제약 회귀하의 목표계획법을 이용한 국내 천연가스 산업의 규모의 경제성 분석 (A goal programming/constrained regression : economics of scale for the Korean nature gas industry)

  • We consider a problem of estimating the economics of scale for the natural gas industries. The goal programming/constrained regression is employed for estimating the economics of scale for the natural gas industry, and the problem is formulated as a linear programing problem. Also the translog cost function is used to represent the cost structure for the natural gas industry. The Korean Gas Corporation was selected as a case study, and we demonstrate that the suggested goal programming/constrained regression approach is appropriate for estimating the economies of scale for the Korean nature gas industry.

유기농업의 온실가스 감축효과 (Effects of Organic Farming on Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze effects of greenhouse gas reduction in organic agriculture. To accomplish the objective of the study, a field survey was conducted. Based on the field survey results, LCA method was used to estimate the greenhouse gas emission. The farmer survey and LCA estimation data were provided by The Foundation of Agricultural Technology Commercialization and Transfer. The GHG estimation results showed that GHG emission of organic farming is less by 10.6~89.3% when compared with the conventional farming. In addition, the economic value of greenhouse gas reduction in organic farming amounts to 1,097 million won. Based on major findings, in response to national greenhouse gas reduction target, it is needed to expand organic farming, supporting organic farmers' income.

  • The research and development of high-performance polymer materials with excellent gas barrier properties has gained considerable attention from the viewpoint of expanding their applications in various fields, including tire automobile parts and the polymer film industry. Natural rubber (NR) has been widely used as a rubber material in real-life, but its application is limited owing to its poor gas barrier properties. In this paper, we study the gas barrier properties of NR, epoxidized natural rubber (ENR), and their blend compositions by using molecular simulation. The results show that ENR-50 has superior oxygen barrier properties than those of NR. Moreover, the oxygen barrier properties of a blend of NR/ENR-50 improve with increasing volume fraction of ENR-50. The trend of improved oxygen barrier properties of NR, ENR-50, and their blend is in good agreement with experimental observations.

동부 심해 울릉분지의 천연가스 하이드레이트 (Natural gas hydrates in the eastern deep-water Ulleung Basin)

  • Piston cores retrieved from the eastern part of the deep-water Ulleung Basin were analyzed to access the potential of hydrocarbon gas generation and natural gas hydrate (NGH) formation. Seismic data acquired in the study area were also analyzed to determine the presence of hydrocarbon gas and/or NGH, and to map their distribution. Core analyses revealed high total organic carbon (TOC) contents which favor hydrocarbon generation. The cores recovered from the southern study area showed the sufficient residual hydrocarbon gas concentrations for the formation of significant NGH. These cores also showed the cracks developed parallel to the bedding that suggest significant gas content in situ. A number of seismic blanking zones were observed on seismic data. They are identified as vertical to sub-vertical chimneys caused by the upward migration of pore fluid or gas, and containing of free gas and/or NGH. Often, they are associated with velocity pull-up structures that are interpreted to be the result of high-velocity NGH. The seismic data also showed several bottom-simulating reflectors (BSRs) that are associated with overlying NGH and underlying free gas. The distribution of blanking zones and BSRs would be impacted by the lateral differences of upward methane fluxes.

  • 본 실험 연구에서는 소형 고속기관의 가스엔진 특성을 다양한 방법으로 수행하였다. 그리고, 가스연료인 천연가스, 수소연료 및 휘발유 연료를 사용한 기관의 성능을 분석하고, 그에 대한 배기특성과 연소과정에 대하여 고찰하였다. 수소기관의 높은 회전과 고부하로 운전할 때 발생하는 역화를 방지하기 위하여 가스연료기관에 교축밸브를 설치하여 공기량을 조절하였다. 그리고 수소연료에 질소를 혼합하여 실험을 수행하였다. 그 결과 소형고속기관에 가스연료를 적용하여 운전하였을 때 여러 특성을 파악할 수 있었다.

Reviews on Natural Resources in the Arctic: Petroleum, Gas, Gas Hydrates and Minerals

  • The Arctic consists of numerous sedimentary basins containing voluminous natural resources and two of the world's major oil and gas producing areas. The western Siberia Basin in the Arctic region has the largest petroliferous province with an area of 800 ${\times}$ 1,200 km and produces more than 60% of total Russian oil production. The North Slope of Alaska produces about 20% of the U.S. output, i.e., 11% of the total U.S. consumption. Being small compared to those regions, the Canadian Northwest Territories and the Pechora Basin in Russia produce only fair amount of oil and natural gas. There are also many promising areas in the northern continental shelf of Russia. In addition to Russia, Svalbard and Greenland have been investigated for oil and gas. Gas hydrates are widespread in both permafrost regions and arctic continental shelf areas. The reserves of gas hydrates in the Arctic Ocean are about 20${\sim}$32% of total estimated amounts of gas hydrates in the world ocean. Mineral mining is well developed, especially in Russia. The major centers are located around the Kuznetsk Basin and Noril'sk. They are major suppliers of gold, tin, nickel, copper, platinum, cobalt, iron ore, coal as well as apatite. There are also some minings of lead-zinc in Alaska and Arctic Canada.

