Biometrics identification using multiple modalities has attracted the attention of many researchers as it produces more robust and trustworthy results than single modality biometrics. In this paper, we present a novel multimodal recognition system that trains a deep learning network to automatically learn features after extracting multiple biometric modalities from a single data source, i.e., facial video clips. Utilizing different modalities, i.e., left ear, left profile face, frontal face, right profile face, and right ear, present in the facial video clips, we train supervised denoising auto-encoders to automatically extract robust and non-redundant features. The automatically learned features are then used to train modality specific sparse classifiers to perform the multimodal recognition. Moreover, the proposed technique has proven robust when some of the above modalities were missing during the testing. The proposed system has three main components that are responsible for detection, which consists of modality specific detectors to automatically detect images of different modalities present in facial video clips; feature selection, which uses supervised denoising sparse auto-encoders network to capture discriminative representations that are robust to the illumination and pose variations; and classification, which consists of a set of modality specific sparse representation classifiers for unimodal recognition, followed by score level fusion of the recognition results of the available modalities. Experiments conducted on the constrained facial video dataset (WVU) and the unconstrained facial video dataset (HONDA/UCSD), resulted in a 99.17% and 97.14% Rank-1 recognition rates, respectively. The multimodal recognition accuracy demonstrates the superiority and robustness of the proposed approach irrespective of the illumination, non-planar movement, and pose variations present in the video clips even in the situation of missing modalities.

Because of the abrupt idea of the flare-up and the irresistible force of the infection, it causes individuals tension, melancholy, and other pressure responses. The avoidance and control of the novel Covid pneumonia have moved into an imperative stage. It is fundamental to early foresee and figure of infection episode during this troublesome opportunity to control of its grimness and mortality. The entire world is investing unimaginable amounts of energy to fight against the spread of this lethal infection. In this paper, we utilized machine learning and deep learning techniques for analyzing what is going on utilizing countries shared information and for detecting the climate factors that effect on spreading Covid-19, such as humidity, sunny hours, temperature and wind speed for understanding its regular dramatic way of behaving alongside the forecast of future reachability of the COVID-2019 around the world. We utilized data collected and produced by Kaggle and the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science. The dataset has 25 attributes and 9566 objects. Our Experiment consists of two phases. In phase one, we preprocessed dataset for DL model and features were decreased to four features humidity, sunny hours, temperature and wind speed by utilized the Pearson Correlation Coefficient technique (correlation attributes feature selection). In phase two, we utilized the traditional famous six machine learning techniques for numerical datasets, and Dense Net deep learning model to predict and detect the climatic factor that aide to disease outbreak. We validated the model by using confusion matrix (CM) and measured the performance by four different metrics: accuracy, f-measure, recall, and precision.

As the growth of ubiquitous services, various types of ad hoc networks have emerged. In particular, wireless sensor networks (WSN) and mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are widely known ad hoc networks, but there are also other kinds of wireless ad hoc networks in which the characteristics of the aforementioned two network types are mixed together. This paper proposes a variant of the Low Energy Adaptive Cluster Hierarchy (LEACH) routing protocol modified to be suitable in such a combined network environment. That is, the proposed routing protocol provides node detection and route discovery/maintenance in a network with a large number of mobile sensor nodes, while preserving node mobility, network connectivity, and energy efficiency. The proposed routing protocol is implemented with a multi-hop multi-path algorithm, a topology reconfiguration technique using node movement estimation and vibration sensors, and an efficient path selection and data transmission technique for a great many moving nodes. In the experiments, the performance of the proposed protocol is demonstrated by comparing it to the conventional LEACH protocol.

Forest fires are one of the most important environmental risks that have adverse effects on many aspects of life, such as the economy, environment, and health. The early detection, quick prediction, and rapid response of forest fires can play an essential role in saving property and life from forest fire risks. For the rapid discovery of forest fires, there is a method using meteorological data obtained from local sensors installed in each area by the Meteorological Agency. Meteorological conditions (e.g., temperature, wind) influence forest fires. This study evaluated a Data Mining (DM) approach to predict the burned area of forest fires. Five DM models, e.g., Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD), Support Vector Machines (SVM), Decision Tree (DT), Random Forests (RF), and Deep Neural Network (DNN), and four feature selection setups (using spatial, temporal, and weather attributes), were tested on recent real-world data collected from Gyeonggi-do area over the last five years. As a result of the experiment, a DNN model using only meteorological data showed the best performance. The proposed model was more effective in predicting the burned area of small forest fires, which are more frequent. This knowledge derived from the proposed prediction model is particularly useful for improving firefighting resource management.

