천연가스를 모사하는 등가가스의 유효성 검토 (Examination of validation for equivalent gas to replace natural gas)

  • 산지마다 상이한 성분을 갖는 천연가스의 가스호환성 및 연소특성을 판정하기 위해서는 많은 시간과 비용이 소비되고 그 범위도 넓어 어려움이 있어, 천연가스를 모사하는 등가가스를 대체하여 사용하는 방법이 사용되고 있다. 등가가스는 천연가스와 발열량, 압축계수, 상대밀도, CO 배출농도 및 연소속도에 차이가 거의 없다고 알려져 있지만, 실제 가스기기에 대한 화염형상, NOx 배출농도 및 효율에 대한 연구는 아직 보고되고 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 천연가스를 모사하는 등가가스를 대상으로 기존에 보고된 CO 배출농도, 연소속도 및 화염온도 등을 재확인하고, 화염형상, NOx 배출농도 및 효율에 대해서 수치해석 및 실험을 통해 비교 검토함으로써 등가가스의 유효성을 검토하였다. 그 결과 천연가스와 등가가스의 차이는 미세하였으며, 등가가스를 이용하여 천연가스의 연소특성 및 호환성 범위를 검토하는데 문제가 없을 것으로 판단되었다.

전력수급기본계획의 불확실성과 CO2 배출 목표를 고려한 발전용 천연가스 장기전망과 대책 (Scenario Analysis of Natural Gas Demand for Electricity Generation in Korea)

  • This study organizes scenarios on the power supply plans and electricity load forecasts considering their uncertainties and estimates natural gas quantity for electricity generation, total electricity supply cost and air pollutant emission of each scenario. Also the analysis is performed to check the properness of government's natural gas demand forecast and the possibility of achieving the government's CO2 emission target with the current plan and other scenarios. In result, no scenario satisfies the government's CO2 emission target and the natural gas demand could be doubled to the government's forecast. As under-forecast of natural gas demand has caused the increased natural gas procurement cost, it is required to consider uncertainties of power plant construction plan and electricity demand forecast in forecasting the natural gas demand. In addition, it is found that CO2 emission target could be achieved by enlarging natural gas use and demand-side management without big increase of total costs.

  • On the continental margins and in permafrost regions, natural gas, which has been expected to replace petroleum energy, exists In solid hydrate farm. World hydrate reserves Including natural gas are estimated at about twice as much as the energy contained In total fossil fuel reserves. Because of its vast quantities, the efficient recovery of natural gas from natural gas hydrate becomes the most important factor on evaluating the economic feasibility in the sense of commercialization. It has been noted that carbon dioxide, one of the well-known green house gases, possibly can be stored in the ocean floor as a carbon dioxide hydrate. If the natural gas hydrate could be converted into carbon dioxide hydrate, natural gas hydrate deposits would serve as energy sources as well as carbon dioxide storage sites in the deep ocean sediments. In this study, we first attempted to examine the real swapping phenomenon occurring between guest molecules and various structures of gas hydrate through spectroscopic identification such as NMR spectroscopy.

연료의 조성변화가 천연가스차량의 연비 및 배출가스 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Gas Compositions on Fuel Economy and Exhaust Emissions of Natural Gas Vehicles)

  • Natural gas is one of the most promising alternative fuels for automotive vehicles. However, natural gas varies in compositional between the originating fields and may be further modified due to processing and additional mixing. These variations are known to affect engine performance and emissions through changes in fuel metering and combustion characteristics. In the present study, the effect of gas compositions on vehicle performance such as fuel economy, driveability and exhaust emissions was examined. Analysis are made of using 3 types of NGVs which were made by automakers and 6 different fuels which are selected in consideration of the variation in fuel composition on the worldwide market. The results may be utilized to develop natural gas natural gas engine in automaekrs and/or to establish the fuel standard in the refueling stations.

  • The price of natural gas import continues to rise, as well as its domestic consumption rate. This research examined the economic feasibility of domestically developing and producing gas hydrate to substitute imported natural gas. Today, the technology to commercially produce gas hydrate is still lacking; however, if the gas hydrate is able to be commercially produced domestically and replace imported natural gas, the annual economic benefit for the Republic of Korea would be 211 - 833 USD/ton. From the industry's point of view, gas hydrate is a high value investment since one can expect an annual profit of over 150USD/ton. The commercial value of gas hydrate development will increase as long as the natural gas market continues to expand and as the increase of natural gas consumption remains steady. With further development of technology, one can anticipate an even higher expected return on the investment.

