희박연소 상태에서 프로필렌 환원제에 의한 Pt-TiO2 이원기능 촉매의 NOx 제거 특성 (Lean Burn de-NOx Properties of Pt-TiO2 Bifunctioncal Catalyst by Propylene)

  • 디젤자동차와 같이 희박연소 상태에서 많이 배출되는 질소산화물을 선택적 촉매환원(SCR)으로 제거하기 위하여 제올라이트와 금속산화물을 조합한 촉매를 석영 반응로에서 설험하였다. 환원제는 자동차 배출가스에 포함되어 있어 실용 가능성이 크다고 판단되는 탄화수소 중 안전성 및 환원효율이 좋은 올레핀계 탄화수소인 프로필렌을 사용하였다. 본 연구에서는 제올라이트 및 금속산화물계의 단일촉매 상태에서의 NOx 전환율을 파악하고, 저옹 및 고온에서 활성이 다른 촉매를 기계적으로 조합하여 NOx 전환 활성 온도창(Temperature Window)을 확대하고 내구성이 좋은 촉매를 찾고자 하였다 0.55wt%Pt-$TiO_2$/5wt%Cu-ZSM-5 촉매와 0.28wt%Pt-$TiO_2$/$Al_2O_3$ 촉매 및 1.1 wt%Pt-$TiO_2$/$Mn_2O_3$ 촉매 모두 $400^{\circ}C$를 변곡점으로 저온과 고온에서 NOx 제거활성이 있었는데, 저온에서 활성이 가장 큰 것은 0.28wt%Pt-$TiO_2$/$Al_2O_3$ 촉매이었고, 고온에서는 1.1wt%Pt-$TiO_2$/$Mn_2O_3$(21) 촉매가 제일 높은 활성을 보였다. 그러나 수분 및 아황산가스 공존시와 열적 내구성 면에서는 0.55wt%Pt-$TiO_2$/5wt% Cu-ZSM-5 촉매가 가장 우수하게 나타났다.

환상 2단연소실을 갖는 직접분사식 디젤기관의 성능 및 배출물 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Research on Performance and Emission Characteristics of Direct-Injection Diesel Engines with Annular Two-stage Combustion Chamber)

  • Various measures have been tried to reduce the NOx emission from diesel engine, but with partial success because the mechanisms of NOx and PM formations appear to have trade-off relation between each other. Therefore it has been known to be difficult to reduce NOx emission and PM emission simultaneously. Two stage combustion method i,e. a combustion process which has rich combustion stage and lean combustion stage one by one, has been developed successfully to reduce NOx formation in the continuous combustion chambers such as in the boilers. But until yet it is not successful to apply the same method in intermittent combustion chamber like in the diesel engine cylinder, as it was, only several research works were carried out. In this study, devised was a uniquely shaped combustion chamber with reformed piston crown intended to keep fuel-rich condition during early stage of combustion and fuel-lean condition during next stage. It was found that the NOx emission decreased significantly at various conditions of operation with the two stage combustion type engines of PR20 type, but other values such as smoke, CO and specific fuel consumption deteriorated as usual.

다단 공기 공급 저 NOx 버너의 선회유동 및 연소특성에 관한 실험적 연구 - 다단공기공급에 의한 연소특성(I) - (A Study on Swirl Flow and Combustion Characteristics of Air Staged Low NOx Burner)

  • The objective of this research is to determine generally applicable design principles for the development of internally staged combustion devices. Utilizing a triple annulus combustor, the detailed combustion characteristics are studied. For this triple air staged combustor, the angular momentum weighted by it#s swirl number and air distribution ratio was observed to be the critical criteria of NOx emission. An internal recirculation zone which develops on the centerline of the flame immediately downstream of the burner entraps the fuel into a fuel rich eddy. Then sufficient heat must be transferred from the flame via radiation to the chamber heat transfer surfaces, such that the peak flame temperatures are suppressed when the second air is introduced. It is experimentally found out that the total NOx emission level in this type of burner is below 50ppm(3% Ref. O2) at optimum operating conditions.

