This paper describes a 5-dof ground testbed which emulates micro-gravity environment for developing Rendezvous/docking algorithm of a nano-satellite. The testbed consists of two parts, the low part which eliminates friction force with ground and the upper part which has 3-dof rotational motion with respect to the low part. For Vison-based autonomous navigation algorithm, we use camera, LIDAR and AHRS as sensors and eight cold gas thrusters and three axis directional reaction wheels as actuators. All system software are implemented with C++ based on on-board computer and Linux OS.

The photoluminescence (PT) properties of Al-doped ZnO thin films grown by the sol-gel dip-coating method have been investigated. At 12 K, nine distinct PL peaks were observed at 2.037, 2.592, 2.832, 3.027, 3.177, 3.216, 3.260, 3.303, and 3.354 eV. The deep-level emissions (2.037, 2.592, 2.832, and 3.027 eV) were attributed to native defects. The near-band-edge (NBE) emission peaks at 3.354, 3.303, 3.260, 3.216, and 3.177 eV were attributed to the emission of the neutral-donor-bound excitons (D0X), two-electron satellite (TES), free-to-neutral-acceptors (e,A0), donor-acceptor pairs (DAP), and second-order longitudinal optical (2LO) phonon replicas of the TES (TES-2LO), respectively. According to Haynes' empirical rule, we calculated the energy of a free exciton (FX) to be 3.374 eV. The thermal activation energy for D0X in the nanocrystalline ZnO thin film was found to be ~25 meV, corresponding to the thermal dissociation energy required for D0X transitions.
We estimated the receiver and satellite differential code bias(DCB) based on the ionospheric total electron content(TEC) estimation method. The GPS network which has been operated by the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute(KASI) was designed to calculate TEC. The receiver and satellite DCB values were obtained from the weighted least square method with time interval for one hour. The results represented that the receiver DCB values are mostly varying within ${\pm}2m$ meter and are derived comparatively stable within three days. The estimated mean values of the satellite DCB show the maximum and minimum values of 4.09 nano-second(ns), -6.28ns respectively. We could detect great variations of TEC over 9 TECU difference at any time when the DCB sets were applied to TEC estimation.

According to Haynes' empirical rule, we calculated the energy of a free exciton (FX) to be 3.374 eV. In this study, the minimized on-board computer (OBC) module for integrated navigation is developed, which provides satellites' relative position information in formation flying and cluster operation situations. The scalability is considered to apply the user-selected wireless communication module and Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver for navigation, while considering to meet the structural design standard of nano-satellites. As a result of the product development and production, the processing speed of integrated navigation and real-time data synchronization is satisfied for cluster operation nano-satellites by using micro controller unit (MCU). From a heat/vacuum, vibration and radiation test, the OBC was confirmed to be operated in space environments. From these results, a mass production system of OBC was made which is a key part of development on satellite formation flying and cluster/constellation missions that the community demands are increasing.

The Outgoing Longwave Radiation (OLR) is an important satellite-driven variable for understanding the Earth's energy budget balance. The geostationary OLR retrievals require angular and spectral integration using an empirical equation for irradiance flux-to-OLR from a regression analysis, which determines the accuracy of the narrowband satellite-based OLR. We selected homogeneous pixels which is satisfied less temporal-spatial variability of cloud, on three infrared channels (6.7, 10.8, $12.0{\mu}m$) of the first multipurpose geostationary satellite in Korea, namely the Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite/Meteorological Imager (COMS/MI). Multiple regression analysis was performed to retrieve OLR with improved accuracy using selected parameters based on theoretical and physical significance. This algorithm yielded retrieval with higher accuracy than broadband-based OLR retrieval: RMSE of 10.54 to $3.81W\;m^{-2}$, and bias of -8.49 to $-0.07W\;m^{-2}$.

Non-explosive shockless holding and release mechanism for a nano class small satellite application has been proposed and investigated. The great advantages of the mechanism are a much lower shock level and larger constraint force than the conventional mechanism using pyro and the heating wire cutting mechanism which has been generally applied to the cube satellite program. To investigate the effectiveness of the mechanism design, EM mechanism was developed and tested to verify the basic function of the mechanism. The test results indicate that the proposed mechanism is well functioning as the mechanism design intends.
The Global Space-based Inter-Calibration System (GSICS) is an international partnership sponsored by World Meteorological Organization (WMO) to continue and improve climate monitoring and to ensure consistent accuracy between observation data from meteorological satellites operating around the world. The objective for GSICS is to inter-calibration from pairs of satellites observations, which includes direct comparison of collocated Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO)-Low Earth Orbit (LEO) observations. One of the GSICS inter-calibration methods, the Ray-matching technique, is a surrogate approach that uses matched, co-angled and co-located pixels to transfer the calibration from a well calibrated satellite sensor to another sensor. In Korea, the first GEO satellite, Communication Ocean and Meteorological Satellite (COMS), is used to participate in the GSICS program. The National Meteorological Satellite Center (NMSC), which operated COMS/MI, calculated the Radiative Transfer Model (RTM)-based GSICS coefficient coefficients. The L1P reproduced through GSICS correction coefficient showed lower RMSE and Bias than L1B without GSICS correction coefficient applied. The calculation cycles of the GSICS correction coefficients for COMS/MI visible channel are provided annual and diurnal (2, 5, 10, 14-day), but long-term evaluation according to these cycles was not performed. The purpose of this paper is to perform evaluation depending on the annual/diurnal cycles of COMS/MI GSICS correction coefficients based on the ray-matching technique using Suomi-NPP/Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) data as reference data. As a result of evaluation, the diurnal cycle had a higher coincidence rate with the reference data than the annual cycle, and the 14-day diurnal cycle was the most suitable for use as the GSICS correction coefficient.

This paper addresses development of the ultra-light analog sun sensors for small satellite applications. The sun sensor is suitable for attitude determination for small satellite because of its small, light, low-cost, and low power consumption characteristics. The sun sensor is designed, manufactured and characteristic-tested with the target requirements of ${\pm}60^{\circ}$ FOV (Field of View) and pointing accuracy of ${\pm}2^{\circ}$. Since the sun sensor has nonlinear characteristics between output measurement voltage and incident angle of sunlight, a higher order calibration equation is required for error correction. The error was calculated by using a polynomial calibration equation that was computed by the least square method obtained from the measured voltages vs. angles characteristics. Finally, the accuracies of 1-axis and 2-axes sun sensors, which consist of 2 detectors, are compared.
HAUSAT-2 is nano satellite with 25kg mass being developed by Space System Research Lab. in Hnakuk Aviation University. This paper addresses HAUSAT-2 small satellite thermal analyses and its verification at satellite system, electronic box, and PCB levels. Thermal model which is used for system-level and box-level thermal analyses was verified and corrected through thermal vacuum/balance test. The new board-level thermal analysis methodology, modelling high-power dissipating EEE parts directly, was proposed. The proposed methodology has been verified with test results.
