  • Pb(Zr,Ti)$O_3$ (PZT) based ceramics with superior piezoelectric properties have been extensively used in various domestic and industrial appliances. However, PZT ceramics causing environmental contamination and health problems need to be eventually replaced by any of Pb-free materials. $(Na_{0.53}K_{0.47})(Nb_{1-x}Ta_x)O_3$ (NKNT), one of Pb-free piezoelectric ceramics, has long been known but its properties are not fully understood and developed. In this study, dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Pb-free NKNT ceramics were studied with Ta substitution for B-site at x = 0~0.6. It was found that polymorphic phase transition (PPT) between orthorhombic and tetragonal phases was notably influenced by Ta substitution. The highest piezoelectric coefficient ($d_{33}$) of 284 pC/N was occurred at x = 0.45.

  • Polycrystalline samples of $(Ru_{0.8}Nb_{0.2})Sr_2(Gd_{1.5-x}Nd_xCe_{0.5})Cu_2O_z$($ 0{\leq}x{\leq}1.25$) have been synthesized by a solid-state reaction route. The X-ray diffraction data revealed that the Nd solubility limit can be placed between x=0.5 and x=0.75. The superconducting transition temperature decreased with increasing Nd content, confirming that Nd entered the lattice. Room-temperature thermoelectric power measurements showed that all the samples are in the underdoped state and the partial substitution of Nd for Gd resulted in a decrease in the carrier density on the superconducting layers.

  • Pb(Zr, Ti)O3-Pb(Co, Nb)O3 systems were investigated by x-ray diffraction method. System contains rhombohedral, tetragonal, and pseudocubic structures at room temperature. Crystal symmetry was changed from 4-fold symmetry to 3-fold symmetry by substituting Pb(Co1/3, Nb2/3)O3 ; PCN, to Pb(Zr0.52, Ti0.48)O3 ; PZT. As the substituted PCN concentration was increased, an increase in a-axis direction and a decrease in c-axis in the perovskite structure were occurred simultaneously, so that the crystal symmetry was changed into such way. In the higher sinteringtemperatures, the unit cell distortions occurred rather in the lower substitution range of PCN. The ferroelectric properties were maximized at the region that tetragonal and rhombohedral or pseudocubic structures were coexist.

  • In this study, the dielectric properties of $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbTiO_3$ Ceramics have been investigated as a addition of the amount of $MnO_2(0{\leq}x{\leq}0.9wt%)$. The Temperature-dependant dielectric characteristics of 0.9PMN-0.1PT relaxor ferroelectric system were improved by enhencing the extent of the diffuse phase transition(DPT). The maximum dielectric permittivity decreased by substitution $MnO_2$ and the dielectric loss decreased with increasing $MnO_2$ substitution amount. It is expected decreasing in inner heat energy for temperature with increasing $MnO_2$ substitution.

  • In this paper, the electrical and dielectrical properties were investigated in Pb(Zr,Ti)O$_3$-Pb(Mn,Nb)O$_3$ ceramics which are manufactured with the substitution of Ba in site Pb. In older to increase the del and Kp , Ba was substitued to site Pb from 0 to 0.1 by 0.02 mol%. As the Ba substitution is increased, dielectric constant is increased and electricmachanical coupling factor showed the maximum value at Ba 0.06mol% and the mechanical qualify factor is decreased and the tetragonality and the grain size are decreased as the Ba substitution.

  • It this paper, the piezoelectric and electro-induced strain properties of (P $b_{1-}$2x/3/B $i_{x}$ )[N $i_{1}$3/N $b_{2}$3/)$_{0.4}$( $Ti_{0.6}$Z $r_{0.4}$)$_{0.6}$] $O_3$ceramics (x=0, 0.005, 0.02) were investigated with the substitution of B $i^{3+}$, and the feasibility of the application for bimorph actuator was evaluated by measuring the dynamic properties of the piezoelectric bimorph fabricated with above ceramics. Dielectric constant was enhanced with the increase of B $i^{3+}$ substitution, and appeared the maximum value of 5032 at x=0.01 composition. Increasing the substitution of B $i^{3+}$, the electromechanical coefficient( $k_{p}$ , $k_{31}$ ) was increased up to the substitution of 0.5 mol% B $i^{3+}$, showed the value of 0.656, 0.439, respectively. The piezoelectric constant( $d_{33}$ $d_{31}$ ) had the highest value of 344, 825 with the substitution of 0.5 mol% B $i^{3+}$. The strain, generated by 60 Hz AC electric field, had the largest value of 1200($\times$10$^{-6}$ $\Delta$1/1) in the composition with the substitution of 0.5 mol% B $i^{3+}$. The dynamic properties of the bimorph actuator, fabricated with the composition substitution of 0.5 mol% B $i^{3+}$, showed the largest value of 325 $\mu$m at $\pm$150 V square pulse. square pulse.are pulse..

