In order to examine the primary trends and characteristics of geological lineaments along the southwestern boundary of Okcheon zone, we carried out the analysis of geological lineament trends over six selected sub-areas using Landsat-5 TM images and digital elevation model. The trends of lineaments is determined by a minimum variance method, and the resulting geological lineament map can be obtained through generalized Hough transform. We have corrected look direction biases reduces the interpretability of remotely sensed image. An approach of histogram modification is also adopted to extract drainage pattern specifically in alluvial plains. The lineament extracting method adopted in this study is very effective to analyze geological lineaments, and that helps estimate geological trends associated various with the tectonic events. In six sub-areas, the general trends of lineaments are characterized NW, NNW, NS-NNE, and NE directions. NW trends in Cretaceous volcanic rocks and Jurassic granite areas may represent tension joints that developed by rejuvenated end of the Early Cretaceous left-lateral strike-slip motion along the Honam Shear Zone, while NE and NS-NNE trends correspond to fault directions which are parallel to the above Shear Zone. NE and NW trends in Granitic Gneiss are parallel to the direction of schitosity, and NS-NNE and NE trends are interpreted the lineation by compressive force which acted by right-lateral strike-slip fault from late Triassic to Jurassic. And in foliated Granite, NE and NNE trends are coincided with directions of ductile foliation and Honam Shear Zone, and NW-NNW trends may be interpreted direction of another compressional foliation (Triassic to Early Jurassic) or end of the Early Cretaceous tensional joints. We interpreted NS-NNE direction lineation is related with the rejuvenated Chugaryung Fault System.

This study examined the status of resident evacuation sites notified to nearby communities, centered on business sites subject to the risk management plan of Incheon, Siheung, and Ansan. Through an analysis of the meteorological data, the direction of improvement of the site selection process for the safe evacuation of chemical accidents was studied. Among a total of 111 evacuation sites, 30 schools were selected the most, and 2-3 sites were usually selected for evacuation. As a result of an analysis of the Incheon meteorological data of 2016, the frequency of occurrences was 18.8525% in the NNE wind direction, 18.0328% in the NNW wind direction, 12.2951% in the WSW wind direction, 9.0164% in the SSE direction, 8.4700% in the SW direction, 6.5574% in the W direction, and 5.7376% in the S direction. The NNE wind direction showed the highest frequency, but the other winds showed a relatively high frequency, indicating that the annual wind direction was not biased toward one side.

Tertiary Pohang basin distributed in south weatern part of the korean peninsula, is composed of Chunbuk formation as the basal conglomerate, Hakjon formation, Duho formation and intrusive basalt which is 15 Ma by absolute age data. The basement of the basin is represented by Cretaceous sedimentary rocks, Hakjon welded tuff and Chilpo welded tuff and rhyolite. The fault systems at the basement of the Pohang basin are consist of NNE direction fault, WNW to EW trend fault. NNE fault is not only strike-slip fault but also normal fault. n fault has sinistral strike-slip sene and the EW fault is strike-slip and normal fault. In the Tertiary basin, the fault system is represented by nm strike-slip fault, EW normal fault and NNE thrust fault. By these fault relationships and geometries, it is interpreted that NNE sinistral strike-slip fault and nomal fault have acted at Creceous times. At Tertiary tines, NNE dextralstrike-slip fault and EW normal fault has created. Progressively Tertiary Pohang basin was influenced by the trenspression to make thrust fault and fold, namely as inversion tectonics.

For the effective development or preservation of Tokdo, the natural environments in the ambient sea area should be well investigated. The wave deformations and wave breaking in the vicinity have much affected the bottom morphology of Tokdo as well as its ecological environment. The present study investigates the wave deformations and wave breaking through a numerical model. The final goal is to provide the fundamental wave data for the effective development or preservation of Tokdo in future. The extended mild slope equation was applied to Tokdo sea area for three different deep water wave conditions (S, SSE, NNE directions). The results showed that for the S and SSE directions the wave heights in the area between the east island and the west island were very low with the level of 1~2m, but for the NNE direction they appeared pretty high with 3~4m, In the sea area near the northwest of west island, the wave heights were low to be 1~3m for all three directions of deep water wave.

The Dongnae Fault in the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsular is not a single fault but a complex fault zone composed of numerous minor faults. In order to deduce the paleostress tensor evolving the Dongnae Fault, we measured 329 faults in outcrops around the fault zone and analyzed the geometries of them. Most of them are steeply dipping(>65˚) and fall into three groups striking N10E, N30E and N70E. More than one half of them show the rakes less than 30˚ Paleostress tensor analysis using the collected fault data has been conducted with the Angelier's direct inversion method and the Choi's method. As result, four different principal paleostress axes each of which subtends an independent tectonic event are found. They are; (1) NNE-SSW compression and ESE-WNW extension (Event I), (2) NNE-SSW extension (Event II), (3) ESE-WNW extension (Event III) and (4) ENE-WSW compression and NNW-SSE extension (Event IV) in chronology. Therefore, the tectonic movement around the Dongnae Fault was firstly governed by strike-slip faulting related to Event I. Afterward, normal faults were formed by Event II and Event III. Finally, the dextral strike-slip faults along the major trace of the Dongnae Fault were formed in NNE direction related to Event IV.
The study is to analyze and interpret lineaments and circular/arc structures on the Landsat TM images which cover the Korean peninsula and the attched islands except the Ulneung island. The Landsat TM images which cover the Korean territory are 23 scenes, and band 3 and band 5 were selected for the study from seven bands, because the both vands are sensitive on soil moisture and geological materials. Lineament trend analysis Sinian direction (NNE-SSW), Pyeongan direction(NW-SE), Yodong direction(NE-SW), Korean direction(NNW-SSE) and Danyang direction (WNW-ESE) are predominant lineament trands of Korea. Circular/arc structures can be devided into four categories according to their origin; 1) volcanic activity origin, 2) granite intrusion oringin, 3) structural origin and 4) the others.
To interpret the movement historv of the Yangsan fault, the paleostresses were analyzed from about 1,000 striated small faults and 330 extension joints which were measured from 37 sites near and along the strike of the Yangsan fault from Yangsan-si, Kyeongsangnam-do to the Shinkwang-myeon, Kyeongsangbuk-do. Six sequential tectonic events have boen established as followings: (I) NW-SE extension, (Il) ENE-WSW compression and NNW-SSE extension, (III) NW-SE compression, (W) ENE-WSW extension, (V) E-W comoression and N-S extension, and (VI) NNE-SSW compression and(VI) NNE-SSWextension. The movement history of the Yangsan fault rnrning in NNE direction were inteepreted based on these six sequential stress fields. The initial feature of the Yangsan fault was formed at the first stage with the development of extension fractures by tectonic event (I) of NW-SE extension. The fault was acted continuously with a right-1ateral strike-slip movement by tectonic event( II) closely related to event( I). The movements had been continued until the Late Miocene. This age was the most active period in faulting. The left-lateral strike-slip movement was followed by subsequent tectonic events (ffi) and (IV). The activity of the Yangsan fault was suspended temporarily by compression of tectonic event (V) which was perpendicular to the strike of the fault. This period might be very short and the magnitude of the tectonic was also small. In the last stage, the fault acted with slight extension or right-lateral moveenent by tectonic event (VI).