  • This paper compares the performance of JP-8(Jet Propellant) fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and natural gas in the F110 GE100 jet engine. The cost of natural gas usage in gas turbine engines is lower than JP-8 and LPG. LPG cost is more than JP-8. LPG volume is bigger than JP-8 in the same flight conditions. Fuel tank should be cryogenic for using natural gas in the aircraft. Cost and weight of the cryogenic tanks are bigger. Cryogenic tanks decrease the move capability of the aircraft. The use of jet propellant (JP) is the best in available application for F110 GE 100 jet engine.

  • 한반도의 지구 온난화는 세계에서 가장 빠른 속도로 진행되고 있고, 이상기후 현상도 날로 심화되고 있다. 따라서 하절기의 혹서와 동절기의 혹한으로 인한 전력수요가 급증함에 따라 우리나라의 전력 수급상황은 매우 어려운 상황에 있다. 현재 천연가스는 현존하는 화석연료 중 온실가스 배출이 가장 적어서 공급이 확산되고 있다. 천연가스냉방은 전력피크 완화는 물론, 발전소 추가 건설비용의 절감, 천연가스 저장설비의 효율적 운영 및 분산형 전원으로서의 역할수행도 가능한 장점이 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 전력 부하관리의 대안으로서 천연가스냉방의 경제성을 분석하였다.

  • Methane is the cleanest fuel and supplies by many distributed type: liquefaction natural gas (LNG), compressed natural gas (CNG), and pipeline natural gas (PNG). Natural gas is mainly composed by methane and has been discovered in the oil and gas fields. Coal bed methane (CBM) is also one of them which reserved in coalbed. This significant new energy sources has emerge to convert an energy source, hydrogen and hydrogen-driven chemicals. For this CBM, this paper was written to analyze the geological analysis and reserves in Mongolian Tavan Tolgoi CBM coal mine and to examine the application field. This paper is mainly a preliminary feasibility report analyzing the business of Tavan Tolgoi CBM and its exploitable gas.

비전통가스 개발 확대에 따른 국내외 에너지믹스 동향 및 대기환경영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the trend of Energy Mix and Air Environmental Impact Assessment)

  • Unconventional natural gas resources are now estimated to be as large as conventional resources. Unconventional natural gas has became an increasingly important source of energy in the world since the start of this century. The factors that drive natural gas demand and supply point more and more to a future in which natural gas plays greater role in the global energy mix. The expansion of using natural gas will be expected in Korea. This research aims to analyze environmental impacts of expansion of unconventional natural gas. This research was carried out for comparative analysis between global energy mix and Korea energy mix, and developed a case that reflect the changed energy mix due to the expansion of unconventional natural gas in Korea. Also this research evaluate the production of air pollutants and the cost of the damage in power generation sector. The results of this research can be summarized as that natural gas portion of future global energy mix (about 25%) is greater than Korea energy mix (about 12%). This research developed a case that replace 10% energy of power generation sector to natural gas in the 6th demand supply program, reflecting the changed energy mix due to the expansion of natural gas use. In that case, air pollutants would be reduced gradually through 2015 to 2027. In detail, carbon dioxide reduces 22 million tons and environmental damage cost reduces 4500 billion won by 2027.

천연가스 유량변화에 따른 터보팽창기 감압시스템 운전 최적화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Operational Optimization of Turbo-Expander Pressure Reduction System to the Natural Gas Flow Rates)

  • 천연가스 감압기지에 터보팽창기 감압시스템을 도입하여 천연가스의 감압과정에서 전기에너지를 생산할 수 있다. 터보팽창기의 효율은 천연가스의 유량과 터보팽창기 설계유량의 비에 따라 달라진다. 따라서 터보팽창기로 들어가는 유량을 조절함으로써 감압시스템을 운전하기 위한 최적조건을 결정할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 두 곳의 저압 정압기지에서 천연가스의 압력이 17.5 bar에서 8.5 bar로 감압될 때 천연가스의 유량에 따라 생산 가능한 전력을 계산하고 계산결과의 비교를 통해 터보팽창기 감압시스템이 최적으로 운전되기 위한 조건을 찾았다. 천연가스의 평균 유량이 크고 유량의 변화가 작을 때 터보팽창기가 효율적으로 운전되었고 터보팽창기의 설계유량은 천연가스의 유량을 가장 많이 포함하는 용량에서 결정되었다. 선정된 두 정압기지에서 회수 가능한 전력생산량은 9 MW(B 기지), 12 MW(D 기지)로 추산되었다.
