A Study on Malfunction Mode of CMOS IC Under Narrow-Band High-Power Electromagnetic Wave (협대역 고출력 전자기파로 인한 CMOS IC에서의 오동작 특성 연구)

  • This study examined the malfunction mode of the HCMOS IC under narrow-band high-power electromagnetic wave. Magnetron is used to a narrow-band electromagnetic source. MFR (malfunction failure rate) was measured to investigate the HCMOS IC. In addition, we measured the resistance between specific pins of ICs, which are exposed and not exposed to the electromagnetic wave, respectively. As a test result of measurement, malfunction mode is shown in three steps. Flicker mode causing a flicker in LED connected to output pin of IC is dominant in more than 7.96 kV/m electric field. Self-reset mode causing a voltage drop to the input and output of IC during electromagnetic wave radiation is dominant in more than 9.1 kV/m electric field. Power-reset mode making a IC remained malfunction after electromagnetic radiation is dominant in more than 20.89 kV/m. As a measurement result of pin-to-pin resistance of IC, the differences between IC exposed to electromagnetic wave and normal IC were minor. However, the five in two hundred IC show a relatively low resistance. This is considered to be the result of the breakdown of pn junction when latch-up in CMOS occurred. Based on the results, the susceptibility of HCMOS IC can be applied to a basic database to IC protection and impact analysis of narrow-band high-power electromagnetic waves.

A New SC-FDE Transmission Structure for Coping with Narrow Band Jammers and Reducing Pilot Overhead (협대역 재머 대응과 파일럿 오버헤드 감소를 위한 새로운 SC-FDE 전송구조)

  • In this paper, we propose a new SC-FDE (single carrier frequency domain equalization) structure to cope with narrow band interference signals or jammers and reduce pilot overhead. The conventional SC-FDE structure has a problem that the receiver performance degrades severely due to difficulty in time-domain channel estimation when narrow band jammers exist. In addition, the spectral efficiency is lowered by transmitting pilot at every SC-FDE block to estimate channel response. In order to overcome those problems, the proposed structure is devised to estimate frequency domain channel directly without time domain channel estimation. To reduce the pilot overhead, several data blocks are transmitted between two pilots. The channel estimate of each data block is found through linear interpolation of two channel estimates at two pilots. By performing frequency domain channel equalization using this channel estimate, the distortion by the channel is well compensated when narrow band jammers exist. The performance of the proposed structure is confirmed by computer simulation.

  • Because of superior division among sub-channels, DWT MC-CDMA is less interference with neighborhood channel. In our newly proposed multi-carrier CDMA data transmission method, lIR CMFB filter banks sharply divide sub-bands and reduces spectral overlaps among neighboring sub-channels. In experiment result, proposed filter is better ability of sub-band division than FIR filter. Since the proposed cosine modulated filter banks lIR filter having wavelet property is designed to response sharp transition band, the ISI and ICI between neighboring sub-channels can be effectively reduced. And robustness about narrow band interference of CMFB IIR MC-CDMA almost same FIR DWT MC-CDMA.

  • In this paper we address the problem of detecting and estimating an unknown narrow band signal in a noise interference environment A new practical band estimation method, yielding good performance even in case of finite-length data, is presented. More specifically, wavelet packet transform is utilized to detect the more accurate time-variant band, then we estimate the power from wavelet filter-coefficients of the respective band. Also, third-order cumulants, and projection cross-correlation (PCC) criterion are utilized to achieve an effective SNR improvement for the time-variant band estimation. In case of time variant band estimation, the PCC method yields better performance than the correlation method.

  • We demonstrate binary spectral phase coded waveform discrimination at 10 GHz for narrow band optical code-division multiple-access (NB-OCDMA) via direct electrical detection without using any optical hard-limiter. Only 9 phase-locked, 10 GHz spaced, spectral lines within a 100 GHz spectral window are used for the phase coding. Considerably high contrast ratio of 5 between signal and multiuser access interference noise can be achieved for $4{\times}10\;G\;pulse/sec$ timing coordinated OCDMA at a simple electrical receiver with 50 GHz bandwidth.