층류 확산화염에서의 매연과 질소산화물의 배출특성 : 공기측/연료측 희석제 첨가에 따른 영향 (Soot and NOx Emissions in Laminar Diffusion Flames: Effects of Air-Side versus Fuel-Side Diluent Addition)

  • Present study has been conducted to see the relative effects of adding N: to fuel-side and air-side on flame structure, soot formation and NOx emissions. Experiments were carried out to ascertain to what degree chemical kinetics and/or molecular transport effects can explain the differences in soot formation and NOx emission by studying laminar diffusion flames. Direct photograph was taken to see the flame structure. CARS techniques was used to get the flame temperature profiles. And spatial distribution of soot could be obtained by PLII method. CHEMKIN code was also used to estimate the global residence time to predict NOx emissions at each condition. Results from these studies indicate that fuel-side dilution is more effective than air-side dilution in view of NOx emissions. However, air-side dilution shows greater effectiveness over fuel-side dilution in soot formation. And turbulent mixing and heat transfer problems were thought to be considered in practical applications.

  • Experimental Investigations were carried out to remove NOx, SOx simultaneously from simulated flue gas[NO(0.02%)-SO$_2$(0.08%)-$CO_2$-Air-$N_2$] by using a plasma chemical reaction. Ammonia gas(14.81%) balanced by argon was diluted by all and was Introduced to mall simulated flue gas duct through NH$_3$ Injection system which is in downstream of reactor. The NH$_3$ molecular ratio(MR) was determined based on (NH3) to [NO+S0$_2$]. MR is 1, 1.5, 2.5. The NOx removal rate significantly increased with increasing NaOH bubble quantity. The SO$_2$ removal rate was not significantly effected by applied voltage, however it fairly Increased with increasing NH$_3$ molecule ratio. By-product aerosol particle was observed by XRD(X-ray diffraction) after sampling, The NOx, SOx removal rates, when H2O vapour bubbled by dry all was injected to plasma reactor, were better than those of other cases. When aqueous NaOH solution(20%) bubbled by 2.5( ι /min) of $N_2$ and 0.5 ( ι /min) NH$_3$(MR=1.5) were injected to simulated flue gas, The NOx. SOx removal rate was 95 ~ 100[%]

Urea-SCR 분사시스템의 DeNOx 저감 성능 향상과 NH3 슬립저감을 위한 모델 기반 제어알고리즘 개발 및 구현 (The Development and Implementation of Model-based Control Algorithm of Urea-SCR Dosing System for Improving De-NOx Performance and Reducing NH3-slip)

  • The selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system is a highly-effective aftertreatment device for NOx reduction of diesel engines. Generally, the ammonia ($NH_3$) was generated from reaction mechanism of SCR in the SCR system using the liquid urea as the reluctant. Therefore, the precise urea dosing control is a very important key for NOx and $NH_3$ slip reduction in the SCR system. This paper investigated NOx and $NH_3$ emission characteristics of urea-SCR dosing system based on model-based control algorithm in order to reduce NOx. In the map-based control algorithm, target amount of urea solution was determined by mass flow rate of exhaust gas obtained from engine rpm, torque and $O_2$ for feed-back control NOx concentration should be measured by NOx sensor. Moreover, this algorithm can not estimate $NH_3$ absorbed on the catalyst. Hence, the urea injection can be too rich or too lean. In this study, the model-based control algorithm was developed and evaluated on the numerical model describing physical and chemical phenomena in SCR system. One channel thermo-fluid model coupled with finely tuned chemical reaction model was applied to this control algorithm. The vehicle test was carried out by using map-based and model-based control algorithms in the NEDC mode in order to evaluate the performance of the model based control algorithm.