Recently, neural network-based speech recognition has been studied to utilize the adaptivity and learnability of neural network models. However, conventional neural network models have difficulty in the co-articulation processing and the boundary detection of similar phonmes of the Korean speech. Also, in case of using one phonotopic map, learning speed may dramatically increase and inaccuracies may be caused because homogeneous learning and recognition method should be applied for heterogenous data. Hence, in this paper, a neural net typewriter has been designed using a hierarchical self-organizing classifier(HSOC), and related algorithms are presented. This HSOC, during its learing stage, distributed phoneme data on hierarchically structured multiple phonotopic maps, using Kohonen's self-organizing feature maps(SOFM). Presented and experimented in this paper were the algorithms for deciding the number of maps, map sizes, the selection of phonemes and their placement per map, an approapriate learning and preprocessing method per map. If maps are divided according to a priorlinguistic knowledge, we would have difficulty in acquiring linguistic knowledge and how to alpply it(e.g., processing extended phonemes). Contrarily, our HSOC has an advantage that multiple phonotopic maps suitable for given input data are self-organizable. The resulting three korean phonotopic maps are optimally labelled and have their own optimal preprocessing schemes, and also confirm to the conventional linguistic knowledge.

The selection of classification boundaries in fuzzy rule- based classification systems is an important and difficult problem. So various methods based on learning processes such as neural network, genetic algorithm, and so on have been proposed for it. In a previous study, we pointed out the limitation of the methods and discussed a method for fuzzy partitioning in the overlapped region on feature space in order to overcome the time-consuming when the additional parameters for tuning fuzzy membership functions are necessary. In this paper, we propose a method to determine three types of classification boundaries(i.e., non-overlapping, overlapping, and a boundary point) on the basis of statistical information of the given dataset without learning by extending the method described in the study. Finally, we show the effectiveness of the proposed method through experimental results applied to pattern classification problems using the modified IRIS and standard IRIS datasets.

For Wireless internet service in Metropolitan area, optimum location selection for base station and cell planning are critical process in determining service coverage by accurate prediction of Wave Propagation Characteristics. Due to different kinds of characteristics in service area such as lay of land, natural feature and material, height and width of artificially made building, it has a great impact on the transmission and distance recovery of wireless network service. Therefore, these facts may cause substantial barriers in predicting & analyzing the expected level of service quality and providing it to subscribers. In this thesis, we have simulated the process to improve quality and coverage of the service by adjusting the location of Base station and the antenna angle that influence the service after the basic location of base station is selected according to the wave prediction model. Based on this simulations test, we have demonstrated the results in which subscribers would get higher quality of wireless internet service along with bigger coverage and the improved quality in the same service coverage area through optimization process of base station.
The development of microarray technology has supplied a large volume of data to many fields. In particular, it has been applied to prediction and diagnosis of cancer, so that it expectedly helps us to exactly predict and diagnose cancer. It is essential to efficiently analyze DNA microarray data because the amount of DNA microarray data is usually very large. Since accurate classification of cancer is very important issue for treatment of cancer, it is desirable to make a decision by combining the results of various expert classifiers rather than by depending on the result of only one classifier. Generally combining classifiers gives high performance and high confidence. In spite of many advantages of ensemble classifiers, ensemble with mutually error-correlated classifiers has a limit in the performance. In this paper, we propose the ensemble of neural network classifiers learned from negatively correlated features using three benchmark datasets to precisely classify cancer, and systematically evaluate the performances of the proposed method. Experimental results show that the ensemble classifier with negatively correlated features produces the best recognition rate on the three benchmark datasets.

The integration of blockchain technology with the rapid growth of Internet of Things (IoT) devices has enabled secure and decentralised data exchange. However, security vulnerabilities and performance limitations remain significant challenges in IoT blockchain networks. This work proposes a novel approach that combines transaction representation and machine learning techniques to address these challenges. Various clustering techniques, including k-means, DBSCAN, Gaussian Mixture Models (GMM), and Hierarchical clustering, were employed to effectively group unlabelled transaction data based on their intrinsic characteristics. Anomaly transaction prediction models based on classifiers were then developed using the labelled data. Performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-measure were used to identify the minority class representing specious transactions or security threats. The classifiers were also evaluated on their performance using balanced and unbalanced data. Compared to unbalanced data, balanced data resulted in an overall average improvement of approximately 15.85% in accuracy, 88.76% in precision, 60% in recall, and 74.36% in F1-score. This demonstrates the effectiveness of each classifier as a robust classifier with consistently better predictive performance across various evaluation metrics. Moreover, the k-means and GMM clustering techniques outperformed other techniques in identifying security threats, underscoring the importance of appropriate feature selection and clustering methods. The findings have practical implications for reinforcing security and efficiency in real-world IoT blockchain networks, paving the way for future investigations and advancements.
