Resonance Frequency and Bandwidth of the Negative/Positive nth Mode of a Composite Right-/Left-Handed Transmission Line

  • In this study, the analytic expression for the positive/negative $n^{th}-Mode$ resonance frequency of an N unit cell composite right-/lefthanded (CRLH) transmission line is derived. To explain the resonance mechanism of the $n^{th}$ mode, especially for the negative mode, the current distribution of the N unit cell CRLH transmission line is investigated with a circuit simulation. Results show that both positive and negative $n^{th}$ resonance modes have n times current variations, but their phase difference is $180^{\circ}$ as expected. Moreover, the positive $n^{th}$ resonance occurs at a high frequency, whereas the negative $n^{th}$ resonance transpires at a low frequency, thus indicating that the negative resonance mode can be utilized for a small resonator. The correlation between the slope of the dispersion curve and the bandwidth is also observed. In sum, the balanced condition of the CRLH transmission line provides a broader bandwidth than the unbalanced condition.

An Orthogonally Polarized Negative Resonance CRLH Patch Antenna

  • A novel fully-printed microstrip antenna with negative first resonance and dual polarization is proposed. The radiator is printed on the 1-layer substrate instead of multilayers. The -1st resonance results from a composite right- and left-handed(CRLH) structure that has a circumferentially interlocked gap capacitively coupling a patch with a shorted-ring. This compact antenna is provided with a dual-polarization capability by creating two orthogonal linear polarizations in one body with coaxial feeds. The design is carried out by doing full-wave EM field simulation which is compared with the measurement of the fabricated antenna prototype. The measured results give the gain of 5 dBi and the efficiency of 78% at the -1st resonance mode as the center frequency of a downlink channel of the bandwidth over 20 MHz with 29 dB polarization isolation for mobile communication.

  • An active resonance damper for a DC Distributed Power System(DPS) with parallel loads is presented. Each pulse power load in a DC DPS comprises both a resistive power load and a step-up converter. The step-up converter behave as constant power load(CPL) when tightly regulated and usually cause a negative impedance instability problem. Furthermore, when an input filter is connected to a large constant power load, the instability of DC bus voltage. In this paper, a bidirectional DC/DC converter with a reduced storage capacitor quantitatively are proposed as a active resonance damper, to mitigate the voltage instability on the bus. The validity of the proposed method was confirmed by simulation and experimental works.

Social Media Performance: From the Perspective of Social Media Apathetic Behavior

  • Purpose - Social media platforms have presented individuals with an opportunity to create and maintain their social relationship through the use of social media services. However, such social relationship has a negative influence on users' interest in social media. Design/methodology - Using structural equation modeling, this study seeks to examines the effects of different social media conflicts (individual and social conflicts) on users' psychological internal state, especially user apathetic behavior Findings - The findings confirm that, among social media conflicts, social-related conflict, especially social interaction overload has a negative effect on cognitive resonance, while individual conflict has the highest effect on cognitive dissonance. Also, cognitive dissonance has a much greater effect than cognitive resonance on user resistance, this means that users' negative perception of social media has a greater influence on their resistance. Lastly, user's resistance was found to have a positive influence on user's apathetic behavior. Originality/value - In other to capture social media Apathetic behavior, this study focus on social media conflict perspective, which includes social-related conflict and individual conflict, which are found to influence users' internal states towards social media and further induce social media behavior. This study is unique because it is among the first to explore social media apathetic behavior by focusing on the influence of both external social media conflict and internal state. Also, this study proposed that social related conflict has a higher negative influence on WeChat user than individual related conflict.

POINTWISE BEHAVIOR OF THE POTENTIAL IN ANOMALOUS LOCALIZED RESONANCE: A NUMERICAL STUDY

  • It is discovered in [7] that a dielectric material is coated by a plasmonic material of negative permittivity with dissipation, then cloaking by anomalous localized resonance may occur as the dissipation tends to zero. In this paper, we investigate numerically the pointwise behavior of the potential in the shell when cloaking by anomalous localized resonance (CALR) occurs. By changing locations a dipole source, we can observe some localizing properties of the potential in the shell.

요추 불안정 환자에서 단순방사선 소견과 자기공명영상 소견의 비교 (Comparison of Radiography Findings and Magnetic Resonance Image Findings of Lumbar Spine Instability Patients)

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate how dose the radiography findings are to magnetic resonance (MR) image findings in the L5-S1 instability patients. The subjects of this study were comprised of eleven males and fifteen females, who had Lumbago and agreed with this research. Methods: Radiography and MR images of Lumbar spine were acquired respectively from subjects in conditions of maximum flexion and extension. The horizontal and angular displacements in lumabosacral spine radiography were used to assess the instability of lumbar spine. MR images were also used to evaluate the intervertebral disc abnormalities and change of bone marrow. Results: The results are as follows. 1. In the case of flexion transitional displacement proposed by Dupuis et al, the specificity and negative predictive value were good accuracy ($0.7{\sim}0.8$), and the negative predictive value was in average. In the case of extension displacement, the negative predictive value was about average ($0.6{\sim}0.7$), but the sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive value were below the poor (<0.6). On the other side, the specificity was about average but other things were below in the case of angular displacement. 2. In the case of flexion transitional displacement proposed by Dupuis et al., compared with the intervertebral disc abnormalities, the negative prediction value was excellent, the sensitivity good, and the specificity about average. In the case of extension, the negative prediction value was about average, but the other things were poor. On the other side the specificity and negative predictive value had good accuracy and the sensitivity and positive prediction value were below average in the case of angular displacement. Conclusion: The above results show that the radiography finding is sufficiently helpful to find the lumbar spine instability as an economic point of view.

