  • The National Archives of Korea and other archives now provide services through social media such as Facebook or Twitter, and use such platforms to interact with users. To be specific, users communicate with and get information from these archives via the National Sinmoongo, the place for civil petition. Therefore, it is significant to understand the users' needs and the contents of the communication by analyzing the comments and petitions that have appeared in these channels. For this, this study analyzed users' perceptions and information needs shared through social media and the National Sinmoongo of the National Archives of Korea. The social media content analyzed here were posts and comments from the Facebook accounts of the National Archives of Korea, e-Record, the Busan Archives, and the Presidential Archives of Korea. Also, sentences containing the words "National Archives of Korea" and "Presidential Archives of Korea" that have appeared in texts in the National Sinmoongo were analyzed. Based on the analysis results, suggestions that could activate the user-centered archival information services in the archives and records centers were made.

  • This study aims to share a methodology for locality reproduction by concretely explaining the theoretical model, procedure, and practice of constructing the Port of Busan Image Digital Archive, based on the photographic and postcard images of the Port of Busan, the representative place of Busan. Among the open-source record management programs, Omeka was chosen in implementing the digital archive because of its suitability for image exhibition. After establishing the principles for archive implementation in accordance with the purpose of the archive, a basic investigation was conducted for the record collection. With the consent of the individuals and institutions that possess the related records on the Port of Busan, such as the National Archives of Korea, the Busan Museum, and the City of Busan, original image artifacts were thus collected. The collected artifacts were then described using the Dublin Core metadata and categorized by time period. The Port of Busan was classified through four distinctive spatial characteristics (transportation, historic, industrial, and living spaces). A total of 11 themes for the exhibition was then suggested. The Busan-Shimonoseki Ferry Boat was chosen as an example exhibition of transportation space.

This has resulted in Busan port becoming the greatest port in Korea. Because of this, the Superintendent Office (Gamriseo, 監理署) was established at 1883 but was later abolished in 1906. In this thesis, the author explored the opening procedure of Busan Port as an open port, the structure of the positions in the Superintendent Office, and the establishment and abolition, types, and contents of records of Gamriseo that were created or received. Records of the Superintendent Office were classified into diplomatic records, judge records, police records, customs records, administrative records, and the daily records of the institution. Most of the original documents of the Superintendent Office were preserved at the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies while some were published by the National Institute of Korean History and Asiatic Research Institute of Korea University.

  • This major sites of liquidperoxidation-damage within the cell are at biomembrances, especially those of subcellular organells such as mitochondria and microsomes whose membranes contain relatively large amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Mitochondria are the power plants of eukaryotic cells. Hence their damage by liquid peroxidation can profoundly affect cellular function.

  • The mixing of salicylic acid and wheat starch powders was studied using a V-type mixer. After the optimum operating conditions of the mixer were examined, the mixing characteristics relating to dilution ratio, particle size of active ingradient and addition ratio of lubricants were investigated. The coefficient of variation was expressed by a power law relating to the dilution ratio and the particle size of active ingredient. Furthermore, the comparison of results with the theoretically estimated value of mixing index suggested that the mixing of cohesive pharmacceutical powders is a complex stochastic process and cannot be explained fully by a simple theory based on a complete random mixing.

  • Data on the solubility of p-hydroxy-benzoate in amide-water cosolvent system and surface tension of the binary amide-water cosolvents are analyzed in terms of the possible mechanism for cosolvency. The results of the study suggest that strong partitioning of the alkylated amides to the ester surface, thus reducing the hydrophobic interface within the system, nay account for much of the cosolvency phenomena observed in these systems.