  • As the low power GPS signal is susceptible to interference, interference can seriously degrade the performance of GPS receiver. This paper designs a ANIEF(Adaptive Narrowband Interference Excision in Frequency domain) filter that removes narrow band interferences with low signal loss. This filter uses the pre-correlation technique and attempts to filter out the interference in the frequency domain. The interference excision performance of the designed filter is evaluated for various interferences using the ANIEF filter inserted GPS software receiver and the interference generator. Interferences considered in this paper are single-tone CWI(Continuous Wave Interference), multi-tones CWI, pulsed CWI, and swept CWI. The narrowband interference excision filter in frequency domain is very effective against various interferences and the strong interference with a simple structure. However, the signal power loss is unavoidable while transforming. In this paper, the hamming window and overlap technique are adopted to reduce the signal power loss. Finally, the interference excision performance and the reduced signal power loss of the ANIEF filter are shown.

  • This paper represents 50 ㎓ narrow band pass filters for fiber optical communication fabricated by dual ion beam sputtering method. We have analyzed the characteristics of the TA$_2$ $O_{5}$ and $SiO_2$ single layers in order to optimize the process conditions for the 50 ㎓ narrow band pass filters, and controlled the film thickness uniformity to less than 0.1 nm deviation by dual peak spike filter pre-deposition. We designed and fabricated 50 ㎓ narrow band pass filters that consist of 216 layers including 4 cavities based on quarter wave optical thickness. Class substrates with high thermal expansion coefficients were used to reduce the film stress. Anti-reflection coating at the rear side of the substrate was also needed to reduce the optical thickness errors of the Optical Monitoring System caused by multiple beam interference between the front side and the rear side of substrate. The optical characteristics of this 50 ㎓ narrow band pass filters are insertion loss of 0.40 ㏈, pass band ripple of 0.20 ㏈, and pass bandwidth at -0.5 ㏈ of 0.20 nm. and isolation bandwidth at -25 ㏈ of 0.6 nm, which satisfy specifications of dense WDM system in fiber optical communications.tions.

A Study on the Narrow-band Interference Rejection in DS Spread-spectrum Systems (DS 스펙트럼 확산 시스템의 협대역 간섭 제거에 관한 연구)

  • A new lattice structure using decision feedback and augmented prediction for estimating and suppressing the narrowband interference is presented. The performance of the proposed interference canceller is compared to the conventional interference cancellation filter. The reference signal of the interference canceller is formed by using the chip decisions, which is correlated with the narrowband interference components of the received signal. The decision feedback technique reduce the distortion of the desired signal which is introduced by the interference canceller through the use of feedback chip decisions. And by linear prediction of the error signal, the residual interference component of can be eliminated, Using this unconteminated error signal to update the adaptive filter coefficients, the performance of the rejection can be improved. In the simulation, it is assumed that the processing gains are 7 and 15, signal to interference ratio is -10[dB], and 5% interference band. The results show that the BER performance of the proposed filter structure is improved by 1~3dB.

  • Interference from IEEE 802.11a systems affects ultra-wideband (UWB) systems significantly. In this letter, we suggest a novel narrow-band interference (NBI) suppression technique based on the singular value decomposition (SVD) algorithm in time-hopping pulse amplitude modulation (TH-PAM) UWB systems. The SVD algorithm is used to approximate the interference which then is subtracted from the received signals. In contrast to the conventional notch filter and rake receiver, our method is more effective and the receiver complexity can be greatly reduced.

  • This paper presents the GPS receiver's inherent interference effectiveness based on the receiver's internal processing gain. This research is to verify the weakness of the GPS satellite signals and evaluate the receiver's vulnerability in an interference situation. The experiment for the narrow band interference effectiveness for the L1 C/A code GPS receiver has been performed by using the Spirent GSS4765 jamming simulator. After analyzing the experimental result, it is compared with the calculated J/S value of the two different L1 C/A code GPS receivers. By the above result, the narrowband jamming effectiveness of the each jamming source and the jamming margin for the each receiver are to be analyzed in detail. Finally, we could utilize the result to analyze the jamming effectiveness on the GNSS receiver.
