End-to-end 비자기회귀식 가속 음성합성기 (End-to-end non-autoregressive fast text-to-speech)

  • Autoregressive한 TTS 모델은 불안정성과 속도 저하라는 본질적인 문제를 안고 있다. 모델이 time step t의 데이터를 잘못 예측했을 때, 그 뒤의 데이터도 모두 잘못 예측하는 것이 불안정성 문제이다. 음성 출력 속도 저하 문제는 모델이 time step t의 데이터를 예측하려면 time step 1부터 t-1까지의 예측이 선행해야 한다는 조건에서 발생한다. 본 연구는 autoregression이 야기하는 문제의 대안으로 end-to-end non-autoregressive 가속 TTS 모델을 제안한다. 본 연구의 모델은 Tacotron 2 - WaveNet 모델과 근사한 MOS, 더 높은 안정성 및 출력 속도를 보였다. 본 연구는 제안한 모델을 토대로 non-autoregressive한 TTS 모델 개선에 시사점을 제공하고자 한다.

단노출 플래시 스마트폰 영상에서 저속 동조 영상 생성 (Slow Sync Image Synthesis from Short Exposure Flash Smartphone Images)

  • 저속 동조는 촬영자가 장노출과 카메라 플래시를 동시에 이용해서 전경과 배경을 밝게 하는 촬영 기법이다. 단노출 플래시 촬영과 플래시 없는 장노출 촬영과는 달리 저속 동조는 어두운 환경에서의 밝은 전경과 배경을 보장한다. 하지만 스마트폰으로 저속 동조 촬영은 어려운데, 이는 스마트폰 카메라의 플래시는 약한 지속 광이고 노출 시간이 길어지면 플래시를 켜지 못하기 때문이다. 본 연구에서는 단노출 플래시 영상에서 저속 동조 영상을 만드는 딥러닝 방법을 제안한다. 본 연구에서는 공간상에서 가변적인 영상 밝기 개선을 위해 가중치 맵을 적용한 네트워크를 제안한다. 본 연구에서는 지도 학습을 위한 스마트폰 단노출 플래시 영상과 저속 동조 영상 데이터 세트도 제안한다. RAW 영상의 선형성을 이용해 단노출 플래시 영상과 플래시 없는 장노출 영상으로부터 저속 동조 영상을 생성해서 데이터 세트를 구축한다. 실험을 통해 본 연구의 방법이 저속 동조 영상을 효과적으로 생성하는 것을 볼 수 있다.

  • 폴리카보실란은 탄화규소 섬유 방사와 세라믹 제조를 위해 필요한 중요한 전구체이며, 이 전구체는 제조방법 및 공정에 따라 고내열성 및 내산화성 및 연속적인 탄화규소 섬유 생산 능력이 달라진다. 탄화규소 섬유는 폴리카보실란의 합성, 정제 및 분자구조제어기술, 그리고 이를 이용한 용융방사 및 안정화, 열처리 공정을 통해 제조된다. 본 논문에서는 폴리카보실란 전구체를 다양한 용매처리를 통하여 전구체 내에 존재하는 미반응물 및 저분자량의 정제효과를 파악하였으며, 또한 다양한 온도에서의 열처리에 따른 폴리카보실란 전구체의 중합 및 네트워크 재배열에 의한 변화에 대해 열적 분석을 실시하였다. 특히, 폴리카보실란 전구체의 유변물성 특성을 통해 용매처리 및 열처리에 따른 복합점도 및 구조적 배열의 변화를 분석하였다.

Profiling of differentially expressed proteins between fresh and frozen-thawed Duroc boar semen using ProteinChip CM10

  • Many studies have been conducted to improve technology for semen cryopreservation in pigs. However, computer-assisted analysis of sperm motility and morphology is insufficient to predict the molecular function of frozen-thawed semen. More accurate expression patterns of boar sperm proteins may be derived using the isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ) technique. In this study, the iTRAQ-labeling system was coupled with liquid chromatography tandem-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis to identify differentially expressed CM10-fractionated proteins between fresh and frozen-thawed boar semen. A total of 76 protein types were identified to be differentially expressed, among which 9 and 67 proteins showed higher and lower expression in frozen-thawed than in fresh sperm samples, respectively. The classified functions of these proteins included oxidative phosphorylation, mitochondrial inner membrane and matrix, and pyruvate metabolic processes, which are involved in adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthesis; and sperm flagellum and motile cilium, which are involved in sperm tail structure. These results suggest a possible network of biomarkers associated with survival after the cryopreservation of Duroc boar semen.

