  • WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) standard is currently developing with increased wireless internet demand. Though existing IEEE 802.11e demonstrates that data rates exceed 54Mbps with assuring QoS(Quality of Service), wireless internet users can't be satisfied with real communication system. After IEEE 802.11e system, Study trends of IEEE 802.11n show two aspects, enhanced system throughput using aggregation among packets in MAC (Medium Access Control) layer, and better data rates adapting MIMO(Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) in PHY(Physical) layer. But, no one demonstrates IEEE 802.11n system performance results considering MAC and PHY connection. Therefore, this paper adapts MIMO in PHY layer for IEEE 802.11n system based on A-MPDU(Aggregation-MAC Protocol Data Unit) method in MAC layer considering MAC and PHY connection. SVD(Singular Value Decomposition) method with WLAN MIMO TGn Channel is used to analyze MIMO. Consequently, Simulation results show enhanced throughput and data rates compared to existing system. Also, We use Ns-2(Network Simulator-2) considering MAC and PHY connection for reality.

  • This paper proposes a medium access control (MAC) protocol for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) ad-hoc networks. Multiple-packet receptions in MIMO systems have attracted as a key technique to achieve a high transmission rate. In the conventional protocols for multiple-packet receptions, timing offsets among multiple-frame transmissions cause frame collisions induced by hidden nodes, which degrades network performance. In the proposed protocol, transmission synchronization among hidden nodes can be achieved by applying pulse/tone exchanges. By applying the pulse/tone exchanges, multiple-packet receptions among hidden nodes can be achieved, which enhances network throughputs compared with the conventional protocol. Simulation results show effectiveness of the proposed protocol.

  • In this paper, we propose a data-driven-based beam selection scheme for massive multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) systems in ultra-dense networks (UDN), which is capable of addressing the problem of high computational cost of conventional coordinated beamforming approaches. We consider highly dense small-cell scenarios with more small cells than mobile stations, in the millimetre-wave band. The analog beam selection for hybrid beamforming is a key issue in realizing millimetre-wave UDN MIMO systems. To reduce the computation complexity for the analog beam selection, in this paper, two deep neural network models are used. The channel samples, channel gains, and radio frequency beamforming vectors between the access points and mobile stations are collected at the central/cloud unit that is connected to all the small-cell access points, and are used to train the networks. The proposed machine-learning-based scheme provides an approach for the effective implementation of massive MIMO system in UDN environment.

  • This work investigates the progressive linear precoder design for packet retransmissions in multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems with multiple codewords and automatic repeat request (ARQ) bundling feedback. Assuming perfect channel state information, a novel progressive linear ARQ precoder is proposed in the perspective of minimizing the packet error rate. We devise the ARQ precoder by combining power loading and sub channel pairing between current retransmission and previous transmissions. Furthermore, we extend the design to the case that the channel estimation error exists. Numerical results show that the proposed scheme can improve the performance of MIMO ARQ systems significantly regardless of the channel estimation error.

  • In this study, we developed a co-located and space-shared multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna module with a modular design and high integration level. The proposed antenna pair includes a half-wavelength loop antenna and a dipole-type antenna printed on the front and back sides of a compact modular board. Owing to their modal orthogonality, these two independent antenna elements are highly self-isolated and free of additional decoupling components, even though they are assembled at the same location and within the same space. Thus, the proposed antenna is attractive in 5G MIMO systems. Furthermore, the proposed co-located and space-shared MIMO antenna module was employed in a 5G smartphone to verify their radiation and diversity performances. A 12 × 12 MIMO antenna system was simulated and fabricated using the proposed module. Based on the results, the proposed module can be employed in large-scale MIMO antenna systems for current and future terminal devices owing to its high integration, compactness, simple implementation, and inherent isolation.

  • In medium- and long-range optical imaging systems, atmospheric turbulence causes blurring and distortion of images, resulting in loss of image information. An image-restoration method based on an adaptive feature-fusion multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) dense U-shaped network (Unet) is proposed, to restore a single image degraded by atmospheric turbulence. The network's model is based on the MIMO-Unet framework and incorporates patch-embedding shallow-convolution modules. These modules help in extracting shallow features of images and facilitate the processing of the multi-input dense encoding modules that follow. The combination of these modules improves the model's ability to analyze and extract features effectively. An asymmetric feature-fusion module is utilized to combine encoded features at varying scales, facilitating the feature reconstruction of the subsequent multi-output decoding modules for restoration of turbulence-degraded images. Based on experimental results, the adaptive feature-fusion MIMO dense U-shaped network outperforms traditional restoration methods, CMFNet network models, and standard MIMO-Unet network models, in terms of image-quality restoration. It effectively minimizes geometric deformation and blurring of images.

  • In this paper, we proposed reliability and capacity enhancement methods for IEEE 802.15.3 HDR-WPAN (High Data Rate-Wireless Personal Area Network) system which is currently getting an interest in home network technology adopting a MIMO technique. We also analyzed performance or the proposed system through a computer simulation. The HDR-WPAN system using V-BLAST algorithm, transmitting the different signal vector to each other's sub-channel, can get the transmission speed of more than 110Mbps using two Tx/Px antenna without bandwidth expansion in TCM-64QAM mode. Also the proposed system has reliability of 104 at $E_b/N_0=35dB$ under the Rayleigh fading channel in case of two Tx/Rx antenna with MMSE algorithm. The HDR-WPAN system adopting V-BLAST method has its drawback which is very complicated to determine the decision-ordering at the receiver. But, the proposed system enhances the transmission capacity and reliability without extra bandwidth expansion by sending data streams to multiple antennas.

  • We investigate mobile multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) molecular communication via diffusion (MCvD) system which is consisted of two source nodes, two destination nodes and one relay node in the mobile three-dimensional channel. First, the combinations of decode-and-forward (DF) relaying protocol and network coding (NC) scheme are implemented at relay node. The adaptive thresholds at relay node and destination nodes can be obtained by maximum a posteriori (MAP) probability detection method. Then the mathematical expressions of the average bit error probability (BEP) of this mobile MIMO MCvD system based on DF and NC scheme are derived. Furthermore, in order to minimize the average BEP, we establish the optimization problem with optimization variables which include the ratio of the number of emitted molecules at two source nodes and the initial position of relay node. We put forward an iterative scheme based on block coordinate descent algorithm which can be used to solve the optimization problem and get optimal values of the optimization variables simultaneously. Finally, the numerical results reveal that the proposed iterative method has good convergence behavior. The average BEP performance of this system can be improved by performing the joint optimizations.

  • In this paper, a dual-band MIMO antenna with a band stop matching circuit for next generation USB dongle application is proposed. The proposed multiband MIMO antenna consists of two dual-band PIFAs which provide wideband characteristics. In order to improve the isolation characteristic at the LTE(Long Term Evolution) band, a band stop matching circuit was inserted at the corner of each antenna element. The inserted band stop matching circuit is to suppress the surface current at the specific frequency band and to generate two additional resonances around 770 MHz for LTE band and near 830 MHz for digital communications network(DCN) service. The proposed MIMO antenna can cover LTE and DCN services, simultaneously.
