The aim of this study is to contribute to the idea of creative design by presenting nail art designs in which neo pop art converges with nail art techniques. For this purpose, this study analysed the artistic worlds of Jean Michel Basquiat and Takashi Murakami as representative artists of neo pop art and used examples of their art as motivation based on Internet data and relevant books. Also this study analysed the concept and expressive techniques used in nail art, and for the nail art techniques of: hand painting, see-through, etching, nail patches, 3D, and airbrushing in order to create six nail art designs using artistic works by three artists as motivation. Based on this, this study presented creative and unique nail designs with artistic works by neo pop artists as motivation. It is hoped that this study will contribute to further use of characteristic and diverse nail designs and is helpful in promoting the capability of nail artists and activate the nail art scene. It is expected that research on nail art design will be expanded and developed through convergence with diverse design areas in the future.

Fingernail-related content on YouTube is gaining popularity. This study aimed to present a new direction for nail content marketing and video production by identifying the current status of nail-related content on YouTube and factors affecting views. As for the research method, the study used the YouTube website, and the elements under analysis were classified into YouTuber characteristics (verbal characteristics, age group, gender, professional status, and celebrity status) and content characteristics (nail field, editing elements, and content). The results showed that standard language and terminology were generally used, and the proportion of YouTubers in their 30s was high. All nail-related content creators on YouTube were women, and they were found to be experts who worked as nail artists and nail content creators. As for the content characteristics, the proportion of art videos was high, and the video length was found mostly to be between 10 and 20 minutes. The editing elements included images, videos, and subtitles, and sound effects and background music were used frequently. Finally, it was found that the proportion of videos providing nail tips and know-how, product information, and procedures was high. This study identified factors that influence the number of views for nail videos. As a result, the study was able to present video production ideas for newcomers starting a nail-content YouTube channel, and this will be helpful in the development of nail content.

This study aims to help the creative idea of nail art design and the expansion of artistic realm by presenting nail art applied with dot, line, and plane, which are the basic elements of the sculpture that make up the space for visual expression of nail art. The research method considered the concepts and characteristics of the molding elements through professional books, prior research, and Internet website. Along with various expression techniques, the characteristics of dot, line, and plane were applied to nail art and expressed as visual messages, and a total of six works were produced according to each characteristic. This research aims to find a new perspective on nail art expression by reinterpreting the characteristics of dot, line, and plane, which are formative elements, in an artistic approach, and to contribute to enhancing the infinite possibilities of nail art design by utilizing them.

This study was conducted with students who had experience in purchasing nail products asa result of by taking the nail design course of the department of beauty at a junior college. The purpose of this study was to provide useful information to nail companies, including the importance of product elements and effective media promotion, to support the planning and promoting of nail products for beauty major students. Means analysis, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis were conducted on detailed characteristics related to nail beauty (degree of nail management, degree of contact with nail beauty media) and considerations for the purchase of nail products. The results were as follows: For beauty major students, it was concluded that the greater the interest in nail beauty, such as degree of nail management and degree of contact with nail beauty media, the greater the interest in product quality, purpose, and safety, which are practical product elements considered when purchasing nail products. It was also confirmed that Instagram and YouTube advertising media have a significant effect on promoting nail product brands for beauty major students. As the subjects of this study comprise beauty major students in their early 20s, there is a limit to expanding and applying the conclusions of this study to general nail product consumers. Therefore, in subsequent studies, analysise of a wider range of nail product consumers should be conducted through an expanded sampling method.

The use of structural wood based panels like plywood, OSB in many applications involves the use of nails, and data on the performance of panel-nail connection are needed for design and comparative purpose. This study was carried out to develop basic information on nail performance(withdrawal, embedding, nailhead push through) with water absorption in plywood and OSB. In withdrawal resistance test, initial stiffness of plywood performed better than OSB in 24hr soaked condition. The soaked condition reduced average nail withdrawal resistance value about 46% (12d mail), 53%(8d nail) in OSB, 17%(12d mail), 24%(8d mail) in plywood. The nail embedding strength of plywood also performed better than that of OSB and retention value(wet strength/dry strength) yielded similar in each nail types. The nail head push through capacity of OSB was higher than that of plywood in dry condition, but equal or lower in soaked condition. Therefore, critical consideration about structural panels is required in moist applications. The average values of nail withdrawal, nail embedding strength and nail head push through resistance of tested materials meet the minimum requirement of various specification and standards.

