  • This study focuses on the structure of geographical conditions, the riverbed, the meterological and atmospheric examination, the ecological environment, the food chain and the ecosystem, in order to establish a basic plan for preparing a natural learning area of environmental ecosystem in Bukchun and its surroundings, Gyeongju. The results could be summarized as follows. Bukchun is a first grade which extends 6km along the road from Bomun bridge to the junction of Hyungsangang. The basin area is 7.10$\textrm{km}^2$ and the slope is 1/200~1/300. Gyeongju has good atmospheric conditions, i.e. SO$_2$0.011 ~0.017ppm, CO 0.8~ 1.5ppm, NO$_2$0.013~0.019ppm, $O_3$0.013~0.020ppm, TSP 85~142$\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥, PM-10 47~90$\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥ and Pb 0.057 ~0.129$\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥, which is below the annual and daily averages, and is little lower than those of Pohang and Ulsan. The ecosystem of Bukchun is based on the structure of the food chain, which includes birds such as the grey and white herons at the top of the food chain. This study also considers the development of the river's in terms of culture, environment and ecology concept.

  • The Arctic consists of numerous sedimentary basins containing voluminous natural resources and two of the world's major oil and gas producing areas. The western Siberia Basin in the Arctic region has the largest petroliferous province with an area of 800 ${\times}$ 1,200 km and produces more than 60% of total Russian oil production. The North Slope of Alaska produces about 20% of the U.S. output, i.e., 11% of the total U.S. consumption. Being small compared to those regions, the Canadian Northwest Territories and the Pechora Basin in Russia produce only fair amount of oil and natural gas. There are also many promising areas in the northern continental shelf of Russia. In addition to Russia, Svalbard and Greenland have been investigated for oil and gas. Gas hydrates are widespread in both permafrost regions and arctic continental shelf areas. The reserves of gas hydrates in the Arctic Ocean are about 20${\sim}$32% of total estimated amounts of gas hydrates in the world ocean. Mineral mining is well developed, especially in Russia. The major centers are located around the Kuznetsk Basin and Noril'sk. They are major suppliers of gold, tin, nickel, copper, platinum, cobalt, iron ore, coal as well as apatite. There are also some minings of lead-zinc in Alaska and Arctic Canada.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between the introduction order of 9 English morphemes in the English textbook used in the middle school and the learning order of the morphemes by the 7th graders learning English as a foreign language. The subjects are 139 students in two middle schools, who learn English with different textbooks. The introduction order of each morpheme in two textbooks was examined according to its quantity and frequency. Data on the real learning order were collected through the written SLOPE test, and each morpheme was ranked by its group score. The introduction order of each morpheme in the textbook and the real learning order were analyzed by Spearman rank order correlation. It was shown that the correlation between the two was very low. This means that those textbooks do not take the learning order of English morphemes into account. Also it was shown that in the earlier stage of learning English the introduction order of each morpheme in the textbook had much influence on its learning order, but in the later stage such influence reduced gradually. This means that the learning order of English morphemes approaches the natural order as time passes by.

  • Syntaxonomy and Synecology on Quercus variabilis forests in Daecheong-dam basin was carried out using the methods of Braun-Blanquet phytosociology. 6 syntaxa classified as species compositions described were Quercus variabilis community, Platycarya strobilacea-Quercus variabilis community(typicum subcommunity, dictamnus dasycarpus subcommunity), Quercetum variabili-serratae, Zelkova serrata-Quercus variabilis community and Dendranthema boreale-Quercus variabilis community. All syntaxa were shown habitat environmental conditions including steep inclination of more than 30°, high rock exposure rate of more than 50% and South-facing slope. These communities excepting Dendranthema boreale-Quercus variabilis community classified as natural vegetation were identified as low emergence rate of annual plants and species compositions composed native species, so it was confirmed that relatively natural succession were proceeding well. Quercetum variabili-serratae and Dendranthema boreale-Quercus variabilis community distributed forested hillslope of open water edge were representative Quercus variabilis syntaxa in Daecheong-dam basin.

