Event Valence Matters: Investigating the Moderating Role of Event Valence on Event Markers' Systematic Effect

  • Previous research has revealed that people feel past target events are more distant when they recall more intervening events, event markers, that are both accessible in memory and perceived to be related to that target event (Zauberman, Levav, Diehl, and Bhargave 2010). This phenomenon was called the systematic effect of event markers (SEEM). In this research, we explore the moderating effect of the valence of the target event on SEEM and suggest the difficulty of recalling event markers as the possible mechanism. Study 1 shows that SEEM mainly occur when the valence of the target event is negative rather than positive. Study 2 showed that even though people have more difficulty recalling four event markers than one regardless of event valence, the difficulty of recalling event markers only mediates SEEM when the target event valence is negative. Furthermore, when the target event is positive, SEEM does not exist, confirming that the mediating role of the difficulty of recalling event markers on SEEM is moderated by the valence of the target event.

  • This research investigates the effect of the antecedents (i.e. specific investment, opportunistic behavior, communications, uncertainty, interdependence, power imbalance, shared value, and flexibility) that influence the trust and commitment of domestic apparel manufacturers toward contractors as well as the effect of trust and commitment on firm performance and relationship satisfaction. A total of 128 apparel manufactures participated in this study. Factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and path analysis were conducted for the statistical analysis. Specific investment, communication, shared value, and flexibility had a positive effect on trust; however, opportunistic behavior had a negative effect. Interdependence, shared value, and flexibility had a positive effect on commitment; however, power imbalance and uncertainty had a negative effect. Trust did not exert an effect on commitment in this research; however, trust and commitment had a positive effect on firm performance; in addition, trust and commitment had a positive effect on relationship satisfaction. The findings offer insight on how to better manage apparel manufacturer-contractor relationships to ensure success.

  • This study investigates i) the effect of salesperson's self efficacy and work overload on emotional labor and ii) the mediating role of emotion. A survey questionnaire is developed and implemented on salespersons working in the fashion retail stores of department stores. The measurement scales are composed of emotional labor, self efficacy, work overload and emotion. A total of 112 responses are analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis and a structural equation model with AMOS18.0. The results are as follows. Firstly, self efficacy has direct effect on both deep acting and surface acting of emotional labor without the mediating effect of emotion. Self efficacy has a positive effect on deep acting. Secondly, work overload has a negative effect on emotion. Job emotion has positive effect on deep acting and it has a negative effect on surface acting. Thirdly, emotion has a significant mediating effect between work overload and emotional labor. Finally, implications for personal management and job design in the fashion retail organizations are suggested.

레스토랑의 안전성이 신뢰, 불안, 만족 그리고 재방문 의도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Restaurant's Safety on Trust, Anxiety, Satisfaction and Revisit Intention)

  • Purpose: Most people are worried about contracting COVID-19, which in turn increases anxiety that they may have contracted COVID-19. Therefore, this study examines the effect of restaurant safety consisting of hygiene, store management, and countermeasure on trust, anxiety, satisfaction, and revisit intention. Research design, data and methodology: The data were collected from 537 consumers who had experiences of visiting a restaurant within the last 2 months and analyzed with SPSS 28.0 and SmartPLS 4.0 programs. Result: The hygiene, management, and countermeasure had a significant positive (+) effect on trust. Restaurant hygiene was found to have a significant negative (-) effect on anxiety, but countermeasure had a significant positive (+) effect on anxiety. Meanwhile, management did not appear to have a significant effect on anxiety. Trust was found to have a significant positive (+) effect on satisfaction and revisit intention. Anxiety was found to have a significant negative (-) effect on satisfaction but had no significant effect on revisit intention. Finally, satisfaction was found to have a significant positive (+) effect on revisit intention. Conclusions: As a result of the study, this study explained the safety of restaurants in the COVID-19 pandemic environment through the protective motivation theory.

