  • This study was surveyed from May to October, 2008 in order to classify type distribution and evaluate the function of inland wetland as a ecological axis in Chungnam province. Assessment was done by modified-RAM (Rapid Assessment Method). RAM is consisted of total 8 functions and divided into high, moderate, low. The conservation grade of RAM is divided into 4 grades; absolute conservation, conservation, improvement and restoration. Throughout survey on total 13 wetlands of Lacustrine, Palustrine wetland which are distributed in Chungnam province, their function was assessed. As result, the 2 wetlands were judged as absolute conservation grade by assessment of 8 functional contents, and 7 sites were improvement wetlands and 4 sites were conservation wetlands. The function of wetlands assessed as conservation grade showed high in water quality protection and improvement. Also, showed high in vegetation diversity, wildlife habitat and aesthetic recreation. Meanwhile, showed low in Water quality purification, Shoreline/Stream Bank Protection. Of wetlands evaluated as conservation grade, Jeong-juk Ji and Dun-ri reservoir were assessed as absolute conservative area. These wetlands are essential to be managed continuously as a area having high ecological value. Farther, these wetlands will be done as a axis of ecological network related to 'Kumbuk jeongmaek' ecosystem.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop design model of ecological park as stormwater storage facilities. The results are as follows : First, the design model of ecological park as stormwater storage facilities consider ecological and landscape characteristics such as high efficiency of land use, function as disaster prevention, ecological water purification, formation of habitat for flora and fauna. Second, this study demonstrates two types of plane structure and eight types of designed section. They can be combined and designed depending on conditions of each site. The facilities of stormwater storage conduct disaster prevention system and ecological park. Retention pond in stormwater storage facilities for ecological park also should be made for ecological restoration in the site. Third, the ecological park provide the basis for ecological network from in-site to out-site. Therefore its conservation and restoration plan consider the ecosystems of the site. Fourth, the most important factor for maintenance and management for retention pond is keeping water quality. Sustainable Structured wetland Biotop system is suggested for ecological water purification system in the retention pond which is one of the constructed wetland system using multi-celled aquatic plant and pond. This system can also provide habitat for animals and plants, water friendly park for men, and beautiful landscape.

  • This study was conducted to clarify the distribution and fragmented points of mountain range and to select priority points for restoration by assessment in Daejeon. There were ten Semaek of mountain extended from three Jimaek in Daejeon. As a result of overlapping the main mountain ridge with a network of roads, twelve points out of total thirty-one fragmented points were chosen as practical points for restoration. We developed index and model to assess twelve practical points for restoration. All points were classified into three grades, four points of grade I, five points of grade II and three points of grade III. From this study, we proposed differentiated restoration plan for each grade. Further studies on development of more objective assessment and detailed methodology should be needed to prepare effective restoration plan.

  • Mountain streams, which are major components of an entire river network, play an important role as the source of water, sediment, coarse and fine organic matter, and nutrients for lowland rivers. Therefore, dynamics and downstream linkages of each compartment of the mountain stream can be essential for watershed management in catchment scale. The dynamics and downstream linkages are understood as a development of step-pool sequences along a river course. Recently, stream restoration after flooding event often employ the development of step-pool sequences in the world. In this paper, we 1) examined the geomorphic characteristics and the role of step-pool sequences in steep mountain streams by reviewing the results of past studies, and 2) introduced the case studies of stream restoration using step-pool sequences, and finally 3) addressed design methods considering geometry and stability of artificial step-pool sequences for stream restoration. Step-pool sequences play an important role not only as roughness with energy dissipation but also as heterogeneity of stream feature for aquatic habitat. Step-pool sequences, even if they are constructed artificially along a stream, may be effective for small stream restoration considering eco-friendly torrent controls. So far the artificial step-pool sequences were employed for mountainous streams, but those would be applied to urban stream.

  • When faults occur in a distribution network, blackout loads must be restored as fast as possible to minimize interruption of electric service. This paper presents an expert system to restore distribution networks. The system is designed to minimize switching operations in a heuristic sense by using heuristic rules. The restoration process is converted to the feasible path finding problem in the state space of expert system by application of general topological knowledge base. Multiple load transfer algorithm is proposed to deal with complex situations.

  • The key feature of GMPLS is the provision of network resources and the automatic set-up of a path. And the mechanism of protection and restoration of a path is presented when network component fails. This paper suggests CR-LDP Static Detour Mechanism and Dynamic Detour Mechanism. CR-LDP Detours are a mechanism to set up detour paths automatically at every node to protect working path. Hence suggested mechanism performance is compared with existing mechanisms by computer simulation.

  • Ghost imaging (GI) technology is developing rapidly, but there are inevitably some limitations such as the influence of atmospheric turbulence. In this paper, we study a ghost imaging system in atmospheric turbulence and use a gamma-gamma (GG) model to simulate the medium to strong range of turbulence distribution. With a compressed sensing (CS) algorithm and generative adversarial network (GAN), the image can be restored well. We analyze the performance of correlation imaging, the influence of atmospheric turbulence and the restoration algorithm's effects. The restored image's peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity index map (SSIM) increased to 21.9 dB and 0.67 dB, respectively. This proves that deep learning (DL) methods can restore a distorted image well, and it has specific significance for computational imaging in noisy and fuzzy environments.

  • The purpose of this study is to detect the protection area around the Geum-buk and Geum-nam Mountains for making a sustainable ecological network. The protection area in the Geum-buk and Geum-nam Mountains was analyzed by using spatial data and a field survey for landscape conservation purposes. A survey scope was fixed using digital elevation model, and the protection area was finally determined based on the parcel map called as the Korea Land Information System (KLIS). Here we have several conclusions in this study. First, spatial data used in this study were a map of ecological and natural degree (MEND), forest distribution map, elevation map, slope map, and several maps for the protection area assigned by laws regarding to the natural resources. Second, we used 4 alternatives to determine the best choice for showing the ecological network in the study area. One alternative (alt. 3) of 4 ones was finally chosen as the best condition for making the ecological network. The condition in elevation and slope was a little modified to a lower level in alt, 3. The result derived from alt, 3 reflected the continuity and connectivity in the ecological network and we estimate that the protection area can protect the core area using the buffer zone around the ecological network. Finally the parcel-based protection area in the Geum-buk and Geum-nam Mountains had $493.92km^2$ of the core area, and $233.99km^2$ of the buffer zone, which means the parcel-based protection area increased by $97.76km^2$ in the core area, but decreased by $76.61km^2$ as of in the topographical map.