  • The ammonium ion-selective electrodes ($NH^+_4$-ISEs) based on the tetrahydrofuran(THF)-containing-16-crown-4 derivatives,1,4,6,9,11,14,16,19-tetraoxocycloeicosane ($L^1$) and 5,10,15,20,-tetramethyl-1,4,6,9,11,14,16,19-tetraoxocycloeicosane ($L^2$), were prepared and the electrode characteristics were tested. The conditioned $NH_4^+$-ISEs (E1) based on $L^1$ with TEHP as a plasticising solvent mediator gave best results with near-Nernstian slope of 53.9 mV/decade of activity, detection limit of $10^{-4.9}$ M, and enhanced selectivity coefficients for the $NH^+_4$ ion with respect to an interfering $K^+$ ion (log $K^{pot}_{NH_4^+,K^+}$ = -1.84). This result was compared to other ammonium ionophores reported previously, for example, that of nonactin (log $K^{pot}_{NH_4^+,K^+}$ = -0.92). The proposed electrode showed no significant potential changes in the range of 3.0 < pH < 9.0.

  • As social environment of Korea was changing, the cremation is increased instead of traditional funeral culture. Therefore woodland burial appears new funeral culture in Korea. This research had been executed to find out the problem of soil and vegetation environments of woodland burial forest. The case study was worked at woodland burial in Incheon Family funeral services which was national pilot project. The problem of soil and vegetation environments were surveyed in slope, soil compaction, actual vegetation, vegetation communities, structure of forest communities and so on. The results from this study indicate that woodland burial construction didn't consider the damage and management of vegetation environment in Incheon Family funeral Services. Problems for the Law on funeral facilities of Korea is a lack of natural friendly standards for slope, management on structure of forest communities, facilities for users in it. It had steep topography, soil compaction, reduction of species diversity and poor plant growth on woodland burial in Incheon Family funeral Services. Therefore the users of it increase in the future, vegetation environment of woodland burial will be devastated. And so we need to improve standards of woodland burial construction and management to settle down burial culture of woodland burial in Korea.

  • The planning and design of coastal structures against wave attack is required to accurately predict wave transformation, wave run-up, and fluid. particlevelocities an a slope. On tire other hand, in tire swash and surf zones of a natural beach, where coastal erosion and accretion occur at tire land-sea boundary, hydrodynamic analysis is essential. In this study, a RBREAK2 numerical model was created based on the nonlinear shallow water equation and laboratory measurements were carried out in terms of tire free surface elevations and velocities for tire cases of regular and irregular waves on 1 : 10 and 1 : 5 impermeable slopes. The data were used to evaluate tire applicability and limitations of tire RBREAK2 numerical model. The numerical mode1 could predict tire cross-shore variation of the wave profile reasonably well, but showed more accurate results for slopes that were steeper than 1 : 10. Except near tire wave crest, tire computed depth averaged velocities could represent tire measured profile below tire trough level fairly well.

  • Wolaksan is a national park which has beautiful scenery with exposed rocks. The mountain is 1097 meters high and has 3 tops which are Jungang(the center), Arae(the lower part), Jjokduri. The highest point of the vertical cliff is 150m from the earth and the total circumferences of three tops is about 4km. These tops are easy to break by grains because they are from sedimentary rocks. Wolaksan is a bad mountain because the area is a Mosikjuk rocky area. However, the area around Wolaksan is thicky wooded and has many achievements and it makes good scenery. From top to southeastern, there are vertical cliff, The tops are originally from one but these are divided by partial weathering corrosion. The slide of path to Wolaksan is about 70。. The lower part of the mountain from Shinroksa to top has a gentle slope but there are a steep slope from the middle. Especially, the area has many rocks. The rocks of Wolaksan are almost granitic-gneiss or metamorphic rocks so it often fall down. Because of these fallen rocks, its valleys have great landscapes. The size of rock is less than 60cm. The landscapes of valleys such as Songgye, Dukju, Yonghwa are the main natural tourism resources.

  • The study area adjoins with Yangsan fault in Sangbuk-myeon, Samsam-ri, Kyongsang-namdo and consist of the natural steep slope. After drawing data layer which have altitude by using digital topography data, it is converted to lattice DEM of $10m{\times}10m$ size. From this, gradient map of unit lattice, slant direction map and shadow relif map are made. Using flow apportioning algorithm, upper slope contributing area and wetness index by established lattice can be calculated. Area that have high wetness index shows lineament structure of northwest-southeast direction, and this agrees with shear fracture system. The result of electricity specific resistance survey in the study area shows that area of high wetness index has low electricity specific resistance anomaly. That is, wetness index conforms with distribution of fractured zone that accompanied chemical weathering of rock. Therefore, wetness index can be used as the method of detecting fractured zones and judging the stability of the area.