  • While sintering the Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3-BaTiO3 system through solid-reaction route, pyrochlore(Pb3Nb4O13) phase while reduces the dielectric constant is inevitably formed. Substitution of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 with PbTiO3 and BaTiO3 can retard the occurrence of pyrochlore phase. The perovskite solid-solution without containing pyrochlore phase can be obtained when we consolidated the materials consisting of PbTiO3 and BaTiO3 at 1200℃ for 2 hours. The sintered body composed of 0.8Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.1PbTiO3-0.1BaTiO3 composition showed the diffused phase transition(DPT) phenomena and the maximum value of dielectric constant at 0℃ (Tc') with the value of 1.3×104.

  • In this study, in order to develop low temperature sintering piezoelectric ceramics for LTCC (Low-Temperature Cofired Ceramic) multilayer piezoelectric actuator, PMW-PMN-PZT ceramics using $0.2wt%\; Li_2CO_3$ and $0.25wt%\;CaCO_3$ as sintering aids were investigated according to the varation of PMW substution. Composition ceramics could be sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ by adding sintering aids. As the amount of PMW substitution increased, the crystal structure of PMW-PMN-PZT ceramics moved from tetragonal phase to rhombohedral phase gradually, and MPB(Morphotrophic Phase Boundary) region appeared at 2 mol% PMW substitution. At the sintering temperature of $900^{\circ}C$, the density, electromechanical coupling factor(kp), mechanical quality factor(Qm), dielectric constant(${\epsilon}r$), piezoelectric constant(d33) and Curie temperature(Tc) of 2 mol% PMW substituted PMW-PMN-PZT ceramics showed the optimal values of $7.88g/cm^3$, 0.58, 1002, 1264, 352 pC/N and $336^{\circ}C$, respectively, for LTCC multilayer piezoelectric actuator application.

  • Investigations of crystal structure and phase transition of $Pb(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_3$ ceramics doped with A-site substitution impurity (La, Nd) or B-site substitution impurity (Sb, Nb) at 2 mol% concentration were carried out. X-ray diffraction patterns of impurities doped $Pb(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_3$ ceramics have been measured at pressures up to ~5 GPa with diamond anvil cell and synchrotron radiation. The patterns were obtained at room temperature using methanol-ethanol mixture as pressure-transmitting media. In order to refine the crystal structure, Rietveld analysis has been performed. The structures of impurities doped $Pb(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_3$ ceramics are tetragonal in space group P4mm at ambient pressure and are transformed into a cubic phase in space group Pm$\bar{3}$m as the pressure increases. In this study, when A-site substitution donor $La^{3+}$ or $Nd^{3+}$ ion was added to $Pb(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_3$ ceramics, the phase transition phenomena showed up at the pressure of 2.5~4.6 GPa, but when B-site substitution donor $Nb^{5+}$ or $Sb^{5+}$ ion was added to it, the phase transition appeared at relatively lower pressure of 1.7~2.6 GPa.

Ba 치환에 따른 PMW-PNN-PZT 세라믹스의 압전 및 전계유기왜형 특성 (Piezoelectric and Electric Field Induced Strain Properties of PMW-PNN-PZT Ceramics with the Substitution of Ba)

  • To develop the piezoelectric actuator, the structural, dielectric and piezoelectric properties and electric fieldinduced strain of the ceramics(Pb$\_$1-2/Ba$\_$x/)[Mg$\_$1/2/W$\_$1/2/)$\_$0.03/-Ni$\_$1/3/Nb$\_$2/3/)$\_$0.12/-(Zr$\_$0.5/Ti$\_$0.5/)$\_$0.85/]O$_3$(x=0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, 0.1) were investigated with the substitution of Ba. The tetragonality of crystal structure and grain size decreased by the substitution of Ba. Curie temperature decreased due to the decrease of the tetragonality, and dielectric constants increased with the substitution of Ba. The coercive field, remnant polarization and electromechanical coupling factor also decreased, whereas the piezoelectric constatns d$\_$33/ and d$\_$31/ were showed the highest value of 430 and 209(x10$\^$-12/C/N), respectively, because of the increase of dielectric constant. The strain induced by 60Hz AC electric field had the maximum value of 204x10$\^$-6/Δℓ/ℓ at the substitution of Ba 3mol%. As the applied electric field approaches to the coercive field, the piezoelectric element is depolarized and the electric field induced strain revealed non-linearity.