Ginsenosides Rg1 regulate lipid metabolism and temperature adaptation in Caenorhabditis elegans

  • Background: Obesity is a risk factor for aging and many diseases, and the disorder of lipid metabolism makes it prominent. This study aims to investigate the effect of ginsenoside Rg1 on aging, lipid metabolism and stress resistance Methods: Rg1 was administered to Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) cultured in NGM or GNGM. The lifespan, locomotory activity, lipid accumulation, cold and heat stress resistance and related mRNA expression of the worms were examined. Gene knockout mutants were used to clarify the effect on lipid metabolism of Rg1. GFP-binding mutants were used to observe the changes in protein expression Results: We reported that Rg1 reduced lipid accumulation and improved stress resistance in C. elegans. Rg1 significantly reduced the expression of fatty acid synthesis-related genes and lipid metabolism-related genes in C. elegans. However, Rg1 did not affect the fat storage in fat-5/fat-6 double mutant or nhr-49 mutant. Combined with network pharmacology, we clarified the possible pathways and targets of Rg1 in lipid metabolism. In addition, Rg1-treated C. elegans showed a higher expression of anti-oxidative genes and heat shock proteins, which might contribute to stress resistance Conclusion: Rg1 reduced fat accumulation by regulating lipid metabolism via nhr-49 and enhanced stress resistance by its antioxidant effect in C. elegans.

Physiological and transcriptome analysis of acclimatory response to cold stress in marine red alga Pyropia yezoensis

  • Red macroalga Pyropia yezoensis is a high valuable cultivated marine crop. Its acclimation to cold stress is especially important for long cultivation period across winter in coasts of warm temperate zone in East Asia. In this study, the response of P. yezoensis thalli to low temperature was analyzed on physiology and transcriptome level, to explore its acclimation mechanism to cold stress. The results showed that the practical photosynthesis activity (indicated by ΦPSII and qP) was depressed and pigment allophycocyanin content was decreased during the cold stress of 48 h. However, the Fv/Fm and non-photochemical quenching increased significantly after 24 h, and the average growth rate of thalli also rebounded from 24 to 48 h, indicating a certain extent of acclimation to cold stress. On transcriptionally, the low temperature promoted the expression of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to carbohydrate metabolism and energy metabolism, while genes related to photosynthetic system were depressed. The increased expression of DEGs involved in ribosomal biogenesis and lipid metabolism which could accelerate protein synthesis and enhance the degree of fatty acid unsaturation, might help P. yezoensis thallus cells to cope with cold stress. Further co-expression network analysis revealed differential expression trends along with stress time, and corresponding hub genes play important roles in the systemic acquired acclimation to cold stress. This study provides basic mechanisms of P. yezoensis acclimation to cold temperature and may aid in exploration of functional genes for genetic breeding of economic macroalgae.

Comprehensive Lipid Profiling Recapitulates Enhanced Lipolysis and Fatty Acid Metabolism in Intimal Foamy Macrophages From Murine Atherosclerotic Aorta

  • Lipid accumulation in macrophages is a prominent phenomenon observed in atherosclerosis. Previously, intimal foamy macrophages (FM) showed decreased inflammatory gene expression compared to intimal non-foamy macrophages (NFM). Since reprogramming of lipid metabolism in macrophages affects immunological functions, lipid profiling of intimal macrophages appears to be important for understanding the phenotypic changes of macrophages in atherosclerotic lesions. While lipidomic analysis has been performed in atherosclerotic aortic tissues and cultured macrophages, direct lipid profiling has not been performed in primary aortic macrophages from atherosclerotic aortas. We utilized nanoflow ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry to provide comprehensive lipid profiles of intimal non-foamy and foamy macrophages and adventitial macrophages from Ldlr-/- mouse aortas. We also analyzed the gene expression of each macrophage type related to lipid metabolism. FM showed increased levels of fatty acids, cholesterol esters, phosphatidylcholine, lysophosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylinositol, and sphingomyelin. However, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidic acid, and ceramide levels were decreased in FM compared to those in NFM. Interestingly, FM showed decreased triacylglycerol (TG) levels. Expressions of lipolysis-related genes including Pnpla2 and Lpl were markedly increased but expressions of Lpin2 and Dgat1 related to TG synthesis were decreased in FM. Analysis of transcriptome and lipidome data revealed differences in the regulation of each lipid metabolic pathway in aortic macrophages. These comprehensive lipidomic data could clarify the phenotypes of macrophages in the atherosclerotic aorta.