NOx와 PM 배출물 특성을 고려한 오프로드 디젤 엔진의 강건 설계에 관한 연구 (Study of Robust Design of a Off-road Diesel Engine considering Emission characteristics of NOx and PM)

  • 적극적인 환경보호를 위해 그동안 상대적으로 소홀하였던 오프로드 엔진에 대한 배기가스 배출 규제가 강화되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 NOx와 PM 배출물 특성을 고려하여 오프로드 디젤 엔진의 강건 설계를 수행하였다. 이를 위하여 실험계획법에 따라 배출물 NOx와 PM의 측정 실험을 수행하고 다구찌 기법으로 망소 SN 비를 산출하고 분산 분석을 수행하였다. NOx와 PM 배출량에 영향을 미치는 제어 인잘로 인젝터 홀 수, 연료 분사 시기, EGR 율을 선택하였으며 각 제어 인자에 대하여 2 또는 3 수준을 고려하여 직교 배열표를 작성하였고, 이에 근거하여 실험을 수행하였다. 망소 SN 비를 산출하고 델타 통계량을 계산하였다. 저부하 운전 조건에서는 분사 시기가 NOx 배출량에 가장 큰 영향을 미치며, EGR 율이 PM 배출량에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 결과를 얻었다. 제어 인자들에 대한 신뢰수준은 90% 이상이었다.

열병합발전소 적용을 위한 Metal foam SCR촉매의 공간속도와 바인더 함량에 따른 NOx 저감에 관한 연구 (A Study on the NOx Reduction According to the Space Velocity Variation and Binder Content of Metal foam SCR Catalyst for Cogeneration Power Plant Application)

  • 본 연구에서는 기존 상용 SCR 촉매보다 비표면적, 경량성 및 온도 응답성이 우수한 SCR 촉매의 개발을 목적으로 바나듐과 텅스텐의 함량과 바인더의 첨가량을 달리하여 Metal foam 형태의 지지체에 코팅하여 SCR 촉매를 제조한 후, 실험실 규모의 마이크로 상압반응기상에서 공간속도별로 NOx 저감 성능을 측정하였다. 촉매의 특성은 Porosimeter, SEM(scanning electron microscope), EDX(energy dispersive x-ray spectrometer) 및 ICP(inductively coupled plasma), 실체현미경(Stereomicroscope) 기기를 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과 NOx 저감 성능은 공간속도가 증가할수록 감소하였고, 바나듐과 텅스텐의 함량이 3.5 wt.% 일 때 가장 우수한 것으로 확인하였다. 또한, 바인더 첨가량이 많을수록 NOx 저감 성능이 감소하는 것으로 나타났는데, 이는 촉매 표면상의 활성점 수가 바인더에 의해 점유되어 감소된 것에 따른 것으로 판단된다. 또한 표면 코팅 상태 분석을 통하여 바인더의 첨가량이 적절히 조절 되어야 함을 알 수 있었다.

Perforated Cordierite 재질 버너의 표면화염 연소특성 연구 (A Study on the Combustion Phenomena of Surface Flame in Perforated Cordierite Burner)

  • The surface flames in porous ceramic burner are experimentally characterized to investigate the effects of equivalence ratio and firing rates. The results show that the surface flames are classified into green, red radiant and blue surface flame as the decrease of equivalence ratio. And each flame is maintained very stable and represents the same flame characteristics at any orientation of ceramic burner. Particularly the blue surface flame is found to be very stable at very lean equivalence ratio at 7000kcal/hr to 20000kcal/hr firing rates. And the exhausted NOx was analysed to find out which flame has lower NOx emission. The blue surface flame shows the lowest NOx emission regardless of the location of burner since it sustains very stable at lean mixture ratio.

플라즈마/촉매 복합 다단 반응기를 이용한 NOx 저감 (A Study on the NOx Removal in Multiple Plasma/Catalyst Combined Reactor)

  • Plasma/catalyst combined reactor was designed to overcome the limits of plasma and catalyst technologies. Optimum reductant and catalyst was selected from screening test. Experiments about the concentrations of reactant and $H_2O$ and the effect of temperature were carried out. Hydrocarbons with double bond such as propylene and so on were more reactive than any other reductants in plasma/catalyst condition. Photocatalyst, especially hombikat >$TiO_2$ with the largest surface area among the catalysts tested, showed the highest DeNOx efficiency in plasma/catalyst reaction. As the concentration of $H_2O$ increased, the removal of NO was enhanced. The increased concentration of >$O_2$ promoted the reaction of NO which was oxidized to$NO_2$.
