This research aims to seek active control of ball-beam position stability by resorting to neural networks whose layers are given bias weights. The controller consists of an LQR (linear quadratic regulator) controller and a neural networks controller in parallel. The latter is used to improve the responses of the established LQR control system, especially when controlling the system with nonlinear factors or modelling errors. For the learning of this control system, the feedback-error learning algorithm is utilized here. While the neural networks controller learns repetitive trajectories on line, feedback errors are back-propagated through neural networks. Convergence is made when the neural networks controller reversely learns and controls the plant. The goals of teaming are to expand the working range of the adaptive control system and to bridge errors owing to nonlinearity by adjusting parameters against the external disturbances and change of the nonlinear plant. The motion equation of the ball-beam system is derived from Newton's law. As the system is strongly nonlinear, lots of researchers have depended on classical systems to control it. Its applications of position control are seen in planes, ships, automobiles and so on. However, the research based on artificial control is quite recent. The current paper compares and analyzes simulation results by way of the LQR controller and the neural network controller in order to prove the efficiency of the neural networks control algorithm against any nonlinear system.
In this paper,we present neural network for control of Left Ventricular Assist Device(LVAD)system with a pneumatically driven mock cirulation system. It is necessary to apply high perfomance control techniques, since the LVAD system represent nonlinear and time-varing characteristics. Fortunately, the neural network can be applied to control of a nonliner dynamic system by learning capability. In this study,we identify the LVAD system with neural network and control the LVAD system by PID controller and neural network feedforward controller. The ability and effectiveness of controlling the LVAD system using the proposed algorithm will be demonstrated by computer simulation and experiment.

Prediction of the top(service) speeds of high-speed trains and configuration design to trainset of them has been studied using the neural network system The traction system. The traction system of high-speed trains is composed of transformers, motor blocks, and traction motors of which locations and number in the trainset formation should be determine in the early stage of train conceptural design. Components of the traction system are the heaviest parts in a train so that it gives strong influence to the top speeds of high-speed trains. Prediction of the top speeds has been performed mainly with data associated with the traction system based on the frequently used neural network system-backpropagation. The neural network has been trained with the data of the high-speed trains such as TGV, ICE, and Shinkanse. Configuration design of the trainset determines the number of trains motor cars, traction motors, weights and power of trains. Configuration results from the neural network are more accurate if neural networks is trained with data of the same type of trains will be designed.
This paper presents position control of nonlinear three-dimensional crane systems using neural network approach. Such crane system generally includes very complicated characteristic dynamics and mechanical framework such that its mathematical model is expressed by strong nonlinearity. This leads difficulty in control design for the systems. We linearize the nonlinear system model to construct PID control applying well-known linear control theory and then neural network is utilized to compensate system perturbation due to linearization. Thus, control input of the crane system is composed of nominal PID and neural output signals respectively. Our method illustrates simple design procedure, but system perturbation and modelling error are overcome through a neural compensator. As well. adaptive neural control is constructed from online learning. Computer simulation demonstrates our control approach is superior to the classic control systems.
In this paper, we describe the algorithm which controls an unknown nonlinear system with multilayer neural network. The multilayer neural network can be used to approximate any continuous function to any desired degree of accuracy. With the former fact, we approximate unknown nonlinear function on the nonlinear system by using of multilayer neural network. The weight-update rule of multilayer neural network is derived to satisfy Lyapunov stability. The whole control system constitutes controller using feedback linearization method. The weight of neural network which is used to implement nonlinear function is updated by the derived update-rule. The proposed control algorithm is verified through computer simulation.
This study considers an implementation of artificial neural networks to the receding horizon optimal control and is applications to power systems. The Generalized Backpropagation-Through-Time (GBTT) algorithm is presented to deal with a quadratic cost function defined in a finite-time horizon. A decentralized approach is used to control the complex global system with simpler local controllers that need only local information. A Neural network based Receding horizon Optimal Control (NROC) 1aw is derived for the local nonlinear systems. The proposed NROC scheme is implemented with two artificial neural networks, Identification Neural Network (IDNN) and Optimal Control Neural Network (OCNN). The proposed NROC is applied to a power system to improve the damping of the low-frequency oscillation. The simulation results show that the NROC based power system stabilizer performs well with good damping for different loading conditions and fault types.
It is very important to study displacement prediction in geotechnical engineering. Nowadays, the grey system method, time series analysis method and artificial neural network method are three main methods. Based on the brief introduction, the three methods are analyzed comprehensively. Their merits and demerits, applied ranges are revealed. To solve the shortcomings of the artificial neural network method, a new prediction method based on new evolutionary neural network is proposed. Finally, through two real engineering applications, the analysis of three main methods and the new evolutionary neural network method all have been verified. The results show that, the grey system method is a kind of exponential approximation to displacement sequence, and time series analysis is linear autoregression approximation, while artificial neural network is nonlinear autoregression approximation. Thus, the grey system method can suitably analyze the sequence, which has the exponential law, the time series method can suitably analyze the random sequence and the neural network method almostly can be applied in any sequences. Moreover, the prediction results of new evolutionary neural network method is the best, and its approximation sequence and the generalization prediction sequence are all coincided with the real displacement sequence well. Thus, the new evolutionary neural network method is an acceptable method to predict the measurement displacements of geotechnical engineering.
A Neural networks has been used for a expert system and fault diagnosis system. It is possible to nonlinear function mapping and parallel processing. Therefore It has been developing for a Diagnosis system of nuclear plower plant. In general Neural Networks is a static mapping but Dynamic Neural Network(DNN) is dynamic mapping.쪼두 a fault occur in system a state of system is changed with transient state. Because of a previous state signal is considered as a information DNN is better suited for diagnosis systems than static neural network. But a DNN has many weights so a real time implementation of diagnosis system is in need of a rapid network architecture. This paper presents a algorithm for RCP monitoring Alarm diagnosis system using Self Dynamic Neural Network(SDNN). SDNN has considerably fewer weights than a general DNN. Since there is no interlink among the hidden layer. The effectiveness of Alarm diagnosis system using the proposed algorithm is demonstrated by applying to RCP monitoring in Nuclear power plant.
This paper is implementation of cellular automata neural network system which is a living creatures' brain using evolving hardware concept. Cellular automata neural network system is based on the development and the evolution, in other words, it is modeled on the ontogeny and phylogeny of natural living things. The proposed system developes each cell's state in neural network by CA. And it regards code of CA rule as individual of genetic algorithm, and evolved by genetic algorithm. In this paper we implement this system using evolving hardware concept Evolving hardware is reconfigurable hardware whose configuration is under the control of an evolutionary algorithm. We design genetic algorithm process for evolutionary algorithm and cells in cellular automata neural network for the construction of reconfigurable system. The effectiveness of the proposed system is verified by applying it to time-series prediction.
Through fuzzy logic controller is very useful to many areas, it is difficult to build up the rule-base by experience and trial-error. So, effective self-tuning fuzzy controller for the position control of ball and beam is designed. In this paper, we developed the neural network control system with fuzzy-neuron which conducts the adjustment process for the parameters to satisfy have nonlinear property of the ball and beam system. The proposed algorithm is based on a fuzzy logic control system using a neural network learinign algorithm which is a back-propagation algorithm. This system learn membership functions with input variables. The purpose of the design is to control the position of the ball along the track by manipulating the angualr position of the serve. As a result, it is concluded that the neural network control system with fuzzy-neuron is more effective than the conventional fuzzy system.