한국우주전파관측망(KVN)의 영상모의실험 (IMAGING SIMULATIONS FOR THE KOREAN VLBI NETWORK(KVN))

  • 한국우주전파관측망(Korean VLBI Network: KVN)은 우리나라 최초의 초장기선 전파간섭계로 새로운 천문우주 연구 분야 및 측지, 지구물리 등의 연구를 위하여 3기의 21m 최첨단 밀리미터파 전파 안테나를 이용하여 우주를 바라보는 새로운 영역을 개척할 예정이다. 전파간섭계의 성능은 안테나 배열 및 관측 대상 천체의 적위, 그리고 천체와 크기 및 형태에 따른 의존성이 매우 크다. 본 연구는 현재 설정되어있는 KVN관측소 및 시스템 자료를 근거로 단일 점광원, 다중 점광원, 원형광원 2개, Cygnus A의 5개 모델 영상에 대하여 가상관측을 수행하였다. 적위에 따른 KVN의 UV 궤적 분포로부터 가장 이상적이라고 여겨지는 적위 60도인 천체에 대하여 22GHz의 관측 파장으로 12시간 동안 가상관측을 수행하여 얻어진 UV데이터를 가지고 간섭계 표준 영상처리를 하였다. 그 결과 22GHz에서 예상되는 KVN의 빔 크기에 의해 분해가 되지 않는 모델들의 RMS 대비 최대밝기 강도(Jy/Beam)가 대략 점광원의 징우 l0000:1, 지름 6mas(milli arcsecond) 원형 광원의 경우 5000:1 정도로 매우 높은 반면, 빔 크기보다 큰 모델에서는 115:1 및 34:1정도로 현저하게 감소하였으며 영상의 복원 정도도 이와 같은 결과를 보였다. 이것은 KVN이 상대적으로 적은 기선의 개수로 인하여 UV평면을 충분히 채우지 못하며, 동시에 짧은 기선이 부족하여 넓은 분포를 가지는 천체들에 대한 영상화능력이 떨어지기 때문이다. 그러나 각 모델과 CLEAN 영상과의 픽셀 좌표비교에서는 12mas 원형광원을 제외하고는 정확하게 일치함을 보였다. 그러므로 KVN의 주요한 관측 대상은 콤팩트한 천체들이 적당할 것이며, 이러한 천체들에 대하여 KVN은 위치측정에 우수한 성능을 보였다.

