New learning algorithm to solve the inverse optimization problems

  • We discuss a neural network solver for the inverse optimization problem. The problem is that find functional relations between input and output data, which are include defects. Finding the relations, predictions of the defect parts are also required. The part of finding the defects in the input data is an inverse problem . We consider the meanings to solve the problem on the neural network system at first. Next, we consider the network structure of the system, the learning scheme of the network, and at last, examine the precision on the numerical calculations. 안정된 로봇걸음걸이를 위한 견실한 제어알고리즘 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Robust control Algorithm for Stable Robot Locomotion)

  • This study presents new scheme for various walking pattern of biped robot under the limitted enviroments. We show that the neural network is significantly more attractive intelligent controller design than previous traditional forms of control systems. A multilayer backpropagation neural network identification is simulated to obtain a learning control solution of biped robot. Once the neural network has learned, the other neural network control is designed for various trajectory tracking control with same learning-base. The main advantage of our scheme is that we do not require any knowledge about the system dynamic and nonlinear characteristic, and can therefore treat the robot as a black box. It is also shown that the neural network is a powerful control theory for various trajectory tracking control of biped robot with same learning-vase. That is, we do net change the control parameter for various trajectory tracking control. Simulation and experimental result show that the neural network is practically feasible and realizable for iterative learning control of biped robot.

  • Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) has become a popular choice in electric vehicle applications, due to their excellent power to weight ratio. This paper proposes maximum torque control of IPMSM drive using adaptive learning fuzzy neural network and artificial neural network. This control method is applicable over the entire speed range which considered the limits of the inverter's current md voltage rated value. For each control mode, a condition that determines the optimal d-axis current $i_d$ for maximum torque operation is derived. This paper considers the design and implementation of novel technique of high performance speed control for IPMSM using adaptive teaming fuzzy neural network and artificial neural network. The hybrid combination of neural network and fuzzy control will produce a powerful representation flexibility and numerical processing capability. Also, this paper proposes speed control of IPMSM using adaptive teaming fuzzy neural network and estimation of speed using artificial neural network. The back propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. The proposed control algorithm is applied to IPMSM drive system controlled adaptive teaming fuzzy neural network and artificial neural network, the operating characteristics controlled by maximum torque control are examined in detail. Also, this paper proposes the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of the adaptive teaming fuzzy neural network and artificial neural network.

전이학습을 이용한 효율적인 기타코드 분류 시스템 (An Efficient Guitar Chords Classification System Using Transfer Learning)

  • Artificial neural network is widely used for its excellent performance and implementability. However, traditional neural network needs to learn the system from scratch, with the addition of new input data, the variation of the observation environment, or the change in the form of input/output data. To resolve such a problem, the technique of transfer learning has been proposed. Transfer learning constructs a newly developed target system partially updating existing system and hence provides much more efficient learning process. Until now, transfer learning is mainly studied in the field of image processing and is not yet widely employed in acoustic data processing. In this paper, focusing on the scalability of transfer learning, we apply the concept of transfer learning to the problem of guitar chord classification and evaluate its performance. For this purpose, we build a target system of convolutional neutral network (CNN) based 48 guitar chords classification system by applying the concept of transfer learning to a source system of CNN based 24 guitar chords classification system. We show that the system with transfer learning has performance similar to that of conventional system, but it requires only half the learning time.

신경망과 전이학습 기반 표면 결함 분류에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Classification of Surface Defect Based on Deep Convolution Network and Transfer-learning)

  • In this paper, a method for improving the defect classification performance in low contrast, ununiformity and featureless steel plate surfaces has been studied based on deep convolution neural network and transfer-learning neural network. The steel plate surface images have low contrast, ununiformity, and featureless, so that the contrast between defect and defect-free regions are not discriminated. These characteristics make it difficult to extract the feature of the surface defect image. A classifier based on a deep convolution neural network is constructed to extract features automatically for effective classification of images with these characteristics. As results of the experiment, AlexNet-based transfer-learning classifier showed excellent classification performance of 99.43% with less than 160 seconds of training time. The proposed classification system showed excellent classification performance for low contrast, ununiformity, and featureless surface images.

