  • A microwave plasma generating system has been designed to study the properties of plasma. A microwave(2.45GHz) generated by the magnetron is transmitted to the cylindrical cavity through the the rectangular wave guide to generate hydrogen plasma. The electron temperature and the plasma density are measured by the Double Langmuir probe. A dilectric such as alumina is heated by the microwave add plasma. The surface temperature varies with the neutral gas pressure.

  • Previously we showed that $Ba^{2+}$ block of large conductance $Ca^{2+}$-activated $K^{+}$ (BK) channel was larger in the planar lipid bilayer formed with negatively-charged phosphatidylserine (PS) than neutral phosphatidylethanolamine (PE). In this work, have studied the blocking effect of two $K^{+}$ channel blockers with different mechanisms of action, $Ba^{2+}$ and tetraethylammonium (TEA), on BK channels of rat skeletal muscle. • Most of total nitrogen in the surface soil exists in organic forms, of which amino acid-N is the major fraction. By-product fertilizers provide soil with humic substances, and humic acid is an essential component of humus. Amino acids(AAs) are easily converted to inorganic-N forms and thus play an important role in N fertility. This experiment was conducted to investigate the contents and distributions of AAs in humic acids which were extracted from the commercial by-product fertilizers of different composting materials. Total contents of AAs in humic acids ranged from 1.2 to 5.6%, of which neutral AAs were the highest with ranges of 0.8~4.5%. AAs contents in fertilizers composted from the plant residues such as leaf litter, sawdust and bark were in an order of neutral>acidic>basic AAs. In contrast, those from animal wastes, such as poultry and pig manures, were in an order of neutral>basic>acidic AAs. Distributions of total, acidic and neutral AAs were in the respective order of leaf litter>sawdust>pig manure>poultry manure>peat, bark>sawdust>leaf litter>peat and leaf litter>sawdust>bark>peat. Distributions of the basic AAs were in the reversed order of the acidic AAs. In bark fertilizer with increasing compost maturity, contents of the acidic AAs were increased in compensation for the decreases in those of neutral and basic AAs. Results demonstrated that distributions of amino acids in humic acid of by-product fertilizers were different from composting raw materials and degrees of humification.

  • Fenton's reaction are difficult to apply in the field due to the low pH requirements for the reaction and the loss of reactivity caused by the precipitation of iron (II) at neutral pH. Moreover, Fenton-like reactions using iron mineral instead of injection of iron ion as a catalyst are operated to get high removal result at low pH. Because hydroxyl radical can generate at the surface of iron mineral, there are competition with a lot of hydroxide at around neutral pH. On the other side, to operate Fenton's reaction series at neutral pH, modified Fenton reaction is suggested. The complexes, composed by iron ions (ferrous ion or ferric ion)-chelating agent, could be acted as a catalyst and presented in the solution at neutral pH. However, modified Fenton reaction requires a lot of hydrogen peroxide. Accordingly, the purpose of this experiment was to effectively combine Fenton-like reaction and modified Fenton reaction for extending application of Fenton's reaction. i.e., injecting chelating agents in Fenton-like reaction at around neutral pH is increasing the concentration of dissolved iron ion and highly promoting the oxidation effect. 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) was used as a probe compound for comparing reaction efficiencies in this study. If the concentration of dissolved iron ion in combined Fenton process were existed more than 0.1 mM, the total TNT removal were increased. Magnetite-NTA system showed the best TNT removal (76%) and Magnetite-EDTA system indicated about 56% of TNT removal. The results of these experiments proved more promoted 40-60% of TNT removal than Fenton-like reaction's.

  • Since the start of the KSTAR (Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) project, Instrumentation and Control (I&C) of the Neutral Beam Test Facility (NB-TF) has been striving to answer diverse requests arising from various facets during the project's development and construction phases. Hard-wired electrical circuits have been designed, tested, fabricated, and finally installed to the relevant parts of the system. In relation to the vacuum system I&C, controlling functions for the rotary pumps, a Roots pump, two turbomolecular pumps, and four cryosorption pumps have been constructed. I&C for the ion source operation are the temperature and flow rate signal monitoring, Langmuir probe signal measurements, gradient grid current measurements, and arc detector circuit. For the huge power system to be monitored or safely operated, many temperature measurement functions have also been implemented for the beam line components like the neutralizer, bending magnet, ion dump, and calorimeter. Nearly all of the control and probe signals between the NB test stand and the control room were made to be transmitted through the optical cables. Failures of coolant flow or beam line vacuum pressure were made to be safely blocked from influencing the system by an appropriate interlock circuit that will shut down the extraction voltage application to the system or prevent damages to the vacuum components. Preliminary estimation of the beam power through the calorimetric measurement shows that 87.9% of the total power of the 60kV/18A beam with 200 seconds duration is absorbed by the calorimeter surface. Most of these I&C results would be highly appropriate for the construction of the main NBI facility for the KSTAR national fusion research project.

  • The etching characteristics of a $LiNbO_{3}$ optical waveguide structure have been investigated using neutral loop discharge plasma with the mixture of $C_{3}F_{8}$ and Ar and the bias power parameters. The etching rate and profile angle of optical waveguide with etching parameters were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy. Also, the etching RMS roughness was evaluated by atomic force microscopy. From the results of optimum etching conditions are the $C_{3}F_{8}$ gas flow ratio of 0.2 and the bias power of 300 W.

  • The aims of this study were to investigate the correlation between the electromyographic (EMG) activity of the abductor hallucis (AbdH) and the amount of pressure measured by a pinch gauge (PG), and to compare the EMG activity of AbdH and the pressure measured by the PG during short foot (SF) exercise in subjects with pes planus and in subjects with a neutral foot alignment. Fourteen subjects were recruited for this study (pes planus group=7; neutral foot alignment group=7). A surface EMG was used to collect AbdH activity, and a PG was positioned under the first metatarsophalangeal joint to measure the pressure produced by the first metatarsal head during the SF exercise. The AbdH activity and the pressure measured by the PG showed a positive good correlation (r=.80, p<.05). The EMG activity of the AbdH and the pressure measured by the PG were significantly lower for subjects with pes planus than for subjects with a neutral foot alignment (p<.05). Based on these findings, the PG can be recommended as an effective instrument for evaluating the performance of the AbdH. It may also be beneficial for monitoring how well the SF exercise is performed, and for providing visual feedback to patients with pes planus during SF exercise in a clinical setting.

  • The article brings the study of nonlocal, surface and the couple stress together to apparent the frequency retaliation of FG nanobeams (Functionally graded). For the examination of frequency retaliation, the article considers the accurate spot of neutral axis. This article aims to enhance the coherence of proposed model to accurately encapsulate the significant effects of the nonlocal stress field, size effects together with material length scale parameters. These considered parameters are assimilated through what are referred to as modified couple stress as well as nonlocal elasticity theories, which encompasses the stiffness-hardening and softening influence on the nanobeams frequency characteristics. Power-law distribution is followed by the functional gradation of the material across the beam width in the considered structure of the article. Following the well-known Hamilton's principle, fundamental basic equations alongside their correlated boundary conditions are solved analytically. Validation of the study is also done with published result. Distinct parameters (such as surface energy, slenderness ratio, as nonlocal material length scale and power-law exponent) influence is depicted graphically following the boundary conditions on non-dimensional FG nanobeams frequency.
