A study on experimental method of the model test for the impulse turbine is carried out. the wave simulator is used to reproduce the real wave condition. It controls two parameter correspond to wave height and wave frequency. The optimum design which is reported by T. Setoguchi is manufactured and tested for the validation of our test facilities. The comparison of model test show that our facilities produce little bit higher efficiency at maximum efficiency point. To increase the efficiency of turbine, the new rotor with negative tip clearance is designed and being tested.

A toxoplasmic uveitis case was reported on the focus of impairment of pathological findings and serological antibody titers after chemotherapy. A chief complaint of a 60-year-old male was a decreased and blurred vision in his right eye for 2 weeks after experiencing tremendous stress and fatigue. A steroid therapy for 3 weeks was not effective and the retinal lesion became necrotic. Anti-Toxoplasma gondii antibody titer was checked to be a strong positive by both ELISA and indirect latex agglutination assay (lLA). He was treated with Fansidar F for 8 weeks. His vision improved as the necrotic lesion healed by scarring, but the antibody titers still remained very high without any signs of negative conversion. It is suggested to be a recurrent case of the past asymptomatic infection by presumed immune suppression caused by excessive stress.

It is limited to decrease height or section even by system conversion to indeterminate structure - continuous beam - in existing PSC girder bridges. In this study, the movement of connection is analyzed through actual field test, by increasing stiffness of negative moment area in continuous PSC bridge and developing continuous PSC bridge with embedded steel plate, that can overcome the demerit of existing connection. As a result, it is confirmed that the body unification of the connection is being realized and maintained. Moreover, the height of a span is suggested in continuous PSC girder bridge with embedded steel plate by computational analysis

We have studied polarity effects of dielectric anisotropy effects on electro-optical characteristics of a twisted nematic mode driven by fringe electric field, which has wide viewing angle characteristics. Our device is designed as normally black mode between parallel polarizers. The perfect polarization conversion of incident light, which passes through a polarizer, is achieved, when it passes through the twisted liquid crystal (LC) layer. If an electric field is applied, the LC molecules with a positive (or negative) dielectric anisotropy rotate parallel (or perpendicular) to the horizontal component of a fringe electric field as increasing transmittance. From the calculated results, enhanced transmittance of the fringe field-twisted nematic (FF-TN) mode with positive dielectric anisotropy of + 8.2 can be obtained.

P. savastanoi BCNU 106 균주에의해 cholesterol 이 전환됨을 확인하였고 toluene에서보다는 p-xylene 에서 전환율이 높음을 관찰할 수 있었다. 또 균주 배양후 cholesterol이 녹아있는 유기용매를 첨가하였을 때가 전환율이 높음을 확인 할 수 있었다

Fuel cells are electrochemical devices that convert the chemical reaction energy directly into the electrical energy. In a typical fuel cell, gaseous fuel is fed continuously to the anode(negative electrode) compartment and the oxidant(i.e, oxygen from air) is fed continuously to the cathode(positive electrode) compartment; the electrochemical reactions take place at the electrodes to produce an electric current. Many of the operational characteristics of fuel cell systems are superior to those of conventional power generation system because of good efficiency, environmental protection, safty, modularity etc. From those reasons, the fuel cells are considered to be the solution to the future problem of energy conversion. The objective of this paper is to introduce the technical status of fuel cell technologies and our national project for the development of the phosporic acid fuel cell.

A gate-turn-off thyristor (GTO) that has a fuction of self-commutation is a device that can be turned on like a thyristor with a single pulse of gate current and turned-off by injecting a negative gate current pulse. GTOs have been in existence almost from the beginning of thyristor era, recently are these devices being developed with large power-handling capabilities and improved performance, and they are gaining popularity In conversion equipment. In this paper, the effects of internal parameters of GTO model using a circuit containing two transistors and three resistors the switching operation and the turn-off snubber characteristics is investigated using SPICE program.

This paper has done a three-dimensional FEM analysis of the PM claw pole stepping motor. As magnetization happens in the z-axis, which does not have a constant value, three-dimensional FEM analysis is necessary for characteristic analysis of PM claw pole stepping motors. Because it is a type of permanent magnet motor, the PM claw pole stepping motor naturally has a detent torque. This torque is known to show negative effects on motor performance. To improve motor performance, reducing the detent torque is very important during the motor design. This paper applied DOE for optimization of stator pole design of the motor. Also, we compared motor performance by applying a different type of rotor shape, dividing the permanent magnet. To verify the simulation results, an experiment was done.

Antimicrobial activities of aucubin, an iridoid glycoside, were investigated. Gram-positive bacterium, S. aureus appeared to be more sensitive to aucubin's aglucone, aucubigenin than Gram-negative, E. coli did. Antimicrobial activities produced by aucubigenin may result in part from the inhibition of RNA and protein biosyntheses in bacterial cells. The conversion of aucubin iridoid glycoside into aucubigenin, an aglucone, appears to be a prerequisite step to exhibit the antimicrobial activities.

The synthesis and physicochemical properties of a novel cephalosporin, DWC-751 are described. DWC -751, (6R , 7R)-7-[ (Z)-2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-2- methoxyiminoacetamido]-3-[(1-methylbenzotriazol-3-ium) methyl]-ceph-3-em-4-carboxylate monosulfate($IV_{\alpha}$) was conveniently obtained by the conversion of compound (IV) into the crystalline monosulfate. Adjusting pH 4.8-5.2 in aqeous solution of the crude crystalline, compound(IV) in the form of a crystalline pentahydrate was prepared with a high degree of purity. The influence of the various organic and inorganic acids on the solubility of compoud(IV) and its salts, was examined. Particularly, the solubility of DWC-751 was 92 mg/mι at pH 1.7 and 233 mg/mι at pH 3.0. DWC-751 showed a broad antimicrobial spectrum against gram-positive and negative bacteria.
