The Korean government has purchased land properties alongside any significant water bodies before setting up the buffers to secure water qualities. Since the annual budgets are limited, however, there has always been the issue of which land parcels ought to be given the priority. Therefore, this study aims to develop efficient mechanism for land acquisition priorities in stream corridors that would ultimately be vegetated for riparian buffer zones. The criteria of land acquisition priority were driven through literary review along with experts' advice. The relative weights of their value and priorities for each criterion were computed using the Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP) method. Major findings of the study are as follows: 1. The decision-making structural model for land acquisition priority focuses mainly on the reduction of non-point source pollutants(NSPs). This fact is highly associated with natural and physical conditions and land use types of surrounding areas. The criteria were classified into two categories-NSPs runoff areas and potential NSPs runoff areas. 2. Land acquisition priority weights derived for NSPs runoff areas and potential NSPs runoff areas were 0.862 and 0.138, respectively. This implicates that much higher priority should be given to the land parcels with NSPs runoff areas. 3. Weights and priorities of sub-criteria suggested from this study include: proximity to the streams(0.460), land cover(0.189), soil permeability(0.117), topographical slope(0.096), proximity to the roads(0.058), land-use types(0.036), visibility to the streams(0.032), and the land price(0.012). This order of importance suggests, as one can expect, that it is better to purchase land parcels that are adjacent to the streams. 4. A standard scoring system including the criteria and weights for land acquisition priority was developed which would likely to allow expedited decision making and easy quantification for priority evaluation due to the utilization of measurable spatial data. Further studies focusing on both point and non-point pollutants and GIS-based spatial analysis and mapping of land acquisition priority are needed.

The riparian area plays a crucial role in maintaining the balance between the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. The Korean government has recognized the importance of protecting riparian areas and has taken steps to purchase land and create ecobelt to reduce non-point source pollutants(NSPs) that can negatively impact water quality. However, selecting the catchment area and calculating the pollution load can be challenging due to the small area of the purchased land and the limitations of low-resolution DEMs. To address these challenges, this study proposes the use of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) to create a high-resolution DEM and calculate the pollution load through land cover analysis. This approach can provide a more accurate representation of the land use status and help to identify areas that are contributing to NSPs. The quantitative comparison of the difference in water quality improvement ecosystem services according to the scenarios of additional catchment areas shows that even land purchased for the same amount of money may have different ecosystem service values, and this was quantitatively calculated. This can be used to prioritize future land acquisition. Overall, this study's approach could provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of ecobelt in reducing NSPs and inform future efforts to protect riparian areas in Korea and beyond.

