We study on the oxygen behavior of $V_2O_5/TiO_2$ catalysts in the $NH_3$-selective catalytic reduction (SCR) prepared by the ball milling processing. There are not any changes in crystal structure and surface area of the $TiO_2$ catalyst by ball milling, but the maximal reduction temperature decreased in $H_2$-temperature programmed reduction (TPR) analysis. Experimental observations with various concentrations of oxygen indicate that all catalysts showed a very low NOx conversion rate in the absence of oxygen and the reactivity of ball milled catalyst higher depending on the oxygen. It is occurred because the degree of participation of atmospheric oxygen and lattice oxygen is great than that of the not-milled catalyst.

The deactivation of $V/TiO_2$ catalyst used in SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) using ammonia as a reductant to remove the nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the exhaust gas from fired power plant has been studied. The activity and surface area of the catalyst (Used-cat) which was exposed to the exhaust gas for long period have considerably decreased. The characterizations of these SCR catalysts were performed by XRD, FT-IR, FE-SEM, and IC/ICP. The crystal structure of $TiO_2$ both fresh and used catalyst has not been changed. However, $(NH_4)HSO_4$ deposited on the used catalyst surface verified from FT-IR, FE-SEM, and IC/ICP analysis. Moreover, the durability of $SO_2$ was increased by diminishing sulfate ($SO_4^{-2}$)f form.
In this paper the selective reduction catalyst (SCR) for controlling the NOx at high temperature range was studied. XRD and FT-IR BET analysis was also performed to determine the structural properties and adsorption/desorption characteristics of the catalyst. In the case of anatase $TiO_2$ support, a negligible NOx conversion was observed, but the $W/TiO_2$ catalyst made using W as a active metal showed an excellent ability to remove NOx. In particular, the $W/TiO_2$ exhibited a rapid increase in the catalytic activity due to the presence of W for the NOx conversion compared to that of using the pure $TiO_2$ at a high temperature range over $400^{\circ}C$. In addition, the phenomenon of reduced reaction activity due to the heat shock for a long time was found to be suppressed.
The catalytic behavior of the manganese oxides was studied for the selective catalytic reduction with ammonia at a low temperature condition under $200^{\circ}C$. Outlet unreacted ammonia increases with decreasing temperature and increasing $NH_3/NOx$ mole ratio, however $NO_2$ shows an opposite result. $NO_2$ is generated by the adsorption of NO on the catalyst and the following oxidization to nitrates. Unreacted NH3 slip is not observed even at the $NH_3/NOx$ feed ratio above 1.0 due to the reaction between formed nitrates on the catalyst and adsorbed ammonia. The addition of Zr increases $NO_2$ generation, whereas the addition of CeO2 on the catalyst decreases $NO_2$ generation. Furthermore, the additon of the metal oxide induce DeNOx efficiency to reduce.

The policy-making and technological development of eco-friendly automobiles designed to increase their supply is ongoing, but the internal combustion engine still accounts for approximately 95% of automobiles in use. To meet the stricter emission regulations of internal combustion engines based on fossil fuels, the proportion of after-treatments for vehicles and (ocean going) vessels is increasing continuously. As diesel engines have high power and good fuel economy in addition to less CO2 emissions, their market share is increasing not only in commercial vehicles, but also in passenger cars. Because of the characteristics of the diesel combustion, however, NOx is generated in localized high-temperature combustion regions, and particulates are formed in the zones of diffusion combustion. LNT and urea-SCR catalysts have been developed for the after-treatment of exhaust gas to reduce NOx in diesel vehicles. This study examined the effect of a containing promoter on SCR catalysts to cope with the severe exhaust gas regulation. The de-NOx performance of the Mn-SCR catalyst was the best, and the de-NOx performance was improved as the ion exchange rate between Mn ion and Zeolyst was good and the activation energy was low. The de-NOx performance of the 7Cu-15Ba/78Zeoyst catalyst was 32% at $200^{\circ}C$ and 30% at $500^{\circ}C$, and showed the highest performance. The NOx storage material of BaO loaded as a promoter was well dispersed in the Cu-SCR catalyst and the additional de-NOx performance of BaO was affected by the reduction reaction of the Cu-SCR catalyst. Among the three catalysts, the 7Cu-15Ba/Zeolyst SCR catalyst was resistant to thermal degradation. The same type of CuO due to thermal degradation migrates and agglomerates because BaO reduces the agglomeration of the main catalyst CuO particles.
SCR has been popularly approved as one of the most effective means for NOx emission control in heavy-duty and medium-duty vehicles currently. However, high urea dosing would lead to ammonia slip. And $NH_3$ sensor for vehicle emission applications has not been popularly used in real applications. This paper presents experimental studies on the diesel engine urea-SCR system by using a double NOx sensor system that is arranged in the downstream of the SCR catalyst based on ammonia cross-sensitivity. It was shown that the NOx conversion efficiency rised as $NH_3/NOx$ increases and the ammonia slip started from the $NH_3/NOx$ equal to 1.4. The increase of temperature caused high improvement of the SCR reaction rate while the space velocity had no obvious change. The ammonia slip was in advance as catalyst temperature or space velocity increase and the ammonia storage reduced as catalyst temperature or space velocity increase. The NOx real-time conversion efficiency rised as the ammonia accumulative storage increase and reached the maximum value gradually.