액화천연가스 운반선(LNGC)의 발전 추세 (A Developing Tendency of Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers)

  • LNGC(Liquefied Natural Gas Carrier)의 역사는 1959년 $5,000m^3$ 급 LNG선 "Methane Pioneer"호를 시작으로 1969년에는 $71,500m^3$ 급, 1973년에는 Moss Type의 최초 LNG운반선 "Norman Lady($87,600m^3$)호, 1980년대 $125,000m^3$ 급을 시작으로 1990년대를 거처 $135,000m^3$ 급, 2007년 $210,000m^3$급 그리고 2008년에는 $266,000m^3$ 급의 초대형 액화천연가스 운반선이 출현하였다. 또한 2006년 11월에는 기존 내 외연 기관이 아닌 발전기 기동으로 Propeller를 움직이는 DFDE(Duel Fuel Diesel Electric)엔진, 육상의 Storage Tank를 생략한 기화설비를 갖춘 LNG-RV(Re-gasification Vessel)와 주 기관은 Slow Diesel을 택하고, 운항 중 발생하는 BOG(Boil Off Gas)를 재액화시키는 설비를 갖춘 DRL(Diesel Re-Liquefaction)선박 및 해상 LNG 생산 저장시설인 LNG-FPSO(Floating Production and Storage Offshore), 그리 고 해상 LNG 인수기지 역할을 하는 LNG-FSRU(Floating Store and Re-gasification Unit) 등이 개발되었다. 이 논문에서는 LNG Project, 전 세계 에너지 시장과 LNGC의 발전 추세에 대하여 다루었다.

천연가스 액화를 위한 캐스케이드 냉동사이클의 전산모사에 대한 연구 [1] (A Simulation Study on the Cascade Refrigeration Cycle for the Liquefaction of Natural Gas [1])

  • 본 논문에서는 천연가스를 액화시키기 위해서 프로판, 에틸렌 및 메탄 냉매를 이용한 캐스케이드 냉동 사이클에 대한 전산모사를 PRO/II with PROVISION 8.3에 내장되어 있는 Peng-Robinson 상태방정식을 활용하여 수행하였다. 천연가스의 조성은 한국가스공사로부터 제공받은 것을 적용하였으며, 유량은 년간 500만톤으로 가정하였다. 프로판 냉매의 공급온도는 $-40^{\circ}C$로, 에틸렌 냉매의 공급온도는 $-95^{\circ}C$로 메탄 냉매의 공급온도는 $-155^{\circ}C$로 각각 정하였으며, 천연가스와 각각의 냉매의 최소 접근온도는 $3^{\circ}C$로 정하였다. 메탄 냉매에 의해서 $-152^{\circ}C$까지 냉각된 천연가스는 줄-톰슨 팽창에 의해서 $-162^{\circ}C$까지 냉각되어 액화가 일어나도록 하였다. 결론적으로 캐스케이드 냉동 사이클과 줄-톰슨 팽창을 통해서 천연가스의 액화율은 몰비로 91.64%임을 알 수 있었다.

LNG 열교환기의 압력강하에 따른 천연가스 액화용 초저온 캐스케이드 냉동사이클 특성 (Characteristics of Cryogenic Cascade Refrigeration Cycle for Liquefaction of Natural Gas with the Pressure Drop of Heat Exchanger)

  • 천연가스는 $-160^{\circ}C$까지 냉각 및 액화되어 액화천연가스(LNG)가 되고, 이때 LNG의 체적은 천연 가스의 1/600로 줄어든다. 이로 인해 LNG는 수송시에 이점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 천연가스 액화용 초저온 캐스케이드 냉동사이클의 LNG 열교환기내 냉매와 천연가스의 압력강하가 액화사이클에 미치는 영향을 파악한 후, LNG 열교환기 설계시 압력강하에 대한 기준안을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해 HYSYS를 이용하여 초저온 캐스케이드 액화사이클 내 LNG 열교환기의 압력강하에 대해서 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 초저온 액화사이클의 압축일량과 성능계수(COP)의 증가로부터, LNG 열교환기 내의 압력강하는 50 kPa정도를 기준 설계 압력강하로 설정할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

Aqeous Neutralizer as Reactive Solvents for Odorous Ammonia Removal

  • Ammonia is an inorganic compound that may cause severe odor problem. In this study the effectiveness of applying natural neutralizer to destroy and remove the odor-causing compound from gas streams was studied. Experimental result evaluated with a bench-scale apparatus via the neutralization of gas phase. This indicates that the natural neutralization depends on the gas concentration, gas residence time, temperature and pH. Removal efficiency of ammonia from gas stream was achieved by 95% using theconvection in the packed bed. This study proved the chemical neutralization technology was effective for controlling inorganic odor-causing compound.