More and more residential and mobile users are requiring access to the Internet. This paper presents an architecture of the network solution for cost-effective Internet/intranet access between users and Network Service Providers(NSPs). It also presents a functional architecture of Internet access router in the integrated access node system. The proposed Internet access router provides the functionality that users select any of a number of NSPs and mutiple user PPP calls are multiplexed over each secure tunnel between the Internet access router and NSP.
This paper presents an appraisal of four nonlinear static procedures (CSM, N2, MPA and ACSM) employed in seismic assessment of plan-irregular buildings. It uses a three storey reinforced concrete plan-irregular frame building exemplifying typical older constructions of the Mediterranean region in the early 1970s that was tested in full-scale under bi-directional pseudo-dynamic loading condition at JRC, Ispra. The adequacy and efficiency of the simplified analytical modelling assumptions adopted were verified. In addition, the appropriate variants of code-prescribed NSPs (CSM and N2) to be considered for subsequent evaluation were established. Subsequent parametric studies revealed that all such NSPs predicted reasonably well both global and local responses, having the benchmark values been determined through nonlinear dynamic analyses using a suit of seven ground motions applied with four different orientations. The ACSM, however, predicted responses that matched slightly better the median dynamic results.
In this letter, we propose an efficient automatic modulation recognition (AMR) method which classifies digitally modulated signals by estimating the bandwidth. In AMR, feature-based methods are widely used and the accuracy of the features is highly dependent on the number of symbols and the number of samples per symbol (NSPS). In this letter, at first, we coarsely estimate the bandwidth of the oversampled signals, and then decrease the sample rate to yield adequate NSPS. As a result, more symbols are used for AMR and the correct classification rate becomes high under the same number of samples.
The effects of native sweet potato starch (NSPS) and sweet potato starch modified by acetylation (MSPS) on dynamic rheological properties of surimi sols were investigated by small-deformation oscillatory measurements. Dynamic frequency sweeps of surimi sols at $10^{\circ}C$ showed that the addition of NSPS and MSPS resulted in a reduction of storage modulus (G') and loss modulus (G"). The tan $\delta$ values (ratio of G"/ G') of all samples were in the range of $0.15{\sim}0.54$ over a wide range of frequency, indicating that all surimi sols are more elastic than viscous. The characteristic G' thermograms of surimi sols during heating from 10 to $90^{\circ}C$ were influenced by the addition of starch. The tan $\delta$ values of all samples were maintained nearly constant above $45^{\circ}C$, showing that the G' is proportional to the G" irrespective of starch effects.
Nonlinear Static Procedures (NSPs) have been developed as a practical tool to estimate the seismic demand of structures. Several researches have accomplished to minimize errors of NSPs, namely pushover procedures, in the Nonlinear Time History Analysis (NTHA), as the most exact method. The most important issue in a typical pushover procedure is the pattern and technique of loading which are extracted based on structural dynamic fundamentals. In this paper, the coefficients of modal force combination is focused involving a meta-heuristic optimization algorithm to find the optimum load pattern which results in a response with minimum amount of errors in comparison to the NTHA counterpart. Other parameters of the problem are based on the FEMA recommendations for pushover analysis of building structures. The proposed approach is implemented on a high-rise 20 storey concrete moment resisting frame under three earthquake records. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the studied procedure the results are presented beside other well-known pushover methods such as MPA and the FEMA procedures, and the results show the efficiency of the proposed load patterns.

The Standard ASCE 61-14 proposes the Substitute Structure Method (SSM) as a Nonlinear Static Procedure (NSP) to estimate nonlinear displacement demands at the center of mass of piers or wharves under seismic actions. To account for bidirectional earthquake excitation according to the Standard, results from independent pushover analyses in each orthogonal direction should be combined using either a 100/30 directional approach or a procedure referred to as the Dynamic Magnification Factor, DMF. The main purpose of this paper is to present an evaluation of these NSPs in relation to four wharf model structures on soil conditions ranging from soft to medium dense clay. Results from nonlinear static analyses were compared against benchmark values of relevant Engineering Design Parameters, EDPs. The latter are defined as the geometric mean demands that are obtained from nonlinear dynamic analyses using a set of 30 two-component ground motion records. It was found that SSM provides close estimates of the benchmark displacement demands at the center of mass of the wharf structures. Furthermore, for the most critical pile connection at a landside corner of the wharf the 100/30 and DMF approaches produced displacement, curvature, and force demands that were reasonably comparable to corresponding benchmark values.
Internet users want to use IP sharing routers for reducing their cost and managing their terminals easy. Network service providers(NSPs) forced their subscribers pay extra charges to use extra terminal like IP router, since 1998 in Korea. The NSPs asserted that IP sharing routers would harm their networks or would impose extra load on their networks, but they were unable to prove their assertion. Users and manufacturing companies insisted on the legitimacy of IP routers, because the IP router is a kind of terminal for end-users, and as such, the right of selection of an IP router belongs to the user. The interest in and beliefs of the relevant social groups about IP router will be deduced through their interpretation. It draws the technological frame of two social groups, NSPs and IP router-manufacturing companies. The rough struggle between two social groups come from their frames. The article shows how society constructs a particular information technology.

Nonlinear static procedures (NSPs) basing on the concept of performance based seismic design have become one of the promising procedures for seismic evaluation of buildings. Although it needs much less computational cost compared to nonlinear time history analysis (NTHA), its usages are limited to simple structures by its inherent restriction to structures wherein the fundamental mode dominates the response. Several new nonlinear static procedures (Modal Pushover Analysis; MPA and Improved Modal Pushover Analysis; IMPA) which can consider higher modes effect were introduced. Nonetheless, its applicability for complex structures such as cable-stayed bridge has not studied yet. This paper focuses on applicability of nonlinear static procedures for the seismic analysis of cable-stayed bridges. Moreover, reliability indexes which can predict analysis procedure's accuracy are introduced.