The Effect of Space Velocity(SV) on NOx conversion rate was performed to develop NOx reduction after-treatment system. SV is calculated from engine exhaust gas volume and SCR catalyst volume. Found the Urea injection duty of maximum efficiency for NOx conversion if increase SV, NOx Conversion rate is down. Especially, when SV is more than $110,000h^{-1}$, NOx conversion rate decrease suddenly. Same case, if SV is lower than $40,000h^{-1}$, NOx conversion rate is down. Also, the characterization of Urea-SCR system was performed. Three candidate injectors for injecting Urea were tested in terms of 속 injection rate and NOx reduction rate. The performances of SCR catalytic converter on temperature were investigated. The performance of Urea-SCR system was estimated in the NEDC test cycle with and without EGR. It was found that nozzle type injector had high NOx conversion rate. SCR catalytic converter had the highest efficiency at the temperature of $350^{\circ}C$. EGR+Urea-SCR system achieved NOx reduction efficiency of 73% through the NEDC test cycle.

NOx (Nitrogen Oxide) reduction system periodically needs a rich or stoichiometric operating condition to reduce NOx. A new method that optimizes the control of external HC injection into a diesel exhaust pipe for HC-type LNT (Lean NOx Trap) catalyst system has been developed. In this paper, these catalysts are called HC-LNT catalysts. The concentration and amount of HC can be controlled by controlling the external injection. In this study, we investigated the relationship between the spray behavior of hydrocarbons injected into the transparent exhaust pipe and NOx reduction characteristics. From the results of this experiment, we obtained useful information about the optimum injection and position of HC injector to the exhaust pipe. Further, we obtained useful information about the optimal injection condition for an HC-LNT catalyst system with a gasoline PFI (port fuel injection) typeinjector.

The selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx by $NH_3$ is well known as one of the most convenient, efficient, and economical method to prevent NOx emission in flue gas from stationary sources. The degradation of the reactivity is the obstacle for its real application, since high concentrations of sulfur dioxide and thermal factor would deactivate the catalyst. It is necessary to develop high stability of catalysts for low-temperature SCR. Among the transition metal oxides, $WO_3$ is known to exhibit high SCR activity and good thermal stability. The $MnOx-WO_3-TiO_2$ catalysts prepared by sol-gel method with various $WO_3$ contents were investigated for low-temperature SCR. These catalysts were observed in terms of micro-structure and spectroscopy analyses. The $WO_3$ catalyst as a promoter is used to enhance the thermal stability of catalyst since it increases the phase transition temperature of $TiO_2$ support. It was found that the addition of tungsten oxides not only maintained the temperature window of NO conversion but also increased the acid sites of catalyst.

The effect of the alkali, alkali earth metal elements on selective catalytic reduction(SCR) catalyst deactivation behavior were investigated in terms of microstructure, surface area, pore volume and De-NOx test. Poisoned SCR catalyst were manufactured by injection of $K_2CO_3$, $Na_2CO_3$, $Ca(CH_3COO)_2{\cdot}H_2O$, $C_4H_6MgO_4{\cdot}4H_2O$, $H_3PO_4$ solutions in the new SCR catalyst at $350^{\circ}C$ for 6 hours. New and poisoned catalysts surface were similar. But specific surface area, pore volume decrease from Na, Mg, K, Ca, P compared to new SCR catalyst. Especially, Na poisoned catalyst surface area and pore size extremely decreased by $10.20m^2/g$, $0.061cm^2/g$. De-NOx test results of new and poisoned catalysts at $150{\sim}450^{\circ}C$ indicated that alkali metal (K, Na) poisoned SCR catalysts have the lowest De-NOx efficiency, alkali earth metal poisoned SCR catalysts (Ca, Mg) De-NOx efficiency are higher than alkali metal poisoned SCR catalysts. P poisoned SCR catalyst De-NOx efficiency is similar new SCR catalyst. It were considered that physical deactivation of SCR catalyst was affected by SCR catalyst surface area and pore volume change.
