Piezoelectric technology, which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy, has recently attracted drawn considerable attention in the industry. Among the many kinds of piezoelectric materials, BaTiO3 nanotube arrays, which have outstanding uniformity and anisotropic orientation compared to nanowire-based arrays, can be fabricated using a simple synthesis process. In this study, we developed a flexible piezoelectric energy harvester (f-PEH) based on a composite film with PVDF-coated BaTiO3 nanotube arrays through sequential anodization and hydrothermal synthesis processes. The f-PEH fabricated using the piezoelectric composite film exhibited excellent piezoelectric performance and high flexibility compared to the previously reported BaTiO3 nanotube array-based energy harvester. These results demonstrate the possibility for widely application with high performance by our advanced f-PEH technique based on BaTiO3 nanotube arrays.

Solid-state dewetting of thin films is a process through which continuous solid films decay to form islands. Dewetting of thin films has long been a critical issue in microelectronics and much effort has been made to prevent the process and enhance the stability of films. On the other hand, dewetting has also been purposely induced to create arrays of particles and other structures for applications, including plasmonic structures and catalysts for growing nanotube and nanowire. We have investigated ways of producing regular structures via templated dewetting of thin films. Mainly, two different approaches have been used in our works to template dewetting of thin films: periodic topographical templating and planar patterning of epitaxially-grown films. Dewetting of topographically-patterned thin films results in the formation of nanoparticle arrays with spatial and crystallographic orders. Morphological evolution during templated-dewetting of single crystal films occurs in deterministic ways because of geometric and crystallographic constraints, and leads to the formation of regular structures with smaller sizes and more complex shapes than the initial patches. These results will be reviewed in this presentation.
The conversion of mechanical energy into electrical energy at nanoscale using piezoelectric nanowire arrays has been in detail shown by deflection of nanowires. Recently it has performed an analytical model, both at classical and at quantum level, for describing the most important quantities concerning transport phenomena; the model predicts interesting peculiarities, as high initial charge diffusion in nanodevices constituting by nanowires and permits also in particular to deduce interesting informations about the devices sensitivity, focusing on the correlation between sensitivity and high initial diffusivity of these materials at nanometric level.
Metal halide perovskite (MHP) nanocrystals (NCs) have emerged as promising materials for various optoelectronic applications including photovoltaics, light-emitting devices, and photodetectors because of their high absorption coefficient, high diffusion length, and photoluminescence quantum yield. However, understanding the morphological evolution of the MHP NCs as well as their controlled assembly into optoelectronic devices is still challenging and will require further investigation of the colloidal chemistry. In this study, we found that the amount of n-octylamine (the capping agent) plays a crucial role in inducing further growth of the MHP NCs into one-dimensional nanowires during the aging process. In addition, we demonstrate that the dielectrophoresis process can permit self-alignment of the MHP nanowires with uniform distribution and orientation on interdigitated electrodes. A strong light-matter interaction in the MHP NWs array was observed under UV illumination, indicating the photo-induced activation of their luminescence and electrical current in the self-aligned MHP nanowire arrays.

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have generated a strong interest in the development of solid-state devices owing to their low cost and simple preparation procedures. Effort has been devoted to the study of electrolytes that allow light-to-electrical power conversion for DSSC applications. Several attempts have been made to substitute the liquid electrolyte in the original solar cells by using (2,2',7,7'-tetrakis (N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamine)-9-9'-spirobi-fluorene (spiro-OMeTAD) that act as hole conductor [1]. Although efficiencies above 3% have been reached by several groups, here the major challenging is limited photoelectrode thickness ($2{\mu}m$), which is very low due to electron diffusion length (Ln) for spiro-OMeTAD ($4.4{\mu}m$) [2]. In principle, the $TiO_2$ layer can be thicker than had been thought previously. This has important implications for the design of high-efficiency solid-state DSSCs. In the present study, we have fabricated 3-D Transparent Conducting Oxide (TCO) by growing tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) nanowire (NWs) arrays via a vapor transport method [3] and mesoporous $TiO_2$ nanoparticle (NP)-based photoelectrodes were prepared using doctor blade method. Finally optimized light-harvesting solid-state DSSCs is made using 3-D TCO where electron life time is controlled the recombination rate through fast charge collection and also ITO NWs length can be controlled in the range of over $2{\mu}m$ and has been characterized using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). Structural analyses by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and X-Ray diffraction (XRD) results reveal that the ITO NWs formed single crystal oriented [100] direction. Also to compare the charge collection properties of conventional NPs based solid-state DSSCs with ITO NWs based solid-state DSSCs, we have studied intensity modulated photovoltage spectroscopy (IMVS), intensity modulated photocurrent spectroscopy (IMPS) and transient open circuit voltages. As a result, above $4{\mu}m$ thick ITO NWs based photoelectrodes with Z907 dye shown the best performing device, exhibiting a short-circuit current density of 7.21 mA cm-2 under simulated solar emission of 100 mW cm-2 associated with an overall power conversion efficiency of 2.80 %. Finally, we achieved the efficiency of 7.5% by applying a CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite sensitizer.

