지리산국립공원 자연관찰로 이용행태와 만족도에 관한 연구 (Visitors' Behavior and Their Satisfaction on Nature Trails in Mt. Jiri National Park)

  • 본 연구는 지리산국립공원 자연관찰로의 효율적인 관리를 위한 기초정보를 제공하기 위해 자연관찰로 이용자를 대상으로 한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 이용자들의 사회경제적 특성은 다른 국립공원 방문객을 대상으로 한 기존의 연구결과와 유사한 것으로 나타났다. 자연관찰로에 대한 정보에 대해서는 응답자의 44.4%와 22.6%가 각각 다른 이용자와 공원 안내판을 이용하는 것으로 분석되었다. 유평과 하동 지역은 응답자의 대부분이 가족과 함께 방문하였으나 중산리와 백무동 지역은 단체관광의 비율이 가장 높게 나타났다. 자연관찰로 방문의 주된 목적은 지역별로 다르게 나타났는데 유평과 하동 지역은 도시로부터 벗어나기 위함이었고 중산리와 백무동 지역은 하이킹과 등산을 즐기기 위해서였다. 전체 응답자의 63.7%는 자연관찰로의 길이가 적당하다고 응답하였으나 40% 정도의 응답자는 자연관찰로의 길이는 2km 이하가 적당한 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 전체 응답자의 37.5%가 자연해설프로그램을 체험할 수 있는 다른 프로그램에 참여하기를 희망하고 있는 것으로 나타나 지리산국립공원 자연관찰로의 기능증진이 강구되어야 할 것으로 나타났다.

2009 개정 교육과정에 의한 융합형 과학이 학생들의 과학의 본성과 STS에 대한 견해, 과학에 대한 흥미 및 포부에 미치는 영향 (The Influences of Integrated Science Developed Under the 2009 Revised National Curriculum on Students' Views on Nature of Science and Science-Technology-Society Relationship, Interest in Science, and Science Aspiration)

  • 이 연구에서는 2009 개정 교육과정에 의한 융합형 과학의 효과를 실증적으로 조사하기 위하여, 융합형 과학이 고등학교 1학년 학생들의 과학의 본성(NOS)과 STS에 대한 견해, 과학에 대한 흥미와 포부에 미친 영향을 조사하였다. 연구 대상은 서울특별시 소재 고등학교 1학년 학생 214명으로, 융합형 과학 이수 전후에 검사를 실시하였다. 분석결과, NOS에 대한 견해 점수는 융합형 과학의 이수 전후에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 없었다. 그러나 NOS의 하위영역인 과학 지식의 임시성과 상상력의 사용의 경우에는 이수 후 검사 점수가 이수 전검사 점수에 비해 유의미하게 낮았다. STS에 대한 견해나 과학에 대한 흥미 및 포부에서는 융합형 과학 이수 전후의 검사 점수에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 없었다. 이는 융합형 과학 이수가 학생들의 NOS와 STS에 대한 견해, 과학에 대한 흥미와 포부를 향상시키지 못하였음을 의미한다. 이에 대한 교육적 함의를 논의하였다.

기술적 진화재의 대체모형 (A Substitution Model of the Evolutionary Generations of Technological Products)

  • In this study, a substitution model of the evolutionary generations of technological products is presented. The purpose of the model is to examine the demand side mechanisms which generate successive product life cycles along the path of technological improvements. In the model, the nature of substitution processes is summarized dto the demand function which is derived from the consumer's udtility maximization problem. To describe the nature of technological substitution processes, the concept of the vertical differentiation and the consumption externalities are considered in the utility function. The former is used to characterize the result of technological improvement and the latter is used in explaining the inertia of demand. To show the validity of the model, an empirical study is carried out using the data of the world DRAM market.

공공가정론의 철학적 제문제에 관한 고찰 (A Study on Philosophical Issuse in Institutional Household Study)

  • This paper delves into philosophical aspects of institutional household(IH) study. The paper argues that it is also necessary to investigate theoretical, methodological, and philosophical issues, not only prescriptive, practical, and managerial ones, in order to establish a field of study as an independent area of academic discipline. In that sense the paper is expected to contribute to the establishment of "the science of IH" as well as the growth of knowledge in that field. For philosophical discussions, the paper first reviews overall sub-fields of philosophy of science such as ontology, epistemology, methodology, and the debate on human nature. Then, it focuses on philosophical issues relating to the nature of IH including (1) the substance of institutional household as scientific investigation, (2) the epistemological basis of IH study, (3) the possibility of normal methodology in studying IH, (4) the values that IH ought to pursue, and (5) the rationale and autonomy of IH study. In the conclusion section, the paper discusses why the study on philosophical aspects in IH is critical in academic community of family resource management.anagement.