At new constructing national road, a cutting slope was surveyed and gotten face mapping for three months. The slope is composed of gray phyllite and coaly slate which is the Chang-ri Formation, Okcheon system. The slope angle is 40 degree and the direction is NNE. The attitude of schistosity is $260^{\circ}/45^{\circ}$. So the slope direction is nearly parallel to the schistosity. This is the reason that the slope is very unstable. On the other hand, the very unstable slope is caused by the direction of the schistosity and the slope. First month the coaly slate was slided through the schistosity plane about 10cm. However, three months late the displacement was 2m maximum.

The purpose of this study is as follows: First, we restore the optimal topographical environment of the Bronze Age settlements in the Yongdu Stream and its surrounding area in Asan City. Second, we reveal the relative importance of the topographical factors that the Bronze Age people considered when selecting their dwelling locations. We compared and analyzed topographical factors (ridge scale, ridge direction, slope direction of the ridge, micro-landform of the ridge, position of the ridge) from the ridge's environmental perspective of 123 Bronze Age dwellings (hereinafter referred to as dwellings) found in the survey area for that purpose. The results are as follows: First, from a macro perspective, the optimal topographical environment for the location of the Bronze Age settlement is the second ridge that have the E-W direction. And from a micro perspective, it is the southeast direction slope of the Crest slope at the summit. Second, it appears that the Bronze Age people have taken important consideration in determining the location of their dwelling in the following order: ① position (eg. summit), ② micro-landform (eg. Crest slope, Upper slope), ③ slope direction (eg. southward, South, Southeast), ④ scale (eg. sub-ridge, secondary, tertiary), ⑤ direction (eg. E-W, NNE-SSE).
The Pungcheon-myeon, Andong, consists mainly of Precambrian metamorphic rocks, Jurassic igneous rocks, Cretaceous sedimentary rocks (Hasandong, Jinju and Iljik Formations) and Cretaceous igneous rocks (gabbroic rocks, dykes), in which several major faults are developed; Andong fault of ENE trend, which is the boundary fault of the Cretaceous Gyeongsang Basin and the Precambrian-Jurassic basement (Yeongnam Massif), Namhu fault parallel to it, Maebong fault of NNW direction, bow-shaped Gwangdeok fault of ENE direction which is convex toward SSE direction, and Hahoe fault of NNE direction. This paper is researched the geological structures around these major faults by means of the detailed geometric analysis on beddings, joints, faults and drag folds. As a result, a reverse slip faulting of top-to-the SSE movement accompanied with a regional drag folding is recognized from the arrangement of bedding poles measured around the Gwangdeok and Hahoe faults at its northeastern extension, and a zone of Gwangdeok drag fold of 150-300 m width, which is wider at the central and eastern parts of Gwangdeok fault and narrower at its western part and Hahoe fault, is also defined. It indicates that the Hahoe and Gwangdeok faults are a single fault and their movements are coeval unlike the results of earlier reasearchers. And, In this area are recognized two types of faults [(E)NE${\sim}$EW(fault I), WNW${\sim}$NNW (fault II), trending faults] and four types of joints [EW (I), (N)NW (II), NNE (III), NE (IV) trending joints]. These fractures were formed at least through four different events, named as Dn to Dn+3 phases. (1) Dn phase; the formation of joint (I) (Gwangdeok joint) and the intrusion of acidic dykes of EW trend under the compression of EW direction. (2) Dn+1 phase; the formations of joint (II) (Maebong joint), lens-shaped boudinage of acidic dykes, oblique-slip reverse fault (Fault I-Gwangdeok fault) under the compression of (N)NW direction, and the formation of regional zone of Gwangdeok drag fold accompanying the Gwangdeok faulting. (3) Dn+2 phase; those of joint (III), Fault II (Maebong fault) by dextral strike-slip movement of Maebong joint under the compression of NNE direction, and the extension cutting of Dn+1 structures due to the Maebong faulting. (4) Dn+3 phase; the jointing (IV) and the reactivation of Fault II as oblique-slip type with predominant dextral motion which took place under the compression of NE direction. It also suggests that the Maebong fault is not a tear fault deveolped during thrust tectonics of the Andong and Gwangdeok faults but is a post-fault during different tectonic event.