기생패치를 이용한 소형 뮤-제로 영차공진 안테나 (Small Mu-Zero Zeroth Order Resonance Antenna with Parasitic Patch)

  • 본 논문에서는 5.8 GHz에서 동작하는 기생패치를 이용한 소형 메타구조 기반의 뮤-제로 영차공진 안테나를 제안한다. 제안된 안테나는 뮤-네거티브(MNG: Mu-negative) 전송선로의 직렬 인덕턴스와 커패시턴스를 사용하는 뮤-제로 영차공진 안테나이며, 간단한 구조의 기생패치를 추가함으로써 직렬 커패시턴스를 증가시켜 소형화 하였다. 추가된 기생패치는 기존의 직렬 커패시턴스에 추가적인 병렬로 커패시턴스를 만들어 공진 주파수를 결정하는 직렬 커패시턴스를 등가적으로 증가시킨다. 기생패치는 HFSS를 이용한 모의실험을 통하여 최적화되었다. 제안된 안테나는 0.59의 kr값을 가지며, 기존 뮤-제로 영차공진 안테나 크기 대비 24 % 소형화 되었으며, 92 %의 효율과 6.57 dBi의 이득을 보였다. 최종 설계된 안테나는 제작 및 측정되었으며, 측정 결과는 모의실험 결과와 잘 일치함을 확인하였다.

공진 자이로의 재평형 모드 구현과 각속도 측정 실험 (Force-To-Rebalance Mode of a Resonator Gyro and Angular Rate Measurement Tests)

  • This article focuses on a hemispherical resonator gyro driven by the Coriolis effect. A hemispherical shell, called a resonator, is maintained in the resonance state by amplitude control and phase locking control. Parametric excitation has been used to control the amplitude. For rate measurement mode or FTR mode, nodal points have been kept to an amplitude of zero. Angular rate measurement has been demonstrated by rotating a resonator. Frequency mismatch between two stiffness principal axes is a major cause of low performance: vibrating pattern drift and reduced control effectiveness. This mismatch has been reduced significantly by the addition of small mass. A negative spring effect, which lowers resonance frequencies, has been verified experimentally.

확장된 대역폭을 갖는 소형 Epsilon Negative ZOR 안테나 (Small Epsilon Negative ZOR Antenna with Improved Bandwidth)

  • 본 논문에서는 확장된 대역폭을 갖는 소형 epsilon negative(ENG) zeroth-order resonance(ZOR) 안테나를 제안하였다. 대역폭을 유지하고 ENG ZOR 안테나의 면적을 줄이기 위해서 안테나 패치 위에 패턴을 새겼고 meandered via를 삽입함으로써 매우 큰 병렬 인덕턴스를 발생시켰다. 동일한 면적, 공진 주파수에서 동작하는 ENG ZOR 안테나에 직선 via 대신 meandered via를 삽입하게 되면 유효 유전율의 분포의 기울기가 공진 주파수 근방에서 더 낮아지고 따라서 대역폭은 넓어진다. 결과적으로 제안한 meandered via를 가진 ENG ZOR 안테나는 직선 via를 가진 나선 구조 ENG ZOR 안테나와 동일한 면적을 가짐에도 불구하고 1.38배의 대역폭을 가지고 있는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, meandered via를 가진 ENG ZOR 안테나는 일반적인 mushroom ZOR 안테나보다 64 %의 면적감소를 보였다.

Invasive Lobular Carcinoma: MRI Features and Clinicohistological Characteristics According to the ER, PR, and HER2 Statuses

  • Purpose: To investigate correlations of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and human epidermal growth factor receptor type 2 (HER2) statuses with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features and clinicohistological characteristics in patients with invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC). Materials and Methods: Data from 64 histologically confirmed ILCs were analyzed retrospectively. Preoperative breast MRI was reviewed for morphology and dynamic contrast-enhanced kinetics of the tumor. Pathologic reports were reviewed for ER, PR, and HER2 positivity, tumor size, lymph node metastasis, and the number of metastatic lymph nodes. Furthermore, there was an investigation of the MRI features and clinicohistologic characteristics, according to the ER, PR, and HER2 statuses. Results: A significant difference in MRI features and clinicohistological tumor characteristics were observed only in relation to PR status. Of the 64 ILCs, 10 (15.6%) were PR negative. PR negative cancers, compared with PR positive cancers, were more likely to present as non-mass enhancement (P = 0.027); have a significantly larger mean tumor size ($5.00{\pm}1.05cm$ vs. $2.57{\pm}0.21cm$, P = 0.021); and have significantly more metastatic lymph nodes (P = 0.010). Conclusion: PR negative ILC presented more frequently as non-mass enhancement on MRI, with larger tumors and increased numbers of metastatic lymph nodes. Therefore, the PR status plays an important role in determining MRI features and clinicohistological characteristics of ILC.