A hybrid algorithm for the synthesis of computer-generated holograms

  • A new approach to reduce the computation time of genetic algorithm (GA) for making binary phase holograms is described. Synthesized holograms having diffraction efficiency of 75.8% and uniformity of 5.8% are proven in computer simulation and experimentally demonstrated. Recently, computer-generated holograms (CGHs) having high diffraction efficiency and flexibility of design have been widely developed in many applications such as optical information processing, optical computing, optical interconnection, etc. Among proposed optimization methods, GA has become popular due to its capability of reaching nearly global. However, there exits a drawback to consider when we use the genetic algorithm. It is the large amount of computation time to construct desired holograms. One of the major reasons that the GA' s operation may be time intensive results from the expense of computing the cost function that must Fourier transform the parameters encoded on the hologram into the fitness value. In trying to remedy this drawback, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) has been put forward, allowing CGHs to be created easily and quickly (1), but the quality of reconstructed images is not high enough to use in applications of high preciseness. For that, we are in attempt to find a new approach of combiningthe good properties and performance of both the GA and ANN to make CGHs of high diffraction efficiency in a short time. The optimization of CGH using the genetic algorithm is merely a process of iteration, including selection, crossover, and mutation operators [2]. It is worth noting that the evaluation of the cost function with the aim of selecting better holograms plays an important role in the implementation of the GA. However, this evaluation process wastes much time for Fourier transforming the encoded parameters on the hologram into the value to be solved. Depending on the speed of computer, this process can even last up to ten minutes. It will be more effective if instead of merely generating random holograms in the initial process, a set of approximately desired holograms is employed. By doing so, the initial population will contain less trial holograms equivalent to the reduction of the computation time of GA's. Accordingly, a hybrid algorithm that utilizes a trained neural network to initiate the GA's procedure is proposed. Consequently, the initial population contains less random holograms and is compensated by approximately desired holograms. Figure 1 is the flowchart of the hybrid algorithm in comparison with the classical GA. The procedure of synthesizing a hologram on computer is divided into two steps. First the simulation of holograms based on ANN method [1] to acquire approximately desired holograms is carried. With a teaching data set of 9 characters obtained from the classical GA, the number of layer is 3, the number of hidden node is 100, learning rate is 0.3, and momentum is 0.5, the artificial neural network trained enables us to attain the approximately desired holograms, which are fairly good agreement with what we suggested in the theory. The second step, effect of several parameters on the operation of the hybrid algorithm is investigated. In principle, the operation of the hybrid algorithm and GA are the same except the modification of the initial step. Hence, the verified results in Ref [2] of the parameters such as the probability of crossover and mutation, the tournament size, and the crossover block size are remained unchanged, beside of the reduced population size. The reconstructed image of 76.4% diffraction efficiency and 5.4% uniformity is achieved when the population size is 30, the iteration number is 2000, the probability of crossover is 0.75, and the probability of mutation is 0.001. A comparison between the hybrid algorithm and GA in term of diffraction efficiency and computation time is also evaluated as shown in Fig. 2. With a 66.7% reduction in computation time and a 2% increase in diffraction efficiency compared to the GA method, the hybrid algorithm demonstrates its efficient performance. In the optical experiment, the phase holograms were displayed on a programmable phase modulator (model XGA). Figures 3 are pictures of diffracted patterns of the letter "0" from the holograms generated using the hybrid algorithm. Diffraction efficiency of 75.8% and uniformity of 5.8% are measured. We see that the simulation and experiment results are fairly good agreement with each other. In this paper, Genetic Algorithm and Neural Network have been successfully combined in designing CGHs. This method gives a significant reduction in computation time compared to the GA method while still allowing holograms of high diffraction efficiency and uniformity to be achieved. 천연물로부터 Quorum Sensing 저해제의 탐색 (Detection of a Quorum-Sensing Inhibitor from the Natural Products)

  • 인간이 서로 간의 의사소통을 위해 언어를 사용하듯이, 세균의 경우도 외부 환경 변화를 신속히 감지하여 서로 효과적으로 대응하기 위해서 주변 세포들과 소통할 수 있는 세균만의 독특한 화학적 언어를 사용하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 특히, 일정 세포 농도에 도달했을 때 자체적으로 생산된 화학적 신호를 통해 개체 수를 인지하고 그에 따라 특정 유전자의 발현을 동시에 조절하는 quorum sensing (QS) 기작은 다양한 세균 종들에서 광범위하게 존재한다. 본 연구는 다양한 천연물 추출물들을 대상으로 QS 저해 활성을 확인하였는데 QS 지시균주인 Agrobacterium tumefaciens NT1과 화학적으로 합성한 QS autoinducers을 사용한 bioassay를 수행하였다. 그 결과 양배추, 파, 양파의 추출물들에서 QS 저해 활성을 확인하였고, recycling preparative HPLC (prep-HPLC)를 통한 정제 과정을 통해, 83분 지점의 peak에 해당하는 성분들이 공통으로 QS 저해 활성을 가지고 있음을 확인하였다. 따라서 그 QS 저해 성분을 QSI-83으로 지정하고 thin layer chromatography (TLC)를 통해 P. syringae pv. tabaci의 autoinducers 합성을 저해하는 활성을 가지고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 열에 대한 안정성과 세균 생장에서의 영향을 조사하였는데, 그 결과 QSI-83은 열에 안정하며 세균의 생장에는 영향을 끼치지 않는 물질임을 확인하였다. 따라서 우리는 천연물로부터 분리된 새로운 성분이 QS 저해제로서 이용될 수 있음을 제안한다.
