  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to research how elder abuse affected the abuse results (self-esteem, depression, somatization) through coping strategies. Method: A convenient sample consisted of 499 subjects from 65 to 85 years old. Data was collected using structured questionnaires from July to August, 2002. The SPSS WIN 10.0 version was used for data analysis. Results: The pathway of elder abuse affecting elder's self-esteem was researched by passive coping, emotional abuse, financial abuse, and physical abuse as the variables that directly affected self-esteem. The pathway of elder abuse affecting elder's depression was researched by passive coping, aggressive coping, verbal abuse, and neglect as the variable that directly affected depression. The pathway of elder abuse affecting somatization was researched by neglect, emotional abuse, and aggressive coping as the variables that directly affected somatization. Conclusion: We should develop a systematized intervention program so that elders can learn positive coping in their abuse circumstance.

  • This study examined the relations between maternal parenting, mother-adolescent conflict, and adolescent individuation with a sample of 271 high school students (156 boys and 115 girls) living in Seoul. Data were analyzed by correlations and regressions. Maternal monitoring, reasoning and affection were positively related to connectedness and separateness, two subscales of adolescent individuation, and maternal over-expectation, intrusiveness, physical abuse and neglect were negatively related to connectedness and separateness. Mother-adolescent conflict was negatively related to connectedness and separateness. Maternal monitoring, reasoning and affection were negatively related to mother-adolescent conflict, and maternal over-expectation, intrusiveness, and physical abuse and neglect were positively related to mother-adolescent conflict. Mother-adolescent conflict played a mediating role between maternal parenting and adolescent individuation.

  • This study sought to investigate the environmental predictors of atopic dermatitis in children. The participants were 1050 (age 3-5) children taken from data data from the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs. A data mining decision tree model revealed that the factors of medical neglect, breakfast, attachment to mother, and mother's depression influenced atopic dermatitis in children. Our results revealed that in the factors considered above, medical neglect had the greatest influence upon atopic dermatitis in children.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the experiential aspects of consumer in the ap-parel buying process especially the affective aspects. An ethnographic approach is a kind of qualitative analysis or naturalistic inquiry be-ing adopted by studies of anthnopology and consumer behavior,. Data were collected via doing participant observation interview field notes and recording for three months from fe-male students of universities in Pusan. Results were as following: First consumers experienced the various kinds of affection in the apparel buying pro-cess such as satisfaction pleasure/refresh-ment interest/attraction pride conspicous-ness impulse neglect prostration anxiety ir-ritation and dispiritedness. Second especially they were felt satis-faction and conspicousness by the atmosphere of store pleasure by the smell of store and impulse by nostalgia in apparel buying process. Also negative affections felt in the process such as neglect prostration anxiety and irri-taton had a great influence to apparel buying behavior. This study was to serve as a pilot study we wished to fortify the methodology of qualitat-ive analysis to identify themes and to de-velop hypothesis for further study.

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest basic data for prevention of child abuse by examining the patterns and characteristics of child abuse observed at child-care centers. Data was collected by pre-service early childhood teachers majoring in child studies in an education practice session from May 1 to May 31, 2015 based on examined information and class discussion. This study shows that emotional abuse was performed most often, followed by neglect and physical abuse. Physical abuse was observed as a form of punishment and beating, whereas emotional abuse was observed in the form of force, sarcastic remarks, verbal attacks, and disregard. Neglect was observed as exclusion and indifference. Most crucial prevention against child abuse lies in teachers' personality education and concerns with their own mental health as well as children's rights education.

  • A new method to neglect the third term of the computational energy expression in the single-layer neural network with feedback is introduced. The system often converges to local minima instead of to global minima, because the computational energy is not matched exactly with the cost function being optimized. One of the factors causing these tow functions different is the third term of computational enegy expression. Regarding this third term energy very small, it is always ignored in designing the system. However, a sthe system growing, this third term energy is also growing and this grown term makes the computational energy function much different from the cost function. In results of differency between two functions, system converges to local minima more than before. In this paper, a new method to neglect te third term energy is introduced, so that the system with tis new method has been imroved.

  • This study was intended to testify nature of mother and daughter-in-laws relation in the low class. In was assumed that it's relationship would be 'neglect' or 'interdependent' for their economic hardship by theoretical review. This study relies onthe qualitative research method in order to approach the most inside of the very complicate and delicate human relationship such as the mother and daughter-in-laws one. The findings showed that mother anddaughter-in-laws relation in low class was 'neglect' or 'conflicting' It was because they live separately and the daughter-in-law is not able to meet the demand from her mother-in-law due to her own economic hardship.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the concept and experience of the elder mistreatment among the elderly. To achieve the purpose of this study, data were collected from 160 elders with family members through questionnaires. The major finding is that the concept on elder mistreatment of the old people is found for the most part psycological abuse or neglect. And, when the degree of family support about the elderly is high, the experience of the elder mistreament appears low. Therefore, family support may be higher to prevent elder mistreatment. Also, social support in the side economical, physical or emotional services may help to bring down the elder's disability contributing to the elder mistreatment.

  • WTO was established in 1995 and as many as 36 new members joined WTO until December 2017. Thus it would be interesting to see if new members have committed higher or lower levels of market opening compared to the original members. In this regard, a sophisticated scoring scheme is needed to quantify market opening commitments. After proper econometric model is established for the original members, same model can be applied to the new members for comparison. It was found that new members committed a much higher level of commitment than the original members. In addition, it was also found that transition economies committed higher levels than the non-transition economies. More interesting finding is that among the new members, the larger the economies or the larger the trading volume are, the closer was the level of commitment to the predicted level. Then the question is whether this difference was due to benign neglect by the new members or due to malign select by the original members.
