In this paper, we propose a subnetwork-based segment restoration scheme to reduce the restoration time and restoration resources. And we compare and analyze the restoration performance according to the size of divided subnetworks. Segment restoration is based on network partitioning where a large network is divided into several small subnetworks and the end-to-end data path is divided into multiple segments according to the subnetworks. In segment restoration, the link/node failure is restored by segment instead of end-to-end path. Because most faults are restored within the subnetwork, the restoration performance can be improved. From the simulation analysis, we verified that the proposed segment restoration has advantage of restoration time and backup resource utilization.
Restoring of damaged images is a fundamental problem that was attempted before digital image processing technology appeared. Various algorithms for reconstructing damaged images have been introduced. However, the results show inferior restoration results compared with manual restoration. Recent developments of DNN (Deep Neural Network) have introduced various studies that apply it to image restoration. However, if the wide area is damaged, it can not be solved by a general interpolation method. In this case, it is necessary to reconstruct the damaged area through contextual information of surrounding images. In this paper, we propose an image restoration network using a generative adversarial network (GAN). The proposed system consists of image generation network and discriminator network. The proposed network is verified through experiments that it is possible to recover not only the natural image but also the texture of the original image through the inference of the damaged area in restoring various types of images.
Optical-layer restoration has been demonstrated with a wavelength-blocker (WB) -based reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM). Two $2{\times}2$ optical switches with a control circuit were placed before and after a WB-based ROADM to provide automatic path restoration under fiber-failure conditions. Using the proposed node configuration, a 3-node self-healing ring (SHR) network has been implemented to demonstrate the feasibility of the automatic optical-layer restoration. From the results, the restoration time was measured to be ~4 ms under fiber-failure conditions, without any additional power penalty in receiver sensitivity.

This paper presents a approach for a service restoration and optimal reconfiguration of distribution network using Genetic algorithm(GA) and Tabu search(TS) method. Restoration and reconfiguration problems in distribution network are difficult to solve in short times, because distribution network supplies power for customers combined with many tie-line switches and sectionalizing switches. Furthermore, the solutions of these problems have to satisfy radial operation conditions and reliability indices. To overcome these time consuming and sub-optimal problem characteristics, this paper applied Genetic-Tabu algorithm. The Genetic-Tabu algorithm is a Tabu search combined with Genetic algorithm to complement the weak points of each algorithm. The case studies with 7 bus distribution network showed that not the loss reduction but also the reliability cost should be considered to achieve the economic service restoration and reconfiguration in the distribution network. The results of suggested Genetic-Tabu algorithm and simple Genetic algorithm are compared in the case study also.
On the optical network, it is important to build restoration scheme capable to network survivability in preparation of potential failure on communication route. This paper analyze the existing schemes on restoration of failure on the optical network, and propose deferred commit scheme to improve resource utilization and management efficiency. Also, the transfer flow of messages needed for transferring restoration signal are presented in a concrete way and delay time required by shared mesh restoration scheme is explained in a substantial way. Simulation-based comparative analysis of various schemes is performed.

Recently, the Multi-Layer Restoration(MLR) algorithm was proposed by British Telecom(BT) to restore the network failures in Digital Cross-connect System(DCS) mesh survival network[1, 2]. This algorithm has multi restoration stage which is composed of the pre-planned and dynamic restoration. This algorithm is effective its ability in link or node failures. This reason is that it does not restore in the pre-planned rstoration stage but in dynamic restoration stage. In this paper, we propose the MLR with pre-planned Multi-Chooser(PMC) and successive restoration ratio algorithm. This proposed algorithm has a excellent performance for restortion time and ratio, spare channel availability and fast restoration from multiple link failure or node failure. This paper proposed the modeling and restoration algorithm, and analyzed the performance of the algorithm by simulation using OPNET(OPtimized Network Engineering Tools).
This paper considers a network restoration algorithm for all-optical WDM networks. As the increasing traffic and transmission speed, any failure on the networks will lead to loss of huge data and disruption of the services. Therefore, a network restoration algorithm is necessary for the high-speed all-optical networks. This paper suggests a distributed restoration algorithm for line or channel level failures under the dynamic rerouting. For the algorithm, some measures for performance evaluation are explicitly derived and simulation studies are exploited to evaluate its usability by SLAM(Simulation Language for Alternative Modeling) II.
In this paper, we propose a method to search candidates of network reconfiguration to restore distribution system with distributed energy resources using a level-based tree search algorithm. First, we introduce a method of expressing distribution network with distributed energy resources for fault restoration, and to represent the distribution network into a simplified graph. Second, we explain the tree search algorithm, and introduce a method of performing the tree search on the basis of search levels, which we call a level-based tree search in this paper. Then, we propose a candidate search method for fault restoration, and explain it using an example. Finally, we verify the proposed method using computer simulations.
The CNN (convolutional neural network) based single degradation restoration method shows outstanding performance yet is tailored on solving a specific degradation type. In this paper, we present an algorithm of multi-degradation classification and restoration. We utilize the CNN based algorithm for solving image degradation classification problem using pre-trained Inception-v3 network. In addition, we use the existing CNN based algorithms for solving particular image degradation problems. We identity the restoration order of multi-degraded images empirically and compare with the non-reference image quality assessment score based on CNN. We use the restoration order to implement the algorithm. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can solve multi-degradation problem.
The article first presents a broad overview of the design and management for survivable network. We review the concept of network survivability, various protection and restoration schemes. Also we introduce design architectures of Quantitative model and a Survivable Ad hoc and Mesh Network Architecture. In the other side of study like these(traditional engineering approach), there is the concept of the survivable network systems based on an immune approach. There is one sample of the dynamic multi-routing algorithms in this paper.