작업기억 부담이 부적 얼굴정서 처리에 미치는 영향: ERP 연구 (Effects of Working Memory Load on Negative Facial Emotion Processing: an ERP study)

  • 작업기억 부담이 부적 얼굴정서 처리에 미치는 영향을 밝히기 위해, N-back 과제 수행 도중 제시된 부적 얼굴표정에 의해 유발된 ERP성분들을 조사하였다. 한 개씩 순차적으로 제시되는 시각적 사물그림들에 대한 기억을 유지하고 갱신하도록 요구하면서(N-back 과제) 이 사물그림들이 제시되는 사이에 공포표정 또는 중립표정의 얼굴자극을 하나씩 제시하였는데, 작업기억 부담을 0-back 조건(저부담)과 2-back 조건(고부담)으로 조작하였다. N-back과제 수행반응을 분석한 결과, 고부담조건에 비해 저부담조건에서 더 빠르고 정확한 반응이 관찰되었다. 얼굴자극에 의해 유발된 ERP 평균진폭을 분석한 결과, 후두영역에서 측정한 P1 진폭에서는 정서가효과는 유의미하지 않았고 작업기억 부담효과만 유의미하였다(고부담 > 저부담). 후측 후두-측두 영역에서 측정한 N170 진폭에서 얼굴 정서가효과는 전반적으로는 유의미하였지만(부정 > 중립) 세부적으로는 작업기억부담과 반구에 따라 다르게 나타났는데, 정서가효과가 좌반구에서는 저부담조건의 경우에만, 우반구에서는 두 부담조건 모두에서 관찰되었다. 결국, 얼굴표정의 부적 정서가가 N170에 미치는 영향이 좌반구에서는 작업기억 부담에 의해 조절되었지만 우반구에서는 그렇지 않았다. 이러한 결과는, 부적 얼굴 표정의 초기 정서처리가 작업기억의 유지 및 조작 부담이 큰 경우 좌반구에서는 약화되거나 일어나지 않을 수 있는 반면, 우반구에서는 작업기억 부담의 크기에 관계없이 일어남을 보여주는 것으로써, 부적 얼굴정서 처리의 우반구 편재를 시사한다.

코스닥기업의 제3자 배정 증자가 주가에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Allocation to Third Parties in Increase of Capital on Stock Price of KOSDAQ Firms)

  • 본 연구는 2007년 1월부터 2009년 12월까지 3년간 코스닥기업의 유상증자 형태 중 제3자 배정을 통해 대금을 납입한 81개 기업 197건에 대하여 사건연구를 통해 납입 전, 후의 주가반응을 비교분석하였고, 더 나아가 누적초과수익률에 영향을 미치는 요인이 무엇인지를 다중회귀분석을 통해 파악하였다 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, (-5, +5) 초과수익률은 납입일 5일전부터 1일전까지 1% 수준에서 유의적인 정(+)의 초과수익률을 보이는 것으로 나타났고, 사건일인 납입 일에는 유의적인 초과수익률이 존재하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 납입일 이후 5일 동안은 1% 유의수준에서 부(-)의 초과수익률을 보였다. 둘째, 납입일 전, 후 40일간(-40, +40)의 초과수익률은 납입일 전 40일 동안 1% 수준에서 유의적인 정(+)의 초과수익률을 나타냈으며, 납입일 이후 40일 동안 1% 수준에서 유의적인 부(-)의 초과수익률을 보였다. 셋째, 납입일 이후 1년간(0, 1년)의 초과수익률은 1% 수준에서 유의적인 부(-)의 초과수익률을 보였다. 넷째, (-5, +5)까지의 누적초과수익률에 영향을 미치는 요인은 기업규모로 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤으며, 10% 유의수준에서 유의적이었다. 유보율과 부채비율은 (-40, +40)의 누적초과수익률에 10% 유의수준에서 유의적으로 각각 정(+)과 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. (0, 1년)의 누적초과수익률에 영향을 미치는 요인은 기업규모, 부채비율, 대주주지분율은 각각 1%, 5%, 10% 유의수준에서 유의적인 부(-)의 영향을, 유보율은 1% 유의수준에서 유의적으로 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