A Plant Breeder's View on H5N1

  • International conferences to block the spread of Avian bird flu occurred in Beijing, 2006 and others warned of the seriousness of the H5N1 strain. The meetings succeeded in generating billions of dollars from USA, EU and World Bank. Migratory birds seem to play a major role in the spread of the aggressive strain globally from Asia to Europe and Africa. Experiences of tolerance breeding of maize (Zea mays L.) for four decades against 20 biotic stresses suggest that the prime cause of the occurrence of H5N1 strain was due to the human beings' counter-efforts against nature. Excessive use of chemicals (spray and injection) in the commercial poultry farms had created high selection pressure on virus. The new strain had mutated for survival. Attempting to eliminate the virus by chemicals for 100% control is a dangerous way to control biotic stresses. This can create more aggressive strains. A solution would be to build up tolerability of the commercial animals against the virus. Improvement of poultry cage environments and respect for nature must be integrated. Potential foes must be watched.

Temperature Effect on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Angelica acutilobu

  • Special objective of this study is to investigate morphological characteristics of seeds and effects of environmental factors such as light and temperature on their germination and seedling growth of Angelica acutilobu in Umbelliferae plants, using them as oriental medicine materials. Seed shape of Angelica acutilobu is ovate. Color of seed coats varied from yellow to dark brown. Seed size was 5.5 mm in length, 4.0mm in width. One thousand-seed weight of Angelica acutilobus was 3,210mg. Optimum temperatures for seed germination and seedling growth ranged from 20 to $25^{\circ}C$.

Bonding And Anti-bonding Nature of Magnetic Semiconductor Thin Film of Fe(TCNQ:tetracyanoquinodimethane)

  • Developing magnetic thin films with desirable physical properties is a key step to promote research in spintronics. Organic-based magnetic material is a relatively new kind of materials which has magnetic properties in a molecular and microscopic level. These materials have been constructed by the coordination between 3d transition metal and organic materials producing long-range magnetic orders with a relatively high transition temperature. However, these materials were mostly synthesized as a form of powder, which is difficult to study for their physical properties as well as apply for electronic/spintronic devices. In this study, we have employed physical vapor deposition (PVD) to develop a new organic-based hybrid magnetic film that is achieved by the coordination of Fe and tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ). The IR spectra of the grown film show modified CN vibration modes in TCNQ, which suggest a strong bonding between Fe and TCNQ. The thin film has both ferromagnetic and semiconducting behaviors, which is suitable for molecular spintronic applications. The high resolution photoemission (HRPES) spectra also show shift of 1s peak point of nitrogen and the carbon 1s peaks display traces of charge transfer from Fe to TCNQ as well as shake-up features, which suggest strong bonding and anti-bonding nature of coordination between Fe and TCNQ.

PECVD로 제조된 비정질 질화탄소 박막의 특성에 미치는 증착변수의 영향 (Effects of Deposition Conditions on the Properties of Amorphous Carbon Nitride Thin Films by PECVD)

  • Amorphous carbon nitride films were deposited on Si(001) substrates by a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition technique (PECVD) using $CH_4$and $N_2$as reaction gases. The growth and film properties were investigated while the gas ratio and the working pressure were changed systematically. At 1 Torr working pressure, an increase in the $N_2$partial pressure results in a significant increase of the deposition rate as well as an apparent presence of C ≡N bonding, while little affecting the microstructure and amorphus nature of the films. In the case of changing the working pressure at a fixed $N_2$partial pressure of 98%, a film grown at a medium pressure of $1${\times}$10^{-2}$ Torr shows the most prominent C=N bonding nature and photoluminescent property.

국내 기업의 기술력과 기업특성에 관한 실증연구: 전자/통신 기업을 중심으로 (An Empirical Study on The Types and Characteristics of Technological Capability: Electronic and IT Firms of Korea)

  • In the knowledge-based economy, technological capability is critical for the survival and growth of firms. Technological capability differs across firms depending on the structural and environmental conditions. In nature, the evaluation of technological capability is an intractable task and thus previous studies often employ such proxy measures as patent, productivity, or profitability. In this research, we define technological capability as a combination of the above three measures and investigate, by using the multi-variate statistical analysis, the characteristics of technological capability of electronics/IT firms of Korea. We first propose a taxonomy in which firms are classified into four clusters based on the differences in the nature of technological capability. Then, across clusters, we comparatively analyze the relationship between technological capability and structural/environmental factors of firms. Finally, the implications of empirical findings will be discussed. This study is a small-scale, descriptive one but will be extended and elaborated by augmenting the database and/or incorporating more variables.

Semiparametric mixture of experts with unspecified gate network

  • The traditional mixture of experts (ME) modeled the gate network using a certain parametric function. However, if the assumed parametric function does not properly reflect the true nature, the prediction strength of ME would become weak. For example, the parametric ME often uses logistic or multinomial logistic models for the network model. However, this could be very misleading if the true nature of the data is quite different from those models. Although, in this case, we may develop more flexible parametric models by extending the model at hand, we will never be free from such misspecification problems. In order to alleviate such weakness of the parametric ME, we propose to use the semi-parametric mixture of experts (SME) in which the gate network is estimated in a non-parametrical way. Based on this, we compared the performance of the SME with those of ME and neural networks via several simulation experiments and real data examples.