Area Extraction of License Plates Using an Artificial Neural Network

  • In the current study, the authors propose a method for extracting license plate regions by means of a neural network trained to output the plate's center of gravity. The method is shown to be effective. Since the learning pattern presentation positions are defined by random numbers, a different pattern is submitted to the neural network for learning each time, which enables it to form a neural network with high universality of coverage. The article discusses issues of the optimal learning surface for a license plate covered by the learning pattern, the effect of suppression learning of the number and pattern enlargement/reduction and of concentration value conversion. Results of evaluation tests based on pictures of 595 vehicles taken at an under-ground parking garage demonstrated detection rates of 98.5%, 98.7%, and 100%, respectively.

Hybrid Neural Networks for Pattern Recognition

  • The hybrid neural networks have characteristics such as fast learning times, generality, and simplicity, and are mainly used to classify learning data and to model non-linear systems. The middle layer of a hybrid neural network clusters the learning vectors by grouping homogenous vectors in the same cluster. In the clustering procedure, the homogeneity between learning vectors is represented as the distance between the vectors. Therefore, if the distances between a learning vector and all vectors in a cluster are smaller than a given constant radius, the learning vector is added to the cluster. However, the usage of a constant radius in clustering is the primary source of errors and therefore decreases the recognition success rate. To improve the recognition success rate, we proposed the enhanced hybrid network that organizes the middle layer effectively by using the enhanced ART1 network adjusting the vigilance parameter dynamically according to the similarity between patterns. The results of experiments on a large number of calling card images showed that the proposed algorithm greatly improves the character extraction and recognition compared with conventional recognition algorithms.

  • Although artificial neural network based on backpropagation algorithm is an excellent system simulator, it has still unsolved problems of its structure-decision and learning method. That is, we cannot find a general approach to decide the structure of the neural network and cannot train it satisfactorily because of the local optimum point which it frequently falls into. In addition, although there are many successful applications using backpropagation learning algorithm, there are few efforts to improve the learning algorithm itself. In this study, we suggest a general way to construct the hidden layer of the neural network using binary genetic algorithm and also propose the various learning methods by which the global minimum value of the teaming error can be obtained. A XOR problem and line heating problems are investigated as examples.

펄스폭변조 기법을 이용한 신경망회로 설계 (A Neural Network Design using Pulsewidth-Modulation (PWM) Technique)

  • 본 논문에서는 학습과 정정 기능을 갖는 PWM 뉴럴네트워크를 설계하였다. 설계된 PWM 뉴럴시스템에서, 네트워크의 입력과 출력 신호들은 PWM 신호에 의해서 표현되어진다. 뉴럴네트워크에서 곱셈은 가장 많이 사용하는 동작이다. 승산과 합산의 기능은 PWM 기술과 간단한 혼합모드 회로기술에 의해서 실현된다. 그러므로 설계된 뉴럴네트워크는 단지 소규모의 칩상에서 구현될 수가 있다. 하나의 뉴런과 세개의 시냅스, 연관된 학습회로로 설계된 네트워크회로는 양호한 선형성과 넓은 범위의 동작범위를 가지고 있다. PWM을 이용한 신경망회로의 학습능력을 검증하기 위해, 델타 학습 규칙을 적용하였다. AND 기능과 OR 기능 학습 예측 HSPICE 시뮬레이션을 통해서 설계한 신경망회로의 기능이 성공적임을 증명하였다.

  • The neural networks are a famous model to learn the nonlinear function or nonlinear system. The main point of neural network is that the difference actual output from desired output is used to update weights. Usually, the gradient descent method is used for the learning process. On training process, if learning rate is too large, neural networks hardly guarantee convergence of neural networks. On the other hand, if learning rate is too small, the training spends much time. Therefore, one major problem in use of neural networks are to decrease the teaming time while neural networks are guaranteed convergence. In this paper, we suggest the model of fuzzy logic to neural networks to calibrate learning rate. This method is to tune learning rate dynamically according to error and demonstrates the optimization of training.