Today the number of economically independent women are increasing in Korea, they have a tendency to pay more attention to their appearance in their social life. Female university students show a high tendency of that kind, especially when they prepare for their job interviews. They purchase beauty products, visit beauty salons and skin care centers to improve their looks. Above all, their interest in nail art is amazingly increasing for maintaining their self-image. This study thus aims at surveying the relationship between college woman's life style and their interest in nail care, by analysing life styles of college women pursuing up-to-date style. The results show that an 'egoistic' type has a high interest in and a high frequency of using a nail care center, and 'egoistic' type's demand for the nail service is equal to or quite higher than 'appearance-oriented' type's. That means that the 'egoistic' type seems to pay much attention to how they look, because they think their neat appearance help to accomplish their ego.

This study examined the history of nail art in 20th century, defined characteristics of many techniques used on nails, and analyzed how those techniques have been utilized in recent nail art works. For the method of the study, books and previous studies on nail art were examined as primary sources, and newspaper articles on nail art were studied as references. Then, the case studies were conducted on photographs of nail art works published in Nail Holic in 2012. As a result of analyzing expression techniques of nail art featured on Nail Holic, there had been a total of 517 works created using a single technique. The reason why hand painting is used very frequently is because artists can draw unique images of their own to create various designs according to their tastes. Rhine stone is also very popular, because stones are easy to apply and various in their shapes and colors. There were a total of 555 works created using two or more techniques. The most important point to examine is that hand painting, rhine stone, and 3D art were most popular among all techniques. These works featured highly various effects and images by combining flat effect of hand painting with three-dimensional effects of rhine stone or 3D art. The tendency can also be found in the fact that there have been many works using techniques of flat effects such as decal or marbling combined with techniques of three-dimensional effects such as rhine stone or 3D art.

This study analyzes current self-nail tips and nail-tip satisfaction. The study method selected from 3 domestic and 3 overseas companies analyzed current self-nail tips based on brand recognition and sales rate. A questionnaire was conducted on 261 adult women in their 20s and 50s about the satisfaction of nail care and self-nail tips. The results are as follows. As a result to analyze the current nail tips, there were products that did not contain the type of nail tip or the composition and ingredients of the glue. An online survey of the sizes of the current nail tips indicated differences in the sizing system method and that the presented sizes are different. The response rate was the highest for the survey results on why self-nail tips were preferred for respondents who prefer self-nail tips because the price was cheap. The reason why they did not prefer self-nail tips was that the degree of completeness was lower and the fitness was not good. In addition, it showed a high response rate in that the adhesive strength was poor and the size did not fit the nails. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a size for nail types by ergonomic design and develop a self-nail tip that can reduce nail damage.

The purpose of this study is to analyze check pattern of nail art from 2011 to 2013. The results of this study are as follows; 1) Check pattern of nail art is total 257 patterns, and there are 84 argyle, 29 tartan, 24 harlequin, 24 over, 23 window-pane, 15 stitcheds, 13 hound tooth, 10 block, 10 madras, 8 gingham, 8 gradation, 7 shepherd, and 2 tattersall check patterns. Through this result, in nail art, the relatively simple patterns such as a vertical pattern, a horizontal pattern, and cross or overlap diagonal line are used more than elaborate and complex check patterns of a fibrous tissue from a weaving process. 2) In check pattern of nail art, N-affiliated color and R-affiliated color are remarkably well-used, because of the effects of argyle, tartan, window-pane, harlequin, stitched, over, and hound tooth check patterns used the most during the past three years. Especially, most tartan, harlequin, over, and hound tooth check patterns use their own special colors such as R-affiliated colors and N-affiliated colors as it is, and argyle, window-pane, stitched, and over check patterns use well by arranging N-affiliated colors and R-affiliated colors. 3) The most used expressive technique is hand painting to express check pattern in nail art, because new products related to UV gel are well launched. These materials can draw fine line that is hard to express by existing polish easily and simply, and not only have set quickly hard, so procedure time is very short, so it is compatible to draw check pattern personally, but also it is well covered, so check pattern is more clearly expressed.

In this study, a soil nail design method for a stability analysis of local instability with nail reinforced slope was proposed. The failure mechanism of a local instability of slope was studied and a theoretical equation to estimate the stability of slope was developed. Using the developed equation, the stability analysis was performed according to installation conditions of soil nail such as a slope inclination, a thickness of soil layer, a nail inclination, and a nail spacing. Considering those design factors, a sensitivity analysis for each influence factors was conducted. Analysis results showed that the safety factor of reinforced slope with nail was higher than the slope without nail. In addition, the safety factor of slope according to ground condition was increased in the order of dry, saturated, and seepage condition.