Nanostuctures such as nanodot and nanowire have been extensively studied as building blocks for nanoscale devices. However, the direct growth of the nanostuctures at the desired position is one of the most important requirements for realization of the practical devices with high integrity. Self-assembled nanotemplate is one of viable methods to produce highly-ordered nanostructures because it exhibits the highly ordered nanometer-sized pattern without resorting to lithography techniques. And selective epitaxial growth (SEG) can be a proper method for nanostructure fabrication because selective growth on the patterned openings obtained from nanotemplate can be a proper direction to achieve high level of control and reproducibility of nanostructucture fabrication. Especially, SiGe has led to the development of semiconductor devices in which the band structure is varied by the composition and strain distribution, and nanostructures of SiGe has represented new class of devices such nanowire metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors and photovoltaics. So, in this study, various shaped SiGe nanostructures were selectively grown on Si substrate through ultrahigh vacuum chemical vapor deposition (UHV-CVD) of SiGe on the hexagonally arranged Si openings obtained using nanotemplates. We adopted two types of nanotemplates in this study; anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) and diblock copolymer of PS-b-PMMA. Well ordered and various shaped nanostructure of SiGe, nanodots and nanowire, were fabricated on Si openings by combining SEG of SiGe to self-assembled nanotemplates. Nanostructure fabrication method adopted in this study will open up the easy way to produce the integrated nanoelectronic device arrays using the well ordered nano-building blocks obtained from the combination of SEG and self-assembled nanotemplates.

The manufacture of organic electronic circuits requires effective heterogeneous integration of different nanoscale organic materials with uniform morphology and crystallinity in a desired arrangement on a substrate. Herein, we present a new direct printing method, which enables monolithic integration of crystalline nanowire arrays with a diverse range of organic materials. In this method, we use a nanoscale patterned soft mold, which contains an assembly of simple nanoline patterns but, in combination with droplet of various organic inks, can produce a large-scale integration of various nanopatterns with multiple kinds of organic materials. The morphology of organic nanowires can controlled by nanoconfinement in nanoline of mold. And mutual alignment of nanopatterns can be controlled by adjusting the ink droplet size, number of droplets, ink deposition locations.

In this study, the applications of the block copolymer thin films are introduced. For this purpose, we first obtained cylindrical nanodomains in polystyrene-block-poly(methyl methacrylate) copolymer perpendicularly oriented to a substrate. Then, nanoporous templates were prepared after removing the PMMA nanodomains by UV treatment. By using electropolymerization, high density nanowire arrays of conducting polymer of poly(pyrrole) and poly( 3-hexyl thiopene) were obtained and their electric properties were measured. Also, these nanoporous thin films were found to be very useful for the separation of human Rhinovirus type 14 (HRV 14), major pathogen of a common cold in humans, from the buffer solution.
Field emission of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) fabricated by disproportionation of CO has been studied. CNTs fabricated on well-ordered Co nanowire arrays formed on the porous anodic aluminum oxide templates were well graphitized, uniform in diameter and aligned vertically with respect to the plane of the template, and showed a good field emission property. Very uniform emissions were observed from the CNTs fabricated at relatively low temperature, $500-600^{\circ}C$. Low fabrication temperature such as $500^{\circ}C$ could make it possible to fabricate CNTs on soda lime glass, a low-cost substrate, for display panel.
