A Position Control of EHA Systems using Adaptive PID Sliding Mode Control Scheme (적응PID 슬라이딩 모드 제어기법을 적용한 EHA 시스템의 위치제어)

  • An adaptive PID sliding mode controller is proposed for the position control of electro-hydrostatic actuator(EHA) systems with system uncertainties and saturation in the motor. An EHA prototype is developed and system modeling and parameter identification are executed. Then, adaptive PID sliding mode controller and optimal anti-windup PID controller are designed and the performance and robustness of the two control systems are compared by experiment. It was found that the adaptive PID sliding mode control system has better performance and is more robust to system uncertainties than the optimal anti-windup PID control system.

  • Engine lubrication system has very complex oil flow networks. Therefore it is difficult to evaluate and optimize the system only depending on experimental results. When we plan upgrading the engine performance the engine lubrication system must be considered in the plan. In this paper, engine lubrication system design using computational fluid dynamic analysis was studied. To do this, unsteady transient flow network analysis on the engine oil circuit system was carried out. Finally we discussed the design process in the modified engine lubrication system.

  • In recent years, the research and development for the photovoltaic(PV) energy system are making rapidly progress around the world and specially this country, too due the deregulation law for the renewable energy system seems to be born sooner or later. If we can study PV generation system regardless of weather condition, we will study much more efficiently. This paper introduces the algorithm of PV power generation system simulator and the results of simulation by using PSCAD/EMTDC. In next paper, authors will prove the algorithm of PV simulator proposed in this paper by making real simulator and getting the result of experiment.

Balancing Conservation and Development in National Parks of Japan: Success or Failure? (일본의 국립공원 보호와 개발의 조화 : 성공 또는 실패?)

  • This paper evaluates the historical development of national park policy and administration in Japan from the perspective of achieving sustainable development in nationally important ecological areas. Contrary to the widely held belief, the national park system in Japan has been unsuccessful in balancing conservation and development. The fundamental reasons for its failure are as follows: the Japan's national park system has been largely founded and developed based on economic grounds and held sway by economic development policy; the policy and administrative coordination between government units concerning conservation and development has not been carried out; public participation and environmental groups' involvement in the decision making have been extremely limited; national parks have been perceived in the public image not as distinctive national heritage but as finest and popular tourist sites; and the dominant interest of tourism and recreational development has prevailed over conservation interest. Japan's unsuccessful experience and lessons imply that there is urgent need to drastically reform our national park system, largely founded on the Japanese model, in order to save our last national environmental heritage.

  • The emergency response modeling system CARIS has been developed at CCSM (Center for Chemical Safety Management), NIER (National Institute of Environmental Research) to track and predict dispersion of hazardous chemicals for the environmental decision support in case of accidents at chemical or petroleum companies in Korea. The main objective of CARIS is to support making decision by rapidly providing the key information on the efficient emergency response of hazardous chemical accidents for effective approaches to risk management. In particular, the integrated modeling system in CARIS consisting of a real-time numerical weather forecasting model and air pollution dispersion model is supplemented for the diffusion forecasts of hazardous chemicals, covering a wide range of scales and applications for atmospheric information. In this paper, we introduced the overview of components of CARIS and described the operational modeling system and its configurations of coupling/integration in CARIS. Some examples of the operational modeling system is presented and discussed for the real-time risk assessments of hazardous chemicals.

  • Grid connected PV(Photovoltic) generation systems are becoming and actual and general. The power output of PV system is directly affected by the weather conditions. And when AC power supply is needed, power conversion by an inverter and a MPPT control are necessary. The PV power generation system can be treated to a harmonics source for the power distribution system. So, the PV system combined the function of active filter system can be useful applied in power distribution system. AF(Active Filters) intended for harmonic solutions are expending their functions from harmonic compensation of nonlinear loads into harmonic isolation between utilities and consumer. With the test analysis of the proposed control strategy of PV-AF system, the outcome of the test shows the stability and effectiveness of the proposed PV-AF system. The various capability of AF has been proved in previous research and usage. In this paper, authors present a DSP controlled PV-AF system for power conditioning in three-phase industrial or commercial power systems and verify it through experimental results.
