  • The characteristics of NO oxidation using sodium chlorite ($NaClO_2$) powder have been investigated by a flow type packed-bed reactor, where the reaction temperature and the space velocity are varied in the range of $20{\sim}230^{\circ}C$ and $0.4-2.2{\times}10^5hr^{-1}$, respectively, and the simulation gas mixtures are composed of NO (0~200 ppm), $NO_2$ (0-200 ppm), $O_2$ (0~15%) and $H_2O$ (0~15%) within $N_2$ balance. It has been found that the oxidation efficiency of NO depends greatly on the reaction temperature, exhibiting the existence of critical reaction temperature at about $170^{\circ}C$ where the oxidation efficiency of NO is maximized and then abruptly decreased with further increase of reaction temperature, resulting in being negligible over $190^{\circ}C$. Such a behavior in the oxidation efficiency has been originated from the phase transition of $NaClO_2$ at about $170^{\circ}C$ to form $NaClO_3$, and NaCl which are chemically inactive toward the oxidation of NO. The chemical reaction of NO with $NaClO_2$ has been observed to produce $NO_2$, ClNO and $ClNO_2$, whereas that of $NO_2$ only OClO species. Additionally, we have also observed that the introduction of $O_2$ and $H_2O$ has little influence on the oxidation of NO.

  • In this study, NO oxidation process was studied to increase the NO treatment efficiency of pollutant present in exhaust gas. $H_2O_2$ catalytic cracking was introduced as a method of producing dry oxidizing agents with strong oxidizing power. The $K-Mn/Fe_2O_3$ heterogeneous catalysts applicable to the $H_2O_2$ decomposition process were prepared and their physico-chemical properties were investigated. The prepared dry oxidant was applied to the NO oxidation process to treat the simulated exhaust gas containing NO, NO conversion rates close to 100% were confirmed at various flow rates (5, 10, 20 L/min) of the simulated flue gas.

  • In the present study, a systematic chemical kinetic calculations were made to investigate the augmentation of $NO-NO_{2}$ conversion due to the addition of various hydrocarbons (methane, ethylene, ethane, propene, propane) in the nonthermal plasma treatment. It is included in the present conclusion that the reaction between hydrocarbon and oxygen radicals induced by electron collision, is believed to be a primarily process for triggering the overall NO oxidation and the eventual NOx reduction. Upon the completion of the initiating step, various radicals (OH, $HO_{2}$ etc.) successively produced by hydrocarbon decomposition form the primary path of $NO-NO_{2}$ conversion. When the initiating step is not activated, hydrocarbon consumption rate appeared to be very low, thereby the targeted level of NO conversion can only be achieved by the addition of more input energy. Present study showed ethylene and propene to have higher affinity with 0 radical under all conditions, thereby both of these hydrocarbons show very fast and efficient $NO-NO_{2}$ oxidation. It was also shown that propene is superior to ethylene in the aspect of NOx removal.

  • The NO oxidation process has been applied to improve a removal efficiency of NO included in exhaust gas. In this study, to produce a dry oxidant for the NO oxidation process, the catalytic H2O2 decomposition method was proposed. A variety of the heterogeneous solid-acidic Mn-based catalysts were prepared for the catalytic H2O2 decomposition and the effect of their physico-chemical properties on the catalytic H2O2 decomposition were investigated. The results of this study showed that the acidic sites of the Mn-based catalysts has an influence on the catalytic H2O2 decomposition. The Mn-based catalyst having the abundant acidic sites within the wide temperature range in NH3-TPD shows the best performance for the catalytic H2O2 decomposition. Therefore, the NO oxidation efficiency, using the dry oxidant produced by the H2O2 decomposition over the Mn-based catalyst having the abundant acidic properties under the wide temperature range, was higher than the others. As a remarkable result, the best performances in the catalytic H2O2 decomposition and NO oxidation was shown when the Mn-based Fe2O3 support catalyst containing K component was used for the catalytic H2O2 decomposition.

  • Effectiveness of some natural antioxidants were investigated by measuring the physico-chemical charcteristics and fatty acid composition during thermal oxidation in palm oil. Tocopherol showed most enhanced thermal oxidation stabilities compared to the other natural antioxidants. AR spice was no good AOM stability and changes of acid value but the other parameters were obtained desirable results. The changes of linoleic aicd content was slightly decreased during thermal oxidation. Addition of rosemary and glycyrriza extract increased the stabilities of oil less than tocopherol and AR spice. Order of antioxdative effects was tocopherol, AR spice and others. There was no significiant difference in stability of rosemary and glycyrriza extract.

  • The aim of this study is to show the results which we analyse the interrelation among the physiological variable elements. We survey thirty fat women who don't do exercise regularly and are thirties. in order to offer basic data for setting the optimal exercise intensity through the efficient fat oxidation. We use RAMP II protocol of the Ever Green Hospital. The results are followings: 1. When the optimal exercise intensity for fat oxidation is done, there's a meaningful relation among the fat oxidation, $O_2$ max, and respiratory change. 2. When the optimal exercise intensity for fat oxidation is done, there's no meaningful relation statistically in $O_2$ max, heart rate, respiratory change, and caloric rate. 3. When the optimal exercise intensity for fat oxidation is done, there's a meaningful difference among three groups in %$VO_2$ max. However, there's a meaningful difference between group C and group A. B, and there's no meaningful difference between group B and group A.

  • Effects of muscle extracts of five species of fish and shell-fish, mackerel, jack mackerel, yellow corvenia, shrimp and baby-neck clam, on lipid oxidation were investigated using a model system consisting of methyl linoleate absorbed in micro crystalline cellulose and extracts of fishes. Ethanol extracts of both mackerel and jack mackerel apparently showed inhibitory effect on the oxidation of methyl linoleate, while the extract of yellow corvenia, and baby-neck clam showed a slight catalyzed effect on contrary. The ethanol extract of shrimp, however, revealed no effect on the oxidation of methyl linoleate. When the ethanol extracts were dialyzed, the outer fractions of dark fleshed fish had a strong inhibitory effect on the oxidation of methyl linoleate, while the inner fractions did not. The outer fraction of yellow corvenia showed catalyzed effect, but the inner fraction inhibited the oxidation slightly. The outer fraction of shrimp had a strong inhibitory action, but the inner fraction showed no effect. The methanol-water fraction of chloroform-methanol extract of shrimp showed a quite strong inhibitory effect on the oxidation, whereas that of four other samples did the same levels of effect as ethanol extracts.

  • The lowering of temperature for combustion of diesel particulate matters (or diesel soot) is one of the important tasks in automotive industry that is searching for a way to meet up "high-fuel efficiency, low-emission" standard. In this study, it was discussed how the use of ozone over platinum-based catalyst promotes a low-temperature soot oxidation occurred at $150^{\circ}C$. The use of platinum catalyst did not increase oxidation rate largely but was very effective in improving the selectivity of carbon dioxide. The pre-oxidation of NO into $NO_2$ using ozone was rather crucial in improving the oxidation rate of soot at $150^{\circ}C$.
