  • Since the importance of software reliability for game service increases continuously, the reliability evaluation becomes very important. This research performed an experiment which was intended to analyze the effect of software verification and validation, a representative activity of the software development process, on the software reliability. The results from the experiments provided the reliability evaluation based on the development process (e.g., Bayesian Belief Network based reliability estimation) with very useful bases.

  • The specimens made by Z2CND18.12N austenitic stainless steel were conducted on a 100 kN closed loop servo hydraulic tension-compression testing machine with a digital controller. Uniaxial tension and uniaxial ratcheting effect tests were carried out at $25^{\circ}C$. Moreover, Uniaxial tension tests were conducted at $150^{\circ}C$, $250^{\circ}C$ and $350^{\circ}C$. Based on these experimental data, the prediction models of stress-strain curve and the relationship of ratcheting strain and number of cycles were established by the algorithm principle of BP neural network. The results indicated that the predicted results of neural network model were in well agreement with experimental data. It was found that the BP neural network model had high validity and accuracy.

  • In a Vehicular Cloud (VC) network, an announcement protocol plays a critical role in promoting safety and efficiency by enabling vehicles to disseminate safety-related messages. The reliability of message exchange is essential for improving traffic safety and road conditions. However, verifying the message authenticity could lead to the potential compromise of vehicle privacy, presenting a significant security challenge in the VC network. In contrast, if any misbehavior occurs, the accountable vehicle must be identifiable and removed from the network to ensure public safety. Addressing this conflict between message reliability and privacy requires a secure protocol that satisfies accountability properties while preserving user privacy. This paper presents a novel announcement protocol for secure communication in VC networks that utilizes group signature to achieve seemingly contradictory goals of reliability, privacy, and accountability. We have developed the first comprehensive announcement protocol for VC using group signature, which has been shown to improve the performance efficiency and feasibility of the VC network through performance analysis and simulation results.

  • Intermittent failures exercise their effects only part of the time but constitute a dominant factor for the field failures. We consider the data raliability of the partially self-checking network with which a single intermittent failure will be recovered by a rollback method. Even if the self-testingness of partially self-checking network is guranteed for a set of permanent failures, it sometimes may not be so for intermittent failures. We introduce the notion of error residual and provide the basis for calculating the data reliability. Both the duration of each intermittent failure and the occurrence interval of successive ones are assumed to be negative exponentially distributed; the convolution of the intervals is distributed according to an Erlangen distribution.

  • This paper reviews methods used to perform reliability and availability analysis of the network system composed by nodes and links. The combination of nodes and links forms virtual connections (VC). The failure of several VCs cause failure of whole network system. Petri Net models are used to analyze the reliability and availability. Stochastic reward nets (SRN) is an extension of stochastic Petri nets provides modelling facilities for network system analysis.

  • This paper presents a probabilistic approach of reliability evaluation and economic assessment for solving transmission network expansion planning problems. Three methods are proposed for TNEP, which are reorganizing the existing power system focused on the buses of interest, selecting candidates using modified system operating state method with healthy, marginal and at-risk states, and finally choosing the optimal alternative using cost-optimization method. TNEP candidates can be selected based on the state reliability such as sufficient and insufficient indices, as proposed in this paper. The process of economic assessment involves the costs of construction, maintenance and operation, congestion, and outage. The case studies are carried out with modified IEEE-24 bus system and Jeju island power system expansion plan in Korea, to verify the proposed methodology.

  • When we predict of software reliability, we can't know the testing stopping time and how many faults be residues in software the (the maximum value of data) during these software testing process, therefore we assume the maximum value and the training result can be inaccuracy. In this paper, we present neural network approach for software reliability prediction with unnormalized (actual or original collected) data. This approach is not consider the maximum value of data and possible use the network without normalizing but the predictive accuracy is better. Also, the unnormalized method shows better predictive accuracy than the normalized method given by maximum value. Therefore, we can make the best use of this model in software reliability prediction using unnormalized data.

  • This paper describes the issues that must be considered for the diagnosis and improvement of home network systems during the product development phase, and what must be done to resolve the reliability problem when a system is about to enter the Japanese market. It suggests that after the product specifications are determined, an accurate analysis of the environment is needed, and should include factors such as the temperature, humidity and power source of the country concerned. Furthermore, the video standards, residential complex installation environment, wiring specifications, and approval standards must be considered. All the above processes are described in this paper through the case study. The purpose of this paper is that suggested procedures in this research is to be used as a reference for developing similar products in the future.

  • Optimum design of water distribution network(WDN) in many times means just reducing redundancy. Given only a few situations are taken into consideration for such design, WDN deprived of inherited redundancy may not work properly in some unconsidered cases. Quantifying redundancy and incorporating it into the optimal design process will be a way of overcoming just reduction of redundancy. Expected shortage is developed as a reliability surrogate in WDN. It is an indicator of the frequency, duration and severity of failure. Using this surrogate, Expected Shortage Optimization Model (ESOM) is developed. ESOM is tested with an example network and results are analyzed and compared with those from other reliability models. The analysis results indicate that expected shortage is a quantitative surrogate measure, especially, good in comparing different designs and obtaining tradeoff between cost and. reliability. In addition, compared other models, ESOM is also proved useful in optimizing WDN with reliability and powerful in controlling reliability directly in the optimization process, even if computational burden is high. Future studies are suggested which focus on how to increase applicability and flexibility of ESOM.
