Implementation and Performance Evaluation of Socket and RMI based Java Message Passing Systems (소켓 및 RMI 기반 자바 메시지 전달 시스템의 구현 및 성능평가)

  • This paper designs and implements a message passing library called JMPI (Java Message Passing Interface) which complies with MPJ (Message Passing in Java), the MPI standard Specification for Java language, This library provides some graphic user interface tools to enable parallel computing environments to be configured very simply by their administrators and JMPI applications to be executed very conveniently. Also in this paper, we implement two versions of systems using Socket and RPC which are both typical distributed system communication mechanisms and with three benchmark applications, compare performance of these systems with that of an existing system JPVM depending on the increasing number of the computers. Experimental results show that our systems outperform JPVM system in terms of various aspects and that the most efficient processing speedup can be obtained by increasing the number of the computers in consideration of network traffic through processing evaluation. Finally, we can see that, as the number of computers increases, using RMI to transmit a message is more effective than using object streams attached to sockets to transmit a message.

  • In this paper, I describe the implementation of the distributed lists based on socket and on RMI(Remote Method Invocation). First, I describe and implement an interface of distributed list based on socket using object stream in a distributed environment, when encapsulating the message in the distributed list. Second, the major purpose to implement a distributed list in RMI is to compare advantages and disadvantages with other networking mechanisms by implementing complicated applications. The major advantage in using RMI is to implement simply the programs without using application-level protocol. In terms of program efficiency, the applications using HMI can degrade the performance due to many TCP/IP connections generated every update. TCP/IP connection requires much less cost than RMI. Even though RMI has the mechanism processing many method calls using a sing]e network connection, RMI is less efficient than the direct use of socket. However, RMI makes it possible to communicate beyond firewall using HTTP proxying mechanism. Consequently, I present a modeling of networking mechanism in finding out optimization solution by comparing and analyzing the two systems.

  • The purpose of this paper is the development of Integrated Bio-signal Management System. (IBMS) using the network. IBMS is the system to manage the medical signals that measured from the each independent medical measurement system module. Each has a LAN Card. We developed the Network Application using Socket Library. Also, we developed the Graphic User Interface software for IBMS using Visual C++ on Windows 95.

  • Recently Many technologies of the P.L.N (Power Line Network) are introduced for an efficient communication. P.L.N transmits information using power line channel. A medical information transmission system is proposed in this paper for the effective transmission. The Power Line Networks have an advantage in low cost because it uses existent power line. It can be easily applied anywhere that a power line socket is available. But the power line channel is very noisy, because many electronic devices in generate electronic noise in modulated signals. This problem should be considered carefully in the design of medical information transmission system using P.L.N. The proposed system can be applied...I propose a telemedicine system using the power line network.

  • In this paper, we introduced a fault tolerant control system with the aim of achieving higher degree of reliability for a PLC control system in the field network. The system reliability was evaluated by MTBF(Mean Time Between Failure). The design of the fault tolerant system through CC-Link of Mitsubisi's MELSEC network was presented. In addition, the PLC data is transmitted from the field network's PC to the host PC by TCP/IP Window socket.

  • Recently, the need for real-time systems which are providing various types of information that occur in large quantities in IoT environment is increasing. In this paper, we propose a middleware system which can monitor in real time on a web environment. The proposed system is designed to be integrated by using communication functions provided by a network operating system and external sensors. The proposed system is compared with an existing system and analysed by the server performance testing tool.

  • 네트워크 사용자의 급속한 증가로 네트워크 내의 부하를 감당하기에는 많은 어려움을 가져왔다. 이와 같은 이유로 기존의 TCP/IP에서 세션을 통하여 노드들 간의 통신을 연결하는 방식에서 현재는 하나의 채널을 통해 고속의 I/O가 가능하도록 하는 기술이 많이 연구되고 있다. 그 대표적인 것으로 인피니밴드가 있다. 인피니밴드는 프로세싱 노드와 입출력 장치 사이의 통신, 프로세스간 통신에 대한 산업 표준이 되고 있고 프로세싱 노드와 입출력 장치를 연결하기 위해 스위치 기반의 상호 연결은 전통적인 버스 입출력을 대체하는 새로운 입출력 방식이 사용된다. 또한 인피니밴드에서는 현재 많은 이슈가 되고 있는 RDMA 방식을 이용해 원격지 서버들 간에 직접 메모리 접근 방식을 통해 CPU와 OS의 로드를 최소화하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 RDMA를 적용한 새로운 채널 기반 네트웍의 프로토콜인 SDP(Socket Direct Protocol)를 구현하여 SDP_STREAM의 패킷 처리량에 대한 성능을 평가한다. 그리고 이에 대한 성능 평가를 위해서 Netperf 툴을 이용했다. 특히 Zero-Copy방식을 사용하지 않는 일반적인 소켓 API을 이용한 TCP_STREAM과 Zero-Copy방식을 이용한 SDP_STREAM의 패킷 처리량을 비교했으며 성능 평가 결과는 기존의 TCP_STREAM 패킷 처리량에 비해 약 3배 이상 향상된 결과를 나타냈다.

An Evaluation of Multimedia Data Downstream with PDA in an Infrastructure Network

  • A PDA is used mainly for downloading data from a stationary server such as a desktop PC in an infrastructure network based on wireless LAN. Thus, the overall performance depends heavily on the performance of such downloading with PDA. Unfortunately, for a PDA the time taken to receive data from a PC is longer than the time taken to send it by 53%. Thus, we measured and analyzed all possible factors that could cause the receiving time of a PDA to be delayed with a test bed system. There are crucial factors: the TCP window size, file access time of a PDA, and the inter-packet delay that affects the receiving time of a PDA. The window size of a PDA during the downstream is reduced dramatically to 686 bytes from 32,581 bytes. In addition, because flash memory is embedded into a PDA, writing data into the flash memory takes twice as long as reading the data from it. To alleviate these, we propose three distinct remedies: First, in order to keep the window size at a sender constant, both the size of a socket send buffer for a desktop PC and the size of a socket receive buffer for a PDA should be increased. Second, to shorten its internal file access time, the size of an application buffer implemented in an application should be doubled. Finally, the inter-packet delay of a PDA and a desktop PC at the application layer should be adjusted asymmetrically to lower the traffic bottleneck between these heterogeneous terminals.

  • Recently PC games are trending toward online. But, mobile games are not using network actively. Because there are two problems that low speed of mobile network and low specification of mobile device in wireless internet environment. But, solving problems by these started HSDPA services and increased performance of devices. In this paper, we implement mobile on-line real time game for develop mobile network in wireless internet environment.
