Objectives The quality of life in cancer patients is important. The aim of this study is to report a case which showed symptoms improvement after treatment with modified Galgeunhaegi-tang. Methods We retrospectively reviewed the medical records. The patient's body weight and the circumference of lower extremity were measured and the subjective symptoms such as chest pain were evaluated by the NRS(Numeric Rating Scale). And the frequency of defecation was checked daily. Results The patient had received chemotherapy from March to November 2014 for 8th times. During the chemotherapy, the patient developed symptoms such as weight gain, edema of lower extremity, chest pain, headache, low back pain, and constipation. But additional evaluation and management with western medicine couldn't solve the problem. So he started to take Korean medicine. And he was transferred to our cancer center to keep continuing the treatment. After the treatment, the body weight, the lower extremity circumference and the subjective severity of chest pain, headache, low back pain were all decreased. During hospitalization at our center, the patient didn't suffer from constipation. Conclusions An elderly non-small cell lung cancer patient showed the improvement of symptoms that were continued during chemotherapy. As we can see in this case, Korean medicine can be a solution of the symptoms induced by chemotherapy, if there is no symptom improvement with western medicine.

Objectives : The purpose of this case series is to investigate and report the effectiveness of oriental medicine treatment and Hominis placenta pharmacopuncture treatment for supraspinatus tendinosis and subdeltoid bursitis. Methods : 4 patients are admitted at Dept. of Oriental Rehabilitation Medicine, Bu-Cheon Jaseng Oriental Medicine Hospital, diagnosed as supraspinatus tendinosis and subdeltoid bursitis and treated with oriental medicine treatment and Hominis placenta pharmacopuncture. Each case is measured and assessed daily by NRS(Numeric Rating Scale) score and shoulder physical exam. Results : After treatment, patients' shoulder pain are decreased and they showed nearly full ROM(range of movement). In patients with supraspinatus tendinosis and subdeltoid bursitis, oriental medicine treatment and Hominis placenta is good method for pain relief and better movement. Conclusions : As seen in these 4 cases of supraspinatus tendinosis and subdeltoid bursitis, oriental medicine treatment and Hominis placenta pharmacopuncture appears to be effective.

Objectives: This case report aimed to present the effect of Korean medicine therapies, including Sikyungbanga-tang, on cough in a breast cancer patient with metastasis to the lung. Methods: The patient was treated for 48 days with Sikyungbanga-tang and Saengmaek-san to control cough and other symptoms. To assess the changes in the symptoms and the patient's quality of life, the numeric rating scale (NRS), the Leicester Cough Questionnaire (LCQ), and the EORTC quality of life questionnaire Core 30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) were used. Results: Following treatment with herbal medicine, the clinical symptoms and quality of life improved. Moreover, the patient's cough did not recur even one month later. Conclusions: This case report demonstrates that Korean herbal medicine, including Sikyungbanga-tang, may be effective in treating cough in breast cancer patient with metastasis to the lung. However, further research is needed to confirm these findings.

The objective of this study is to report the effectiveness of active postoperative rehabilitation on clavicular fracture by oriental medical interventions and to suggest the importance of proper rehabilitation after operation. A female patient, 43 years old, who had operation for right distal clavicular fracture was treated by oriental medical rehabilitation. We evaluated the consequence by checking numeric rating scale(NRS), shoulder range of motion and shoulder pain and disability index(SPADI). The pain of the patient was decreased and the shoulder range of motion was advanced. SPADI score was decreased. Postoperative-oriental medical rehabilitation can be effectively used for a patient on postoperative state of clavicular fracture. Further studies are needed to set up a rehabilitation protocol with oriental medical interventions after operation.

The purpose of this study is to report the effect in treating a patient with delayed union of 4th toe distal phalanx fracture with a combination of Korean Medicine treatment. We treated the patient with acupuncture, cupping, pharmacopuncture, moxibustion and herbal medicine, from March 3, 2018 to June 25, 2018 (total 33 times). The numeric rating scale (NRS), X-ray were applied as outcome measures. After complex Korean medicine treatment was carried out, delayed union of 4th toe distal phalanx fracture was improved and pain was reduced. This result shows that Korean medicine treatment may be an effective option for delayed union. Further clinical studies are needed to clarify the effect of Korean medicine treatment on delayed union.