Effects of Political Campaign Materials on Party and Non-Party Voting Supporters

  • Political parties would normally claim that their campaign and communication materials have effects on voters, be it on their supporters or their opponents during election campaigns. However, such effects are assumed effects by the parties unless voters are themselves assessed about the effects of such materials on themselves. The supporters of the parties are likely to regard such campaign materials as congenial to them but this may not be so with the opposition supporters who would regard such materials as negative. Taking the third-person effect to analyze effects on the audience as the theoretical framework, this study posited that opposition members would regard the materials as negative and thus would claim that they would not have any effect on them but they would likely say that such campaign materials would have effects on own party supporters. Davison (1983) posited that individuals will perceive that negative mediated messages would have their greatest impact not "on me" or "you" but on "them,"- the third person. Research suggests that people judge others to be more influenced than they are by media, advertising, libelous messages, media violence, pornography, and television drama. The theory referred to as the Third-person effect developed on the postulation that audience members would not admit that media had any direct effect on them, but would instead believe that the media influenced others, the third person (Tewksbury, Moy, & Weis, 2004; Price, Tewksbury, & Huang, 1998). On the other hand, while people would discount the effects of negative or biased messages on themselves, they would, under the notion of the First Person Effect, readily admit to being influenced by such messages. This study was based on studying the effects of political literature on party and opposition party supporters taking the messages to be positive to one group and biased and partisan to another group. The study focuses on the assumed effects of political literature on own party and opposition party supporters. It traces the degree of influence of Malaysia's largest political party, Barisan Nasional (BN) political communication literature on its own supporters and on non-BN party supporters. While the third-person effect assumes a null or minimal effect on one's self and some or strong effect on others, the question that arises are on welcoming favorable media effects on oneself and assuming unfavorable effects on others.

  • 불균형 일원 변량모형에서 AOV추정량과 사전값이 0, 1, ${\infty}$인 MINQUE에 국한하여 정규분포를 가정할 때 분산성분의 추정량이 음이 될 이론적 확률을 구하고, 비정규분포에 대해서는 모의실험을 통해 추정량이 음이 될 확률을 구하였다. 이 때 정차분포에서의 이론적 확률과 모의실험에 의해 계산된 확률간에 유의한 차이가 없고 표본수, 수준수 그리고 ${\rho}$가 커지면 각 추정량은 음이 될 확률이 작아지며, 고려된 추정량 중에서 AOV추정량이 대부분의 경우에 음이 될 확률이 가장 작게 나타났다.

Physical and numerical modeling of drag load development on a model end-bearing pile

  • A centrifuge model study is carried out to investigate the behavior of pile subject to negative skin friction induced by pile installation, ground water drawdown and surcharge loading. A single end-bearing pile is examined as the induced negative skin friction would induce the most severe stress on the pile structural material as compared to friction piles. In addition, the behavior of the pile under simultaneous negative skin friction and dead/live loads is examined. To facilitate detailed interpretations of the test results, the model setup is extensively instrumented and involves elaborate test control schemes. To further examine the phenomenon of negative skin friction on an end-bearing pile, finite element analyses were conducted. The numerical analysis is first validated against the centrifuge test data and subsequently extended to examine the effects of pile slenderness ratio, surcharge intensity and pile-soil stiffness ratio on the degree of mobilization of negative skin friction induced on the pile. Finally experimental and numerical studies are conducted to examine the effect of applied transient live load on pile subject to negative skin friction.

층상대지의 음수 유도분극 응답 (Negative Induced Polarization Responses over a Layered Earth)

  • 3층 구조 대지의 음수 유도분극 반응을 디지탈 선형 필터법으로 구하여 검토하였다. 음수의 유도분극 반응은 전기비저항 구조가 K니 Q형일 때 나타나며, K형 구조의 경우 Q형보다 더 뚜렷한 음수의 반응을 보여 준다. 이러한 구조일 때, 유도분극 계수는 전기비저항 분포와 전극 배치의 함수로 주어지며, 표층의 계수만이 음수의 값을 가질 수 있다. 따라서 음수의 유도분극 반응은 표층이 분극성일 때 생길 가능성이 있으며, 그 외의 층의 분극성은 오히려 음수의 유도분극 반응을 줄이는 역할을 한다.
