  • Spatially distributed on-site devices such as bioretentions and bioboxfilters are becoming more common as a means of controlling urban stormwater quality. One approach to modeling the cumulative catchment-scale effects of such devices is to resolve the catchment down to the scale of a land parcel or finer, and then to model each device separately. The focus of this study is to propose a semi-distributed model for simulating urban stormwater quantity and identifying best sites for spatially distributed on-site stormwater control devices in an urban drainage system. A detailed model for urban stormwater improvement conceptualization simulation is set up for a $0.9342km^2$.

  • This study attempts to identify the spatial distributions of Achnanthes convergens, and elucidate the environmental factors that affect the Periphyton diatom habitat. Data in 250 points of Nakdong river basin are collected between April(primary) and September(secondary) 2012, with the National Institute of Environmental Research's support. We define "clean area" over 10% of Achnanthes convergens appearance, and the others as "non-clean areas". Spatial statistics of Kriging, Hotspot, LISA are used in this study. Results show that 1) 56 points are identified as clean areas in the primary survey, while 41 points are discovered in the following survey; 2) using water quality variables, density of turbidity(clean $101.83{\mu}s/cm$; non-clean $598.48{\mu}s/cm$) and conductivity(clean 1.95 NTU; nonclear 5.58 NTU) are five-fold lower in clean-areas; 3) Habitat and Riparian Factors in Nakdong basin illustrate that natural sand bar, diversity of velocity, sediment condition, levee material, riverside land affect Achnanthes convergens; 4) Hotspots of Achnanthes convergens are located in watersheds, including upper Andong Dam, upper Imha dam, Wi-cheon, Miryang river, Nam river and Hwang river whereas mainstream/downstream of Nakdong river and Keumho river watershed are shown as coldspots.

  • Three-parameter Muskingum flood routing model which incorporated the inflows alongside the river channel is applied for the Waegwan-Jeukpogyo reach of the Nakdong River using the flood data of 12 selected flood events experienced in this reach. The flood routing equations for three-parameter model were expressed as a system of finite difference equations and the routing constants were directly computed by matrix inversion method. Then, the three parameters, which consist of the storage constants(K), weighting fator(x), and lateral inflow parameter(α), were determined from the computed routing constants. The results of the present study showed that the model can predict with a fair accuracy the flood discharges at the downsteam end of the reach. The parameters K and x were seen as channel parameters which have close relations with the flood magnitude, whereas the lateral inflow parameter was shown to be strongly governed by the rainfall characteristics of the tributary watersheds contributing to the lateral inflows.

  • The purpose of this study was evaluated on achievement of the Target water quality (TWQ) with Load Duration Curve (LDC) as well as materials collected through the implementation of Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL), targeting 41 unit watersheds in the Nakdong River Basin in korea, and examines the adequacy of the LDC method to evaluate the TWQ by comparing methods through current regulations. It aims to provide basic materials for TMDL development in Korea. This determination resulted from the fact that the measured data placed on the LDC mean that they are beyond TWQ in a certain condition of water flow when actually measured load values were displayed in a form of LDC. In addition to water quality surveys, it is considered that information on the level of damage in a water body by water flow grade can be utilized as a basic material to identify compliance with the total admitted quantity, and establish rational plans to improve water quality. This information helps in the identification of the degree of damage in water quality according to water flow.

  • In this study, we analyzed the value of Chl-a by histogram to classify the points where algal management is required. The degree of algal bloom by point was analyzed using the ogive curve, and the algal control points were classified into three stages according to the shape of the frequency distribution table. Of the four major rivers, low concentration of Chl-a appeared most frequently in the Han River, while the high concentration of Chl-a was frequently found at the points of the Geum and the Yeongsan Rivers. In the case of the Han River, no apprehensive areas were found thatrequire intensive management, while most points on the Geum and the Yeongsan Rivers required algal management. Finally, the Nakdong River basin was identified as points requiring algal management from the mid to downstream. The results of this study have confirmation of the possibility that the frequency distribution could be used as a supplementary indicator to express the algal bloom.

  • The estimation of delivery ratio is a essential part of Korean Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) procedure which needs a number of observed stream flow and pollutants data. If observed data were not sufficient, researchers have to find other alternatives. One of them is to make indirect data by using watershed models, such as Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) and Hydrological Simulation Program - FORTRAN (HSPF) and so on. In this study, indirect daily data was made by using SWAT model. To build the Byongseong-SWAT model accurately, crop cultures are reflected by handling the MGT.file in SWAT model. Especially, mass of manure and schedule of crop culture are inputted through investigating domestic research papers as well as fieldwork. After calibrating SWAT model in comparison with the 22-years flow and pollutants observed outlet data, the delivery ratio of Byongseong watershed is calculated by using daily simulated data during 2004-2007. Empirical equations for delivery ratio through multi-regression analysis are developed by using meteorological and physical factors such as flow, watershed area, stream length, catchment slope, curve number (CN) and subbasin's pollutant discharge loads.