Purpose: Abdominal breathing exercises are recommended to activate the breathing muscles and the pelvic floor muscles, as well as to increase postural alignment during exhalation. The purpose of this study was to clarify the effect of improving abdominal muscle strength on menstrual pain in women in their twenties using abdominal breathing exercises. Method: In this study, 32 female university students were included as the subjects. The subjects were divided into two groups based on the area of menstrual pain: lumbar pain (n=16) and lower abdomen pain (n=16). The abdominal breathing positions were divided into two positions, which included a hook lying position and hip and knee flexions at $90^{\circ}$ in the supine position. Exercises were used to strengthen the abdominal muscles during exhalation. Four sets of the exercises were completed three times a week over the course of eight weeks. The degree of pain was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Muscle thickness was measured using an ultrasound. Result: The thickness of the transverse abdominis (TrA) and internal oblique (IO) increased in the lower abdomen pain group. However, thickness of the external oblique (EO) did not increased following abdominal breathing. No significant difference in posture was identified in the lower abdomen group. TrA thickness increased significantly in the lumbar pain group. However, thickness did not increase significantly in the lumbar pain group. In addition, the lumbar pain group experienced no significant effects on posture. IO thickness increased following hip and knee flexions at $90^{\circ}$ in the lumbar pain group. Menstrual pain decreased following intervention in both groups. There was no significant difference in the degree of pain reduction between both groups. Conclusion: As examples of alternative medicine, abdominal breathing exercises may be effective in decreasing menstrual pain.

Background: To suggest potential of Korean medicine treatments as a conservative management for neurogenic claudication and lower extremity weakness due to spinal stenosis. Case Summary: The patient suffered weakness, pain and numbness of the right leg and difficulty walking with diagnosis of spinal stenosis due to herniated lumbar intervertebral disc. Korean medicine treatments, including herbal medicine, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture and Chuna manual therapy were applied. The Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) of pain and numbness in the right leg decreased from 7 to 4, with an increase in strength of the right leg from 60% to 95% compared to the strength of left leg. Walking duration also increased from less than one minute to more than five minutes. Conclusion: Korean medicine treatment may be considered as an effective conservative management for symptoms of spinal stenosis.

Objectives: This study reports a case of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) in which the patient experienced improved limb weakness, facial paralysis, paresthesia, and systemic pain after Korean medicine treatment. Methods: A 25-year-old female patient diagnosed with GBS received the herbal medicine Banhasasim-tang Soft Ext., acupuncture, electroacupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, and rehabilitation treatment. To confirm the change in symptoms, the manual muscle test (MMT), Korean Version of Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI), Yanagihara grading system (Y-score) and Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) were performed. Results: After Korean medicine treatment, there was a significant improvement in GBS-related clinical symptoms. Conclusions: Korean medicine treatment could be effective in improving symptoms of limb weakness, facial paralysis, paresthesia, and systemic pain related to GBS. However, this study has limitations as a case report, and more studies are needed.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to report a case of a pregnant woman diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation that improved in lumbar pain and radiating leg pain through combined korean medical treatment including pharmacopuncture at lumbar facet joints in situations surgical and pharmacological treatment is limited due to pregnancy. Methods: A combination of treatment including pharmacopuncture at lumbar facet joints, acupuncture, cupping, and herbal medicine was provided for 1 month to a woman at 21 weeks pregnant who was diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation. Her progress was assessed with Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), EuroQol-5Dimension (EQ-5D) before and after treatment. Results: After the treatment, the pain decreased and the quality of life was enhanced. No adverse events were observed. Conclusions: The findings indicate that combined korean medical treatment including pharmacopuncture at lumbar facet joints can be safe and effective alternative to treat lumbar disc herniation during pregnancy.

연구 목적 이 연구는 내측 반월상 연골판 손상으로 인한 무릎 통증을 호소하는 5명의 환자에서 한의학적 치료, 특히 신바로 약침으로 인한 통증 개선이 있었기에 보고함이다. 연구 방법 무릎 통증으로 본원 입원치료를 받은 환자 중, MRI 영상 검사상 내측 반월상 연골 파열 진단을 받은 환자들의 차트를 분석하였다. 슬관절 통증 호전 및 기능 개선은 Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC Index), 슬관절 Range Of Motion(ROM) 및 special tests 측정으로 판단하였다. 연구 결과 5증례에서 NRS는 평균 3.4의 호전, WOMAC Index는 평균 64.4%의 호전을 보였다. 슬관절 ROM 측정에서 환자 모두 입원시보다 증가되었으나, 무릎에 손상에 사용되는 보편적 검사인 Stress valgus, Stress varus, Drawer test, Apley compression test, Mcmurray's test 상 전후비교에서 4명의 환자는 호전되었고, 1명 환자에서는 변화가 없었다. 결과 이 연구는 내측 반월상 연골판 손상에 대한 신바로 약침을 포함한 한의학적 치료 후 단기간 내 통증 및 기능 향상을 보여주었다.
