 온도 조건)으로 각각 실내 온도 조건을 구분하였으며, 난색계열인 빨간색과 한색계열인 파란색, 그리고 중성인 검은색과 연두색으로 각각 색채 조건을 구분하였다. 학습과 관련된 과제로는 음운 작업기억 과제를 사용하여 집단 간 실내 온도 조건에 따른 색채 조건에서의 과제 수행을 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 학습과제의 반응시간에서는 각 독립변수들에 의한 차이가 유의하지 않은 반면, 정확률에서는 색채 조건 중 빨간색과 검은색 조건에서 보다 정확한 수행이 나타났다. 이는 빨간색이 가진 현저성과 색채 온도감 및 검정색이 가진 친숙성과 다른 색에 비해 유일하게 현저성을 가지지 않는 특이성이 존재하기 때문에 나타난 결과로 해석할 수 있다.
